Anime bloggers arrange screenshots and occasionally add attach a small amount of text, but in a manner that won't distract from the exciting gallery.

You know what elevates Aoi Hana above the typical slice-of-life show? I mean, besides the characters being a perfect mix of cute idealizations and believable human beings, of course. The top-notch visual acting. Aoi Hana successfully relied on the visual acting to sell the characters and situations to audience.

This is an element important of Hanasaku Iroha as well. Which isn't to say that both shows have similar character types, but rather that HI combines certain character types with an agreeable level of exaggeration. They make them entertaining, without making them ridiculous. Walking that line is difficult and it remains to be seen if they'll maintain the balance.

Also, is it me or have OPINIONS discussions in this thread gotten worse lately? I think people kind of used to somewhat justify their OPINIONS in the past; nowadays, we just post what we think and don't bother trying to argument why we think what we think. Maybe we just, like duckroll said, realized that nobody actually reads half of what we post in these threads.

I haft to admit I'm kinda lukewarm on the show, the animation and direction are up to the usual high-standard kyoani set with K-ON, but the characters aren't engaging me yet, at least the characters in K-ON were memorable!

The chase scene in #2 was excellent though.

Those brands of discussions have been fluctuating lately.

There was largely nothing wrong with doomed1's discussion on Madoka as a whole, but it was a little tainted by that he already had a pre-opionion on Madoka before he watched it, and it felt like he was trying too hard to justify his pre-judgment at times.

And then there was the "Anime humour meh, leave it to westerners", where the poster tried to come off as a victim when challenged instead of stating why western humour is superior.

I always try to justify my opinions in long-ass posts that no one reads, and for old stuff no one really cares or remembers enough to discuss, mostly so Jexhius won't cut me. But that's where we get into personal blog territory - not that I really mind this being a collective blog for animugaf.

It's also tricky to have a disagreement about something that ends at a natural point e.g. where both parties realise they've arrived at the 'fundamental disagreement' which is the basis of their disagreement. There's a tendency for both parties to pursue the argument by reframing their original complaints in a slightly different way in an attempt to 'win' the argument until it goes around in circles forever. I guess at least you have a debate there!

Saw the abnormal psychology thing in the description and thought it might be interesting in some way; especially since I have been pleasently suprised by some shows recently. First of all the show has a strange no-nose/dojinshi style to it that I kinda liked at first but then lost interest in. The show tried to create some randomness to it but the jokes fell flat on me and even seemed gross at times.

The bathtub fart thing especially. I could see why it could be funny but it wasn't

. The shows characters seemed very one dimensional as well. Overall I did not like the show and do not recomend

Having perfect pitch doesn't make you a good musician.

Doesn't account for laziness or anything like that, but a focused music curriculum would make someone with perfect pitch a good technical musician AS WELL AS an intuitive musician. No joke, with formal training, someone with Yui's ear could very easily be a prolific professional. At the least a session musician.

Anyway, in much a more important subject, I feel like most otomen in anime are extremely cheap; they're basically what you get by drawing a female and then saying that it is a man. Convincingly androgynous characters in anime are rare.

I'll probably keep up with Nichijou because of the animation and the music (I'm a sucker for orchestral soundtracks), plus it takes me zero effort to watch it.

This is my feeling on Nichijou. The animation porn, great music, and occasional funny moment are enough for me. For now anyway. I may grow bored of it later down the line.

I don't know how "useful" perfect pitch is, but speaking as someone who's 99% positive his brother has it in some form (what would be the best way to test for something like that anyway?) it's still quite fascinating what people can do with it.
