1 - School settings can be well-executed depending on the quality of the show. (it is terribly overused though)

2 - None of the characters in Nichijou could be classified as loli's, being a loli would haft to imply some sexualization of some kind. So far there is absolutely none in nichijou.

3 - Yeah they can be annoying!

Yeah, but if you're looking for a "laugh out loud" comedy, HanaIro (is that the official contraction/portmanteau? ) probably doesn't fit the bill. I suppose one is better at being a slice of life show than the other at being a slice of life comedy though.
