Splatoon |OT| Squidstyler

Just been playing this with my friend and its awesome. Got to level 6, mostly first places, but there is so much depth to the weapons. So good.

Looking forward to teaming with you guys.

You were defending and only got 3 kills? That doesn't sound right. You should have a lot more kills than that if you're the main defender (assuming its not a blowout in witch case you usually will)

It's that middle area in Urchin. Lots of Splatting and running. Didn't leave that area the whole match. Lots of ninja tactics.

Are the Aerosprays and Splattershot Jrs overrated in Turf Wars?

I notice that I put up waaaaaay more points with them because of how well they cover, but have also noticed that matches tend to get flipped more often when my team is full of them. Have had rounds in Urchin Underpass where I get taken out by the other team in the middle, they take over the middle area, and then I have trouble approaching during the rest of the match.

Playing some rounds with the Dual Squelcher, I don't put up as many points but the rounds where we are ahead, we generally stay ahead. Just wall people out with that range and they can't approach.

I dunno, it's going to ultimately be about having a well-rounded team but I feel like the short-range weapons get too much of the glory. I play a lot of Aerospray myself. Maybe I should play more of the ranged stuff more often.
Yes. Using the dual squelcher is fun because of all the aerosprays. Points are overrated and the aerospray wracks up points. Theyre usually just padding their score and then complaining when they lose but have lots of points.

The points breakdown in the ranking seem to lead to the conclusion that you should be playing those weapons. I mean, I play a lot of Aerospray myself. They're great for coverage but bad for holding of people with more offensive-oriented choices, especially if there's more than one. You have to be pretty reactive and know your evasive tactics.

One thing I see often is people only really know one way to move with their weapon of choice and don't or can't adapt to the situations/opponents.

Kraken Roller or Gold Dynamo Roller for ranked?
I've been having some fun with the Gold Dynamo Roller, but I'm debating changing it. Aside from the skatepark and mackerel port, all the splat zones have too many obstacles in them for its wider range to really give much of a benefit.
Kraken Roller is the one all the Japanese A rank players are using with the ninja squid and quick special skills.

been having errors while being in the waiting lobby to join the gaf room, that was a new one

anyway, restarted my router and hope i can join you guys now, lol

nice commentary on walleye warehouse:

Callie: " There are so many boxes passing through here!"

Marie: "Maybe people should cut down on online shopping.."

I really need to add a lot of you guys that we bump into each other by joining mutual friends, but my friend list being full makes it a chore to go back and start deleting some peeps

Used the roller earlier, which i haven't invested much time and immediately I found that sub weapon usage is a must for clearing out spaces and forcing your opponents to move. Didn't use them much with my Splattershot but I find I really underestimated them.

So thanks roller for making me better at the game.

Seriously, Arowana Mall with it is insane

I don't personally use rollers (maybe when we get the brush) but I find the Kraken Roller scarier. It's always good to have someone with the beacon sub and the kraken special goes really well with rollers

Right now, SpeedTest says my download speed is 2.24Mbps. On a good day, it's more around 4Mbps.

2.24Mbps download speed seems kind of slow

WELP, can't even connect to the lobby now. Freakin' hell.

Also, I totally understand the "news flash" to let players know the stages of the day, but does it have to happen EVERY time I boot the game up, especially multiple times per day? Why not offer the option to skip?

I'd say the Dynamo. A good dynamo roller can basically defend the point alone if there's a high perch to throw ink from.

Don't worry, that'll end when you unlock ranked.

Yeah, switching up now and then is a good way to learn different play styles and the weaknesses of those types.

I'm doing the Amiibo challenges now and it's helping improve my mobility.

I don't have much problems with the online myself (maybe 2 or 3 disconnects total in over 30 hours?), but it's ridiculous to see so many other people get D/Ced. I feel like 1 out of 4 or 5 matches somebody disappears.

I'm an A rank with splatshoot Jr. if that tells you anything. Jr. can spread ink and turn a battle if needed with the bubbler, it just needs to be used with discipline.

Glad to see you finally admitted this >.>

...Fine, I'll go fiddle with the fucking router. ;_; I can't think of any other explanation. EDIT: Because sometimes I really have been lagging and DCing a ton. It's annoying as hell.

Just finish single player...man what a last boss!! Is been long since a last boss felt just right and felt epic fighting him! Wish they add more stages and bosses in a dlc!!

I tried this. You end up getting special SO fast and the ability to disappear around corners lets you bait people hard for quick kills. You gotta play smart, but it works well for shutting down areas of the map so long as they don't put a good scout above you throwing out radars.

It's interesting that you say that. I tend to score 200-300 points more than the rest of my team when I am using the Aerospray, but I also tend to win most of those matches as well. I feel like when talking about ink coverage, people tend to forget that spraying more doesn't just give you more points, it also gives you more mobility options. I find that my ability to cover so much area with ink means I can move around the battlefield more efficiently. The more ink I can get onto the ground as fast as possible, the more freely I can move around the battlefield, and the fewer options my opponents will have for flanking me or the like.

I haven't looked back since I moved to the Aerospray, as it wins me the vast majority of my games. That said, trying it in Splat Zones does highlight the limitations of the weapon. While I can get a positive k/d ratio in a match, I can't contribute to our victory as much as I'd like as with some of the other more aggressive weapons.

Yup I only rock the aero when I'm trying to level gear fast. My Pro can outrange an aero easy. Like fish in a barrel

Don't feel bad, my once godly internet is having it's own issues. I've been DC'ing left and right lately so it might be time to call Verizon.

My free time this past week in a nutshell:

  1. Play Splatoon
  2. "I should really take a break now. I'll read NeoGAF."
  3. Check the Splatoon thread
  4. "Wow, that's a great strategy/loadout/tactic... I need to try that!"
  5. Go to 1

Yeah, I feel like (in Turf Wars at least) you can play the short-range weapons pretty brainlessly and still put up 700+ points (pre-bonus) effortlessly. There have been plenty of games where I do 1000+ points in a losing effort, get all grouchy about it, and blame the rest of my team. I feel like I fall into a trap of thinking I'm good, just because I put up a bunch of points and have a decent kill/death ratio.

But honestly, the ranged players who are strategically walling the other team out while I go around and mindlessly paint and ninja people should get a lot more of the credit.

I always have to switch my brain when switching to the Dual Squelcher. It's just like, no, stop approaching the enemy. You don't need to approach. If there's no enemy ink near you, then can't touch you. But I want to go in anyway. Stupid Aerospray.

Walleye Warehouse is so good for the Dual Squelcher. Just strafe left and right for days. You own the whole middle section of the board.
