Just what do you need to see now for someone to be naked?

Anyways, Utena set 2 set for August 2nd.
Hurray! I've ordered the Student Council set although I have the original DVDs for those episodes already - I only ever managed to buy the first Black Rose DVD the last time round, looking forward to it all.
I'm so glad I have expendable income at the moment, I can finally catch up on the DVDs I meant to buy when I was a student and actually watched anime. Gankutsuou, Kurau and HachiKuro box sets on their way as I type~
I only live with two cats and I'm not convinced it'd be safe around them either.

On the http://utena.rightstuf.com/ site it says people who pre-order all three will get a secret gift! I bet it's something lame but maybe it's something cool like the soundtrack or movie, either way I'll have to keep my eyes peeled and pre-order the third as well once it's available as I can always cancel if the gift is lame but once released I can never again pre-order.
Holo has the best character. Still unsure of that figure though the facial imperfections really put me off... If there is a better one I'll get it though. I like her purple dress get up so one like that would be preferable.

I've never bought anything through Right Stuf directly because they used to ask you to scan in your credit card if you're ordering from outside the USA. Do they still do that? I remember when they were selling all the Cardcaptor Sakura DVDs for about £5 or something ridiculous and I couldn't buy them

I don't have the email anymore, but I think when they asked me to do that (in 2004) I asked if I could blur out most of the numbers on the card, and they said it was fine back then.
It may have been a different site, but I had been asked to do that more than once for different sites.
.hack//Quantum 03 - Over already? That's too bad, that was really good... episode three was every bit as good as the first two, and my initial impressions that it was easily one of the best animes of the year so far continued through to the end. It's just sad that that end came so soon, three half hour OVAs aren't much, even if they are as well produced as this. It feels sort of like a film, and indeed this third one, like the others, has some impressive CG work. However, there were some parts that felt rushed; with more time they surely could have fixed those problems, but they only had three OVAs. Even Liminality was longer... oh well, at least what was there (in Quantum) was great!
As for the story, this episode is about the final battles, as our heroine (Sayaka I think?) and the others fighting against the Hermit band together to stop him and the monsters he has unleashed. There are some interesting revelations about who he is, and everything is resolved in a conclusion that is conclusive, but as I said would have felt a little better with a bit more explanation of the whys of why stuff happened. Anyway though, spoilers.
First, that little girl character (guildmaster of the friendly guild helping the main character) who sounds like a guy is funny, obviously the idea is a guy playing as a little girl and using voice chat or something. It works, .hack usually have far too few people playing opposite-gender characters... it's actually quite common in real online games, while in .hack most people conveniently play as characters of the same gender. Also though, Quantum is the first time that the characters spoke with their real-life players' voice; in Sign for instance, the characters spoke in their own voices, appropriate to the character, not in the voice of the real person. I mean, sure, we never heard their real voices in Sign, but it's clear it wasn't because of the few playing opposite gender characters, at minimum. Quantum's alternate take there is interesting, and fits the MMO theme well.
Also, it's interesting that that guild there ended up playing such a key role in defeating the badguy, sure the heroine finished him off but only after that guild fired their giant cannon at the summoned tree keeping people from logging out, or whatever.
Moving on to the main plot,
the identity of the Hermit character was interesting, he actually WAS the boy's spirit, which had gotten trapped in the game before the child "died"? Huh. He did it all to find a donor, so it's alright! No matter that he put numerous people into comas, caused pain to many, and more, it was for a good cause so it was all okay...
Um, yeah, I have a problem with that, sure the ends were good but that doesn't justify all of the means that he undertook to get there! But in Quantum he's not actually evil despite everything he did because of who he is. He claims that he just didn't think about the consequences of his actions, and none of the goodguys call him on that for what it is -- slipping into evil without noticing. In that way he's kind of like an inverse Tsukasa, sort of... but still, in the end he convinces Sayaka to end his digital existence in the gameworld, in order to right things and because if he's really dead he doesn't want to keep going on wandering around .hack's world indefinitely. She does.
But wait, in the end in a phonecall it's revealed that he's not actually dead, just in cryogenic suspension, with his brain hooked into some network that uses the brains of criminals as a quantum computer. How odd. Somehow he'd been put into that network by some other unknown evil, that used him for unknown ends. Sounds like room for a followup...
And that is confirmed with the next scene, where we see that the friend who had fallen into a coma in ep. 1 has recovered. Apparently the people the Hermit put into comas came out of them when he was destroyed in the game. I think. That's good, but I wish they'd made it a bit more clear, they just kind of ... showed all three of them there, without, I thought, much explanation of it. Sure, there had been some foreshadowing -- apparently the one in the coma had been seen in the zone where the great battle in this OVA takes place, before the battle, and her brainwaves spiked (ie she headed towards consciousness) at the same time -- but still, it could have been done better. Oh well.
(Oh, so I assume that the other people who he put into comas recovered too, when Sayaka's friend did? The episode says nothing about it, but if she recovered hopefully the others did as well.)
On the note of that battle, yeah the CG work really was great here... that huge giant was impressive, the battle very well animated, everything was just done brilliantly. It looked great. But still, despite fighting being a part of it, it wasn't the central focus. The central focus was on the plot; action scenes simply happened in between the plot parts that were the real core of the film. It's a compromise, clearly, as Quantum has far more action than Sign (or Liminality, I'm pretty sure), but they managed a good balance overall. Quantum has both a good, and interesting, story and great action scenes. And they managed to do both well in one short three episode OVA series, too -- a somewhat impressive feat.
So yeah, overall, a few minor issues aside, .hack//Quantum was great. I really, really liked it, best .hack thing in years.

