Splatoon |OT| Squidstyler

Maybe they didn't explain Splat Zones very well? I just had someone in my last ranked match go on their merry way all around the outer part of the map and capture the whole thing by themselves lmao...

Also, this has probably been asked many times, but this thread is movin fast...what exactly constitutes a knockout? One time we got shut out, so I assumed that gave a knock out, by my last match we scored about 35 seconds and still were given a knockout...

A knockout is anything that finishes prior to the 5-minutes expiring.

Without it, the team that beelined to the center first and won the initial battle would win the war 90% of the time. At least this way, the better team usually prevails instead of the one who got to the center first.
It depends on the score like it doesn't make sense to me that you held the zone at the beginning to like 20 then get the +60 and it's a tie again

Don't think I've ever gotten so mad at a game before. We were winning 2 to 64 and lost because everyone running in and dying.

Are you me?
I haven't felt this mad in a long time. Luckily I'm in a 3 game winning streak right now, but every time I get splattered in ranked I feel nothing but pure hatred.

Omg just had two people painting the enemy base in ranked. Thanks a lot guys.

OK GAF, I'm going to talk to you all about why the silver Aerospray with Seekers and Inkzooka might be more impressive than the "obviously busted" gold Aerospray/Mine/Inkstrike.

I just combined gear that makes me completely invisible while traveling through ink as well as ink saver for primary and sub weapons. On Port Mackerel, this setup is damn near a win condition in and of itself. How?

Step 1: Splatter everywhere until you get to the first northern point of engagement before the enemy

Step 2: Chuck a seeker down one of the passages.

Step 3: Travel any amount of distance down the line. No one can tell where the fuck you are in that line without Echolocators. As you travel through the ink generated by the seeker, you also recover the ink spent on the weapon.

Best part? You are generating a FUCKLOAD of support for your team mates and can freely switch between PvP, setting up win conditions, playing a reaper, spawn camping, and just general fuckery. I am in love with this setup and now have to make it work eternally/optimize the hell out of it.

Bad quality pic, but I wonder why I'm getting +8 and -12 at B- when others seem to be getting +10 and -10. I think the latter would be correct since mine seems really hard and B- is on the lower half of ranks so it shouldnlt be that hard.

I can't figure out what kind of weapon I want to use for ranked. I used the roller for casual but in the couple ranked matches I played with it, it didn't seem very effective.

I imagine it is because two of the players on the opposing team are C-.

The only time mine wasn't a knockout was when it went to overtime and we won. So I'm assuming anything that isn't overtime.

A knockout is anything that finishes prior to the 5-minutes expiring.

That would make sense Nate, because the two times I noticed no knockout was when time ran out (but we were in the lead both times so it didn't go into OT.)

Matches where the time expires are so intense though...back and forth the entire time! So much fun!

The MG has always been better, because the seeker and inkzooka are better than the mine and inkstrike. Inkstrike always covers a set amount of ink that isn't really as big as it seems, and you will almost never get kills with it because of how obvious it is. And even if you do get a kill, that extra splatter from enemy deaths won't really matter because the area they died in will already be your color. Inkzooka can theoretically cover more turf since you can get a bunch of shots off in all different directions. And it's much easier to kill with, since it's basically a charger without the laser sight and charge time, and the enemy splatter is actually going to help.

And the seeker is better than the mine for obvious reasons...

Hm. Makes sense. I just lost -10 now, so I guess that's it. Definitely leaving rooms with lower ranked people then, since lower rank definitely doesn't mean less skilled, yet the penalty is pretty bad.

GUYSSSSS, splatshooter Jr. Is back. I've found my mojo with it on splatzone. Boom, I'm back squids!

I would like to see a detailed description of how the + works. But i don't think it works to create a tie, but more like the time the zone was neutral goes to the team that was holding it before (if it turns over). So say if you had three times when it was neutral for a total of 45 seconds, if the zone finally switches to the other team, that 45 is added to you team's counter.

Oh my god, a roller trying to get into the enemy base on the overpass on ranked and totally ignoring the middle for the whole match, with not even an inkstrike to account for it

Good stuff

Lol dude ranked gets me salty as fuck. I'm not even going to lie.

it's at its absolute worst when the other team not only takes the zone, but they completely block all pathways in without fail and completely wall off the zone. Just gotta put the controller down at that point, and its fucking absurd how easily that can happen.

Woo, just played a few games even with a few Gaffers like Justice, Mr. Panic, and Timasis. That was a fun game I can see myself playing more. Also just want to say I have lost quite a few games because some of us were too busy farming folks that one straggler start painting the place and win it for the team.

Yeah, the matches that have time expire are really intense. I played a match tonight where it took over 90 seconds before a team got control of the zone. Lots of flanking and each team was playing a strong defense. It's like Gears of War Annex mode but more chaotic.

So an hour after I said "ok one last game" I'm finally turning my damn Wii U off. This game is fucking crack.

Having new gear in stores every day was a genius move. Even if I dont feel like playing, I'll still tune in to check out the gear and if theres anything cool I want. I have a pretty rad ward drobe for my Inkling and I change outfits every couple of hours, depending on the time of day or mood.

I think what would turn me into a completely useless member of society is if you could trade gear with other people. Trading for someones shoe or hoodie that has the ability you want or whatever. I would probably lose my mind and never stop playing.

Thank you Nintendo.

Splat Zones is awesome, really changes things up. I still wish Turf War could be an option in ranked, but it's great. I feel like I can use the sniper much more effectively.
