Hate to say it, but depending on how long they plan to draw out this trilogy it seems risky to book Ford for 3 movies. He's almost 10 years older than Hammill. Not saying he's going to pass away, but there's a good chance he'll struggle to pull off all the acting needed on set.

I think he's gonna die this episode.

And he broke his hip while filming this, which pushed back the release quite a bit.

All reasonable signs point to yes.

I'm really surprised (and saddened) that the score hasn't leaked yet. I've got it preordered, but I'd love to hear just a few tracks from it.

I'm hoping that Finn is force sensitive and trains to be a force user. I'd hate for him to get shafted after all the good images of him with the saber.

I've got a few black friends who weren't really fans of the OT (and lol at the Prequels) who are really digging what they've seen so far and are excited about the film because the guy holding the lightsaber in promos is black. They'll definitely be bummed if that turns out to be a red herring.

As a black dude, I totally understand where they're coming from is partially the reason I don't want it to happen either.

Please don't fuck us Abrams. Have Finn join Rey in her training after he recovers. Think of the awesome two on one lightsaber battle they could have with Kylo!

Finn will obviously make his way into being a main character. They're going to need a father to kill off in the fourth trilogy.

Didn't Ford initially want Han to die in ESB? Always had the idea that he just wanted off the SW train.

Nah it was in Jedi.

His death from the outside makes sense:
-Ford is 73 now and not the spring chicken he used to be
-He broke his hip on set and it delayed the film
-He wanted to die in Jedi

John Boyega is the main reason I'm excited for this movie. I really hope he doesn't end the movie in a hospital bed, or at least that he gets to become a jedi too in the sequels. This new trilogy doesn't need to have only one jedi in the main cast just because that's what the OT did.

The Force shouldn't Awaken in only one character, makes the title kinda shitty.

Also since Rey is basically undoubtedly the main jedi at least, give her a damn double bladed lightsaber. Please. I'm sick of all the main characters being forced to have single blades. Don't let double blades die with Maul in the movies

Its even less likely that EU elements were involved then. Lucas didnt give a shit about the publishing, and definitely wasn't using it as inspiration.

Kasdan, Abrams, Arndt and Lucas likely looked at anything from the defunct EU all of zero times.

Lucas liked some things from the EU. He didn't feel bound to it and didn't consider it canon but he liked to dabble in it from time to time. I think the idea that he 100% didn't have any interest in it at all is a bit overblown. He was a big fan of Dark Empire, for example, and when writing the prequels he would consult a big encyclopedia to make sure that names and concepts didn't conflict with things that had already been done before (unless he just didn't care, like with Boba).

I guess there's no real way to know unless we find out one day what exactly Lucas' notes entailed.

The double bladed lightsaber is unbelievably stupid. Please no. They could always have someone fight with two lightsabers instead.

God damn these toys just scream kill me!

Anyone else read Star Wars: Aftermath? It's a bit of a meh read, but there are some interesting tidbits I thought I'd share, especially since it is a book that is tied into TFA.

On Tatooine, we learn that Boba Fett's Mandalorian battle armor survived the Sarlacc pit, and someone has purchased it. Doesn't one of the KOR guys have armor that appears similar?

There are Vader worshippers. On Taris, worshippers attempt to buy his lightsaber, though it’s almost definitely a fake. There is also graffiti of Vader, a stencil of a familiar Sith Lord’s helmet with the phrase beneath it reading VADER LIVES. I wonder if Kylo Ren is part of this cult, considering he has the helmet on display?

There is a new droid named Mr. Bones. He is a battle droid covered in rattling animal bones with half of his head missing and a telescopic red eye in its place. Here’s how he describes one fight: “I PERFORMED VIOLENCE.” We need to see this fucking thing in the movie.

Nah it was in Jedi.

Tbh his character was fairly useless in Jedi. I think ESB Han Solo to ROTJ Han Solo is one of the biggest nerfings of a character in history. He barely does anything in the film and is just kind of there because the character is supposed to be there. Totally makes sense that the original script had him dying, but they could have incorporated him a lot better after they reversed that decision.

- Gets freed from Jabba's Palace, is blind for the whole thing
- A few lines of dialogue on Ackbar's ship
- Leads the Endor strike team, but other characters do all the cool stuff
- Gets "I love you"/"I know" reversed by Leia

The only real contribution he makes is to fake being a stormtrooper commander to get the gates open. And that's it. Leia and Lando are the main contributors in that movie aside from Luke. Even Chewie does more on Endor.

I'm sort of okay with Ford biting the dust. Gives Hammil a bigger chance to be noticed by studio execs again. I can potentially see Mark doing more non-Sci-Fi projects due to the exposure this, and future Star Wars projects will be giving him.

Different group, unless they morph into the Knights of Ren. The group in the book is the Acolytes of the Beyond.

Guys, all i need to know is this: is Finn force sensitive?, im really hoping he is, or at least, he will become one later on...

Nobody knows, but there is nothing in the leaks that explicitly points to it.

Let's remember the most important one...

- Makes sure Luke, and Leia don't make incest babies

For some reason I originally thought that you need the force to even use and control a lightsaber. That it actually takes some amount of (force)energy and concentration to keep the light in check forcing it into a saber like shape. I was kind of disappointed when I found out that's not the case.

But we've known that wasn't true ever since ESB when Han opened the tauntan with Luke's lightsaber...?

The double bladed lightsaber is amazing, and its disuse in everything but the EU is a crime. It's no less dumb than Kylo Ren's crossguard, considering people actually fought with staves in real life. There needs to be someone who specializes in two sabers as well though, no argument there.

Finn getting two and Rey getting a double blade would be my dream. I'm just sick of one single blade. We've seen that enough, take advantage of all the other shit.

I think you need to be a Jedi to build a lightsaber. Anyone can swing one around, but you more than likely will kill yourself before you master it. Jedi's can see into the future, that's why they can kick ass with them.
