The actual worst is when someone inkstrikes just outside the turf range

Think I'm going to stay away from ranked battles tbh. I like the game mode but the all or nothing thing kind of seems like a waste, especially considering you only get 1800p. A good run on Turf Wars can net you 1200-1300 or at least 700-900 guaranteed so it doesn't seem worth it imo.

You get more at higher levels, C+ gets 2500
 
Does anyone know how the armor works in ranked because both teams were neck and neck trading the zone back and forth then suddenly we got 53 armor and they got like 20, the match went to overtime and we lost because of it, this armor thing is pretty annoying

Splat Zones plays similarly to the King of the Hill mode from other video games. It revolves around a central "zone," which players must attempt to cover in ink with a five minute timer. Once a team has covered a majority of the zone in their ink, the zone is "captured" and a countdown begins. The opposing team must try to capture the zone in the same manner. The first team who holds the zone for a total of 100 seconds or has the least amount of time left to hold the zone wins the match . However if one team has held it for a while, but the other team captures it, the team that used to hold it will get a few more seconds added to their countdown timer. This penalty depends on how low your countdown timer is. For instance if you only had 13 seconds left to hold the zone, but the other team captured the zone, 60 seconds will be added to your timer meaning you will have to hold it again for 60 seconds to make your real timer go down. This game also has overtime.

I think Nate commented before that the penalty is like 3/4 of the time you were last in control. So basically if since the start of the game your team was in control until you had 10 left, you probably get like ~67 penalty. Basically it's a comeback mechanic.

basically the longer you hold territory and then lose it, the longer your added time will be. I think it's a great addition to keep battles constantly unpredictable and it keeps teams on their toes to the very end because if you lose territory, you're screwed, lol.

art style, and uniqueness only go so far. The lack of care by the devs to give any way to sway your battle beyond "do your best with what we give you" sucks. You need a properly balanced and smart team to win, but because you can't change weapons between matches with the same group, you never have a choice of the outcome. Do you go for rollers, or do you go for something with more range? All are useful with a team of balanced players, but you get one team whose too heavy in one type, fighting against another team who is perfectly balanced, then you're fucked no matter how hard you try, because they'll just swarm you.

Also, I am just fucking tired of games with any type of progression for multiplayer. Give me old school UT or Quake 3 rules. All have the same chance to get certain weapons and ammo, and that's it. This shit where I'm playing against players who have better equipped gear, because the store has been giving me nothing but shit sucks. Seriously, had a guy on the opposing team who had 3 pieces of gear, all with 4 extra perks, meanwhile, I'm still lucky if I find one for sale with 2. You might say it's not enough to sway the battle, I still say that they have advantages that I don't, and that sucks.

Edit: oh, and when you rocket to where another player is, it should give you a second of invincibility, because it pisses me off just to land in an instant death -_-

I want to try charger on ranked but I don't want to lose my rank... I can create another mii to start from scratch right?

If by armor you mean the +time, it's whenever you have control then lose it, then it goes nuetral then the other team gets it, you get + time relating to how long it's been in nuetral. If you have control, then it goes nuetral, then you regain control, you don;t get +time.


Also, I'm B- using only custom blaster! Yay for longer wait times.
 
Ranked is intense. Bring on the August update so we can have GAF rooms. =D

Seriously, that's going to be amazing. I just hope a large part of GAF is still playing by then. Looking at the smash and MK8 community though, we should be just fine!
 
This thread seriously is going a million miles per hour, not that im complaining, but it might be time for a new thread soon.

For people like me where a great game is 1100 with the bonus and are better at killing than inking ranked is great, also on C you get 2100 points so that's a lot more

Thanks for the replies, I still think it's kinda dumb rewards the team that's losing early just to try to balance it out, it's like u get the counter down early and then bam you have to start all over, maybe I'll just get used to it eventually
 
The fact that you can play the same map 5 times in a row is ridiculous, I just wanted to play the new map once lol.
 
I think it depends on who you play against when winning a b-. When I went against a team full of c+/-, I was getting 10 points. I left the room to find more players around my rank and found a room full of b-, which I got only 8 points for winning. There might be another factor that's affecting how much point you're getting but nothing I've noticed.
 
Ugh, ranked is the worst fucking thing ever. After like a billion matches of constant losses, and only a worthless three wins, don't think I'll ever touch that shitty mode ever again.

They need to patch in being able to play it unranked with friends. Randos are hit and miss at best.
 
Maybe they didn't explain Splat Zones very well? I just had someone in my last ranked match go on their merry way all around the outer part of the map and capture the whole thing by themselves lmao...

Also, this has probably been asked many times, but this thread is movin fast...what exactly constitutes a knockout? One time we got shut out, so I assumed that gave a knock out, by my last match we scored about 35 seconds and still were given a knockout...

The only time mine wasn't a knockout was when it went to overtime and we won. So I'm assuming anything that isn't overtime.

Without it, the team that beelined to the center first and won the initial battle would win the war 90% of the time. At least this way, the better team usually prevails instead of the one who got to the center first.