.hack//Quantum 3 - I almost forgot this existed, been a while since the second episode. Ending was about what could be expected for only having an episode left to wrap things up. Though they didn't explain why the loli guild leader had the data drain bracelet. Most interesting thing was the fact that they use
the mind of imprisoned criminals as a kind of supercomputer, even though it just got kinda tossed in at the end.
I think I liked the first episode the most, just because of the RPG shenanigans.
Yeah, other than feeling somewhat rushed because of time limitations from the sadly short amount of time they had to work with, it really was quite good. I agree about your complaints --
there are indeed things it didn't explain, like where that bracelet came from, whether everyone put into comas woke up for sure afterwards, how exactly that supercomputer system worked, etc...
they just didn't have time clearly, but still it's a little annoying. It's great anyway, the action and story are good and the visuals fantastic, but I do wish they'd had a little more time. Oh well.
Someone should do a slice of life .hack, I'd watch cute girls doing cute MMORPG things. There can even be virtual cake.
An entire show like the first episode, you mean? I'd watch it for sure, and it'd probably be good... I like the drama side of .hack a lot, when it's done as well as Sign, Liminality, or here, but still, a show like that would definitely be fun to watch.
Surely the boob physics, the boob sound effects, the out of the way panty shots and it being an anime gave you at least some inclination of what's to come.

I don't like how some of the scenes were altered and fillers, but it's nice to see what he's thinking at times. Hope they don't put too many fillers and alter to much.
Okay, now I feel like I have a bunch of answers but no idea what the questions actually were. I think I just sat through about an hour's worth of discussion about metaphysics and the collective human unconscious.
Someone please tell me that there's a definite explanation for what's going on and it isn't one of those things that's just left "up to speculation."
Even though this episode had worse pacing and storyboarding then the previous few episodes, it technically has a better story because we actually get a tiny drop of character development and foreshadowing for later events!
OreImo Kuroneko is a bad tsundere routeIt's been so long that I can't remember if this was just a bland episode or if the entire show was just a series of nerd references linked together by a tsundere girl yelling at the main character.
You know what the fucked up part is? I am gonna remember that for the rest of my life and yet I can't remember what I read in a textbook during a exam. It doesn't matter how much I study, I always forget something. Yet, I can now write a whole essay about Boku no Pico.
I love me some giant robots, but even I watched through the first half of GaoGaiGar at 2x speed. Even though it was recommended that I could 'skip' it entirely to get to the more exciting parts.
I kind of wish I could be watching it at the same time as Enma-kun though (which airs in about 20 minutes).

I generally don't have anyone to walk in on me when I'm watching anime. But, with a few exceptions, I wouldn't be embarrassed if someone did. The need to be seen as "mature" by others is itself childish.
Yellow is nice and readable, but not really necessary any more.

Yeah, most fansubbers have no idea how to style subs at all. 10px padding, colors that blend in, small fonts, unreadable fancy fonts... the list goes on. Bleh.

I know we can't talk about downloads, but how about ways to watch Japanese TV live? I know when we have events like the Grammys and stuff people post streams, but I wanted to be sure.
C: the anime
I approve. Wish they didn't use so much CG though, the cheapskates.
I like the OP, and apparently I like NICO Touches the Walls now too.
Ano Hana is looking to be one of my favorites so far.
Feet and legs the anim-I mean Denpa Onna didn't really catch my interest that much yet, but I'll give it a few more eps
I like Tiger and Bunny
Hanasaku Iroha :
"I see Anger! I see Pride! I see a bad ass MC, who dont take NO crap, off of NOBODY!
Nichijou: Goddamn catchy OP some eps have boring stretches, like the faux rich kid, ep 2 was great
Steins;gate Love his laugh, that guy's insane! Yet such a crazy guy gets such a big harem in only 3 episodes
The plot's interesting, I really have no idea where they're gonna go with it.
Maria Holic: Alive
Ep1 was boring, Ep 2 was less boring, half the reason I watched S1 was because it had a great OP +ED
Gonna wait and see before watching anything else this season, unless it's something really good, I have an EXTENSIVE backlog I need to get through.
Everyone is saying the animation is bad... but I honestly can't see it. I don't doubt that they aren't right, but I find it about as dynamic as the new season of Maria Holic.
Honey and Clover can have that affect, especially considering how light-hearted it is at the onset.

It's a pretty solid show, worth watching but not the best BONES show.
I recently finished it, might watch the ova for abit more of a conclusion though.
A bit more? It's more like the only time anything actually conclusive happens!

I called it 'surprisingly cheap'. Surprising since it's a Production I.G. show, one of the studios known for high quality stuff, even if it isn't one of their top teams working on it.
What I meant with my post is that Moshidora, along with a bunch of other stuff like the shows I mentioned and Bungaku Shoujo, can't be considered a Production I.G work because even if it credits Production I.G for Animation Production the bulk of the animation is done by TransArts.
