Splatoon |OT| Squidstyler

He's not wrong. That's how I play and if it's succesful we win the match. That said I don't really care about points. They're a good motivator to make people paint though.

Although you can easily get impressive scores on Saltspray Rig as a charger too. There's huge amount of area to cover. Even if you stay in the most obvious spot.

There's got to be a balance between killing/painting.

I try to kill guys who are obsessed with painting. That way you can reclaim the territory.

I was looking for tips about it as well.... its do hard :|. I finish all challanges for all amiibos, and the last level with the boy and the squid is easier than the actual Hero mode last level.... but the charger.... I really dont have time and its soooo long!!! :S

I did it, but dunno how, so i'll give some tips which MIGHT help:

- Shoot across the platforms: It helped me to evade since I had a quick line to go down.

- Try to ignore the things he throws at you which ain't hands or OctoJobbers: This allowed me to always have enough time to charge my shots up.

- When he is throwing an OctoJobber at you, charge your shot up and as soon as the enemy appears...FIRE!: Gets them out the way fast so you can focus on the game.

- Keep an eye on the hands at all times: Because of the Increased Range of the Charger, you should be able to shoot the Hands way before they get to you (same for the Disco Balls you bat to him). Also, remember to evade right away or you'll get hit by the 2nd hand!

Also, how is the Squid Amiibo easier? What do you do in that level?

Of course there is. But people who think the way to play this game is mindlessly running around in enemy territory are delusional at best.

Whoa! Splatoon really is legit!

Tight gameplay with good vibe. Nice!

Someone asked how many of his team were children, well.. my 6yo is really in to splatoon. His never really been into online play, even though he definitely would have the skills to play MK8 online, but just hasn't clicked. But now after his first online play I could see the spark in his eyes! The thrill of PvP has gotten to him.

This is nice, however makes me wonder, if he is too young to play the game, and if you get addicted (edit: to the adrenaline rush of online games) at that age, do you even stand a chance for normal life. Like, have I wasted a serious part of my life playing games online, what have I got left for those hours... well you gotta do something with your life. Gaming I guess is as good thing to do as any.

But considering he has no previous experience in the shooter-genre after playing two 1v1 with me he was playing 400 point games online, which is not bad, there were others in his team who were doing closer to zero. With my experience and his young brains ability to learn, I could mold him to be a one mean killer machine... only if his mother would a agree that gaming can be a career choice :D

did you wired your connection? there's an accessories for that, but normally wifi is fine

Not in my case either (wifi being fine). I quite often keep getting into matches where I don't see the paint I fire appear on the floor (or not after a delay at least) before I get booted out again. Or where my opponents keep teleporting around. Or I end up in matches where everything seems fine but I'm booted out anyway all of a sudden. And then there the more common error codes with "unable to connect to partner device" or something.

Usually my internet is fine and fast enough, so I have no idea what's causing this except server strain at Nintendo's side. Quite a shame because it makes playing this game feel even more tense.

On a side noter I just won by a 0.1 percent margin, which I thought was pretty cool!

Thanks for the tips. I will try later today, but with not doubt, for me is the harderst mission of all (amiibo+hero). About the Squid, its really really easy:

You just swim all the time, avoiding the misils. Whenever comes the hands or balls, u just jump and it hit them back straight away. I think is the easier of the 4 differents version of the final Boss.

Haha nice stealth edit.

Saying it's quicker than a roller isn't exactly false, but it depends on the map and situation. Roller has to for example run up and down 4 times to fill in a square of some kind, where as a charger only has to fire 4 times and depending on the range I believe you can cover a bigger area quickly.

I usually out score the rollers in games I play as charger online and with friends, but I've not played with GAF yet. 3 chargers is probably overkill though.

I'll add a few :

- Before the hand start moving, there a very distinct sound effect
- Just keep walking and you can avoid the normal bullet, like you said you dont even need to shot them.
- Saving last armor and the bubble for the very last phase is almost mandatory.

They just need to patch the game to allow Octolings to wear different outfits and be used online. They have all of the Inkling's abilities anyways.

I still don't know why the multiplayer wasn't Squids vs Octopi. It makes sense given the history of the game.

Which connection difficulties? I had quite a few issues with connection and it only got better after I bought a new modem :(

I still believe this is happening at some point in a later update. They already have all the animations and voice clips in place for the octoling, including super-jumping and the little octo-ghost when they get splatted. Plus we already know that the octoling gear functions as gear just as any other. My guess is they're waiting on the reveal to give people time to finish the campaign first?

Can you level up in single player too?
You don't gain levels in single player that apply towards weapon unlocks and stuff in the multiplayer, but you collect "power eggs" that are used to improve the usefulness of your hero suit (rate of fire, ink capacity, bomb explosion size, etc).

Cash out now.
No excuse, charger is excellent for covering ground if used well imo.
I was talking about just our base area, not the whole map. It's hard for chargers to cover everything. And it is hard for blasters as well.
best style

dynamo roller is hard to use properly and I don't know what to do with Sprinklers really

I really want the ability to make rooms at some point...
Use the Sprinkler to control a choke point and fill up your special meter.

I think the multiplayer is meant to be a portrayal of the sport the Inklings practice. But the game should definitely have a Inklings vs Octolings mode.

Perhaps. They might save the Octolings for DLC, though. Something like... Pay $3 to be able to play as Octolings.

I know, I wasn't disagreeing with you. Chargers take more training to get good than roller, so it's surprising that a lot think roller > chargers. Still, I think a weapon's viability heavily depends of the map you are playing on. Rollers are awful in the skate part map, but really good in the warehouse.

New stages!

Warehouse + Rig

By the way, reknowned Youtube reviewer Matthewmatosis (known for his in-depth Mario Galaxy reviews and Dark Souls II critique) has made a handy countdown tool that shows when new stages are being rotated in. Check it out here!

I definitely think this is the best way. If kills were rewarded with exp it would end up like every other objective mode in shooters where people just farm kills. And screw getting put on a team with three chargers camping the spawn on Saltspray.

I mean, in sense kills are rewarded as time spent respawning is time not painting. Just have to pick the right fights.

Ranked is based off of W/L anyway I think. Points aren't everything.
Thats fair. I still think people would go for the objectives since those would most likely rack up more points overall. Kills will at least be much more important in ranked matches, where its crucial to keep the enemy away from the three zones in order to win.

I don't know what this talk is about. I always try to hold key defensive positions and end up with a lot of kills, ground covered and points. Kills are very valuable, but you shouldn't hold an area you've painted all game if it isn't highly contested.
The guy who wrote the initial posts complained about that people werent doing what you're saying here :)

Oh man, I love following behind somebody who's a roller and undoing all their work and them having no idea it's happening.
I was in a roller train yesterday. It was me rolling, then an enemy following me, and then my teammate following the enemy, it was hilarious. We were all just building up our special meter lol.

Yeah, just played the first set of missions of the Amiibo and damn are they fast and simple. :D

Yeah, I bubbled up for the first shot and had 1 armor taken away when I did it due to moving in the wrong direction once.

I feel that the challenges would make me do the last boss much faster if I ever replayed it.

It's so frustrating when your entire team rushes ahead to engage the enemy at the start without even bothering to ink any of the map on the way.

It usually falls down to me to ink the entire base because nobody else can be bothered.
