I'm pretty sure no one cares at this point since none of the Spring 2011 characters are in it, but International Saimoe has finally begun their main competition. Sure, it lacks the brutal efficiency of the regular Saimoe, which runs through 100+ contestants in 2 months versus ISML which takes 7 months to process just 50, but you do get more matchups that way I guess.

Anyway here you go. There's about, oh, ten hours or so left for this round, so vote if you feel like it.

Disgusting number of Angel Beats characters in that. And then it puts the only two decent ones against each other.

I don't really see how allowing K-on and Clannad to dominate anything makes for a better contest.
It doesn't. I never said it was a well-run contest, just that they at least opened the door. Blame the voters for pushing the moeblob stuff instead of series like Urusei Yatsura. They won't make room by banning the likes of K-On and such because it would cause voter participation to drop like a rock.

The worst part is that I really really liked the twist where
all the wacky hijinx and comedy shenanigans ended up being an instinctive coping mechanism on Sasshi's part for you-know-what
and I was actually genuinely interested in where they were going with it.

Turns out they were going directly off a mile-high cliff Thelma and Louise style. Ah well, I still liked the show overall regardless because of the comedy.

I thought it was going to be a coming-of-age tale but instead
the moral of the story is that if you escape reality long enough, you can make reality be whatever you wanted it to be in the first place!
So stupid.

There hasn't been a good mecha series in a while.
Gundam Unicorn is happening right now!

Beaten.

Also, 2009 gave us True Mazinger by fricking Yasuhiro Imagawa. If people couldn't get hype for such awesomness it means their souls have already been corrupted.

Sweet, they released a before/after comparison from the upcoming Project A-ko release!

I'm so buying it and I'm so going to think it's totally crap now. But looks a lot cleaner although it may be a tad too colorful, we'll see.

Not that we really need a new mecha anime every season just to remind people that it exists, considering it's been a part of anime for so very long. Even if mecha fans are kind of scary.

whats the best website(s) to import USA Anime DVD's? (im from the UK)

thanks if you can help? :)
You can order straight of Amazon, which is usually the easiest way.

Isn't Tiger and Bunny a mecha series?
Their powers come from themselves, not their costumes.

Although when you get down to very small mecha suits it becomes harder to say.

It was dead as soon as there was no SaiGoodCharacters.
Even if they had that people would just vote in moe characters or tragedy porn characters.

Is there no escape from the Key Menace?

I've brought this up before, but somebody really needs to explain the ending of this show to me.
The bad guys just pulled a surprise victory and it just ended. You can't just end a series like that. It made me felt like I was missing something

Certainly, you just log in with your amazon UK account and purchase it as usual, making sure that your destination is your home address.

What is the story with this show? Did it start good and get bad?

It was a heavily hyped BONES show. Remember when BONES meant good? It started bad and became OMFG why am I watching this bad towards the end.

It started bad and I dropped it early because it was bad so I couldn't really tell you how bad it got. I'd assume it stayed bad or just got worse, though.

As far I'm aware, in the manga and the original show
this defeat is the set up for the arrival of the Great Mazinger to swoop in and help Kouji and the Mazinger save the day. At least, that's how the original and Mazinger Z vs. The Great General of Darkness told the story. In other words, it's the cliffhanger set up for a sequel.

Ooh lists! Here's mine!
2006
Genshiken
Ghost Hunt
Higurashi (not really good but worth seeing)

2007
Baccano!
Dennō Coil
Kino's Journey
Minami-ke
Moribito
Moyasimon
Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei
Sword of the Stranger

2008
Goku: Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei
Kure-nai
Michiko to Hatchin
Natsume's Book of Friends
Spice and Wolf
Zoku Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei

2009
Cross Game
Higurashi
Maria Holic
Natsu no Arashi!
Spice and Wolf 2
Zan: Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei
Zan: Sayonara, Zetsubou-Sensei Bangaichi
Zoku Natsume's Book of Friends

That's just the stuff I'd still watch, I left off some things that weren't total crap but also weren't worth going back to watch liker Bamboo Blade and Kannagi.
Higurashi should have been on my list (for '06), that was interesting enough to list...

Also, I forgot about that 2007 Kino movie of sorts, obviously that should be on my list too (given how the TV series is one of my favorites).

Apart from those though, Spice and Wolf and Minami-ke are the only other things on both of our lists. You didn't do a 2010 list though there, what about that year?:)

Indeed, the ending was quite unfortunate. It's status as primarily a comedy goes a long way in cushioning that blow at least.
I kind of forget the ending, but I do remember it being quite odd, and yeah, not really comedy... there was some long thing about some architect who had designed Abenobashi, or something?

Abenoboshi by itself is better than most of JC Staff's output.
I don't know whether this is true or not, but as good as Abenobashi was, it's certainly not better than Azumanga.

I hear R.O.D TV was also decent
That is true, it's good.

Project A-ko isn't very good... a little amusing perhaps but not good. Also, those two versions look pretty similar, that's barely changed.

Yeah, I do think it's a tad much to be honest. Seems to be the current concept of what looks good these days among the ignorant masses who crush all the detail out of their TVs. Like how the red is bleeding out into the black around her hair! Damnit.

the difference is that I already knew of shotas beforehand, sadly, and I didn't have to go out of my way and soil myself in the process of trying to ruin you. but you'd be consciously dirtying the both of us with your disgusting theoretical fanart here.
It's more fun to dirty two people than one! Further, surely it's better to dirty your hands only when dirtying others than just be plain dirty by nature, right?

Anyways, turns out I don't need to do much, that Holo pic in the thread's banner? Yeah, it's from a naked fan-art pic, you've been dirty all this time without even knowing it!
So had I, I just forgot.

Well, it started with a great episode and ended with a great episode but nearly everything in between was forgettable.

Speaking of Key, as its fourth main series, why did Little Busters never get an anime adaptation unlike its previous bretheren? They determined it wouldn't be a good fit for the market, or that it would get overshadowed by other stuff or what?

EDIT: Or maybe KyoAni realized they could make way more money by continuing to make more K-On and Haruhi stuff.

Definitely not implying that in the least.

For me Azumanga and Toradora are 1A and 1B in my ranking of JC Staff shows.

Index is 1C, right?
