Splatoon |OT| Squidstyler

I'm loving this game so god damn much, havn't had more fun with a shooter ever. The thing that impresses me most is really sad...it actually works like it should day 1. Sure there's content still to come but matchmaking is fast and multiplayer is flawless.

I've only been playing with the default setup as my Fiance won't let me buy anything until she gets back from work :c Proud that i'm still getting 1000+ scores per round

So....primarily looking at this for SP. Worth a buy? Can anyone give me an idea of how long/beefy the SP is? Thanks.

I like online shooters, so maybe I'll get sucked into the MP, who knows.

The fast matchmaking is like crack. You don't even have a chance to think about taking a breka cause it outs you in a new game so fast.
That's what I meant when I said online in Splatoon feels like a local MP game. It's so fast the illusion just works.

Just finished the singleplayer (took me like 6-7 hours with all scrolls) and thought it was an enjoyable ride, until the last boss.
At that point it turned into something awesome.
The whole fight was amazing, so much was going on and dat last song, hnng so good!

I don't really know why but at that point everything totally clicked with me and the credits song was like the perfect ending.

Also, I think the singleplayer made me better at the game in general.
I didn't really notice it until the last boss, but especially at the "end end", I had a couple of "damn did I really just pull that off?" moments.

So yeah, I'm really happy with the singleplayer part, especially since I didn't expect anything.

Around 7 hours is the consensus. It's fun and creative but it's an afterthought.
I really like it though, but don't buy just for that.
Believe me you'll play mp, even if you usually don't like the genre.

I believe you, I just think that image is very misleading. why bother adding a wiimote image to begin with? just show pictures of the controllers I can use, you know? It looks to me like I can somehow use a wiimote in combination with a pro controller / wii cc etc..

damn.. I guess it's been awhile since I used it that way. I don't remember that setup at all!!
:'(

That's also how they are displayed on the back of the cases:

So this game is pretty much the best thing ever.

Or at least, it's fun as hell. I find myself playing multiplayer for a couple hours, then saying, "Oh, I'll do just a lil' bit of single-player before bedtime." Then I knock out the first world, but I still feel like playing, so I return to Inkopolis, upgrade my gear and do more multiplayer. And then I still have the itch, so I scratch it with more single-player.

Single-player feels infinitely replayable. Tearing through each level at top speed (after carefully scouring them for the Sunken Scroll the first time around) is satisfying in much the same was as a Pure Platinum run in Bayo 2. You know what the stage will throw at you, so you're able to leverage that knowledge along with your mastery of mechanics to deftly outmaneuver each enemy and platform your way to the end.

The "game feel" is just perfect: the splat-a-tat-tat of the weapon, the dipping and diving, the swimming up walls and leaping over chasms. This game is so... so EAD.

I love it. <3

Nintendo deseves a ton of praise for the servers not going down at all on launch day.

The Testfires probably helped big-time there. First one was pretty much flawless but I'm sure they learned a lot after the second one crashed their servers.

The fast matchmaking is like crack. You don't even have a chance to think about taking a break cause it puts you in a new game so fast.

I noticed that TF2 seemed super-slow to me in terms of loading a match, respawn times, getting back to the action, etc after playing the Splatoon demo.

Granted, the server I was on was running 2Fort CTF, so that's not exactly the fastest mode in the game.

Everyone saying the final boss is amazing :O (still haven't finished it)

As creative and fun as the single player is, I wouldn't buy the game solely for it.

What genre is Splatoon. You shoot, but you also play hide and seek as a super fast squid. It's more an arcade game than an FPS or even TPS AFAIC.

Can mods ban everyone who doesn't make at least one pun in here? :D

You got to be squidding me, that's inkonceivable! But in the case that does happen, it paints me in a negative light. I better roller with it and tackle that at once then. And if it doesn't work the first time, I have another ten tackles coming.

Well it's definitely not a MOBA.

This hiding stuff behind Amiibo's is really starting to get to me...

I don't want to spend 13 bucks for a little extra content...let me unlock it.

Jesus, I may, MAY I tell you, have to buy this. The impressions of the MP are better than any other shooter type game that I've read about in a while.

You're really not missing anything, just an optional outfit than can be carried to multi otherwise it's just redoing the same missions but with another weapon.

They're pretty much achievements, having you go through the same thing in a certain way and the gear is just reskinned stuff, so you're not missing much of anything. The figures are worth it by themselves, but taking an added incentive away would probably hurt their allure.

Yeah and the outfits aren't even that great stats wise, I had items show up in the shop today which are the same strength, and obviously seen items on other people that are better.

I've gotta admit, the Kraken challenges are super fun though, as minor as they are.
