Donkey Kong Bananza |OT| Red Faction Gorilla

I can't believe this comes out in a few days. Really snuck up on me.

I told my coworkers I might take Thursday off to play this lol.

Hope it's not baby easy like Mario Odyssey to the point of boredom (yes, I collected most things in that game). At least not next year when I eventually buy it cos I ain't supporting these garbage practices LUL

No spoilers in that video, just what they've been hearing around for impressions on DKB

How do we have so many pages for a game we can't play and don't have reviews for yet?

Buying day one, kids already gave me the go ahead.

But seriously, I think I underscored the game by predicting 85-89 in the review prediction thread by a lot. To be seen but it seems EPD just knocked it out of the park

hot take: Nintendo should have delayed Switch 2 so this is the launch game.

Nah, makes perfect sense for them to spread the games out to add another round of headlines/news articles/sales after launch. Then later this month a Nintendo Direct with more Switch 2 announcements.

They've got a good plan/cadence going here.

Agree. Basically what i was thinking and keeps the flow of games and hype moving from release to release.

Are there non-spoiler impressions out there of the final build? I wanna know how the gameplay holds up over time and if the extra story stuff works with the franchise or gets too overwrought (the FFXV director handling this one gives me pause).

Otherwise I'm one hyped gorilla already, day one for sure.

Naw, that was wrong reporting

Hajime Tabata is quite a common name but the Luminous FF15 production COO is CEO of JP Games now.

edit 1 : Uh apparently there were dual reporting of different directors by different sources all in the span of a couple of days ago.

It seems Kazuya Takahashi is indeed director but was an art designer, that doesn't make sense.

edit 2: fucking hell there's even multiple Kazuya Takahashi within SE

It seems to be this guy, ex Sega & Square Enix

He was one of the director of Nights into dreams

But again, there's so many devs using that name its a wild guess, Haven't seen a single interview nailing down where he comes from except that he joined Nintendo in 2020. (so why would DKB been in development since 2017?)

This is a nonsequitur, but one of my favorite online moments this year was after they showed about 10 minutes of Bananza during its Direct, the entire YouTube chat changed from spamming "DROP THE PRICE" to "RAISE THE PRICE".

That was hilarious 😂

Why? It's already sold out everywhere and over 3.5 million sold in the first week, it's not like it would sell any better

If anything this was a test. Nintendo was weeding out who wasn't a true fan that would buy the Switch 2 at launch with just Mario Kart World, now they are going to start dropping the serious heat for the true fans

I would have paid $80 just for the unbelievable 200+ tracks MKW soundtrack. The fact that MKW also comes with a fun racing game is just icing on the cake
