Yeah, that's all. I just thought it was nice and added a bit to the song.
Yeah, I thought it was cute. I love eccentric girls so the whole show kind of struck me right off the bat. The fact that the protagonist isn't a fucking idiot definitely helped. There's been a fair amount of decent protagonists recently, can't say that I hate it. Nice to have a change in that department after what has seemed like years of shitty protags.

I don't know, really. Maybe I'm just a sucker for weird SHAFT openings, but the intentionally bad singing and nonsensical visuals were great, I thought.
SHAFT do a lot of great opening, but that's certainly not one of them.

What's the good stuff? I'm going to give all of those shows at least four episodes (I always do)
That's a crazy amount of time. Most shows don't deserve a single minute of your life, especially considering that most programs are utter trash.

Then again, I have faith in other Gaffers to past wide judgement on shows that I can't be bothered to check out.

I'm starting to think 12 episodes is not gonna feel like enough for this show. For all its ugliness it's still very interesting.
I hope it's the perfect amount of time for it not to go wildly off the rails. He's done well with single cour works before.

IRC is a passimg fad. It'll never last long.

Why do you guys always do crazy shit on weekends when I'm busy?
Ah, more stuff happening in a different time zone.

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
Front Innocent: Too much recycled animation. Hair had a lot of detail though.

A Channel 1, 2, & 3. Cute, gorgeous, and pointless. I don't really have a huge problem with that. If more pointless shows could be this pretty the world would be a better place. I'm a sucker for scenery porn. Definitely very slow, though. The fanservice in episode 2 was a little heavy, but whatever. I love the teachers, especially apathy-sensei. Will probably continue with it.

Some shows just take a while to get going, and that's okay with me. Unless it's exceptionally terrible I try to give it the benefit of the doubt for at least that long.

I can't believe you're still watching A-Channel. I would have bailed halfway through episode 1.

Oh wait, I did.

Speaking of quirky OPs, it's a shame they wasted style on A-Channel's. It sure is something to show the actual CD art for the song during the opening itself.

The show itself is the most shallow use of the four-girl-high-school-ensemble-slice-of-life that I've ever seen.
I need to go watch Hyakko or something.

Like I said, I give everything four episodes. Just started watching this season's shows yesterday, so I'm going down the list pretty much alphabetically.

It's definitely not the best slice-of-life around, but it sure is pretty.

I can believe it. I haven't watched past episode 1, but it had a certain relaxing atmosphere to it. Nothing really happened, and the various scenes were boring or awkward (except tit slap), but it was still pretty mellow to follow.

Okay, I have to admit the "PI-TAH DRUK-AH" at the start of every Moshidora episode makes me laugh a bit. Don't know why I find the accent that funny.

Yeah, Softenni is the same. Breast size envy is like the one gag these texts keep going back to.

On the subject of Softtenni, the latest episode physically censored the whole screen for a minute and a half, saying it was too much for it to be viewed, then when the screen went back up shitty president girl was riding some beaver thing naked. Given what gets viewed in general that came as to some surprise.

Yep, like I bitched about earlier, it was probably a tsunami scene they didn't bother to edit out. So fucking lazy.

Aye, that was my reasoning. It was a nice break after Deadman and [C]. I don't have a big issue with slow, light-hearted shows. When they start making me feel deliberately uncomfortable I will step out, but so far A Channel has avoided that.

Ah that makes sense, still I thought it was a setup to some gag for about 20 seconds, and it doesn't seem like having this show in chronological order is imperitive, outside of british girl's introduction.

In a just world, Risa and Miya would be real friends, Rihoko's friendzoned, Ai and Sae aren't part of the harem, Haruka is the delectable flirt, Hibiki is the senpai, Sensei is also a life counselor, and Ayatsuji and Kaoru will be the main heroines in the love triangle for the MC.

Now reboot the series with a different director. Easy money Japan. Another 26 episodes series sounds about right.

Episode 26 is out? Is it the one about Miya? I want to see that!
I watched the first half and skimmed the rest. You'll have to wait longer to watch it properly.

And yes, it's the one with Miya.

Gosick 13 - Another great episode from one of this year's better animes! This episode starts a new arc, about Kujo, Victorique, and the philosopher's stone. Or rather, an alchemist who claimed to create gold and blue roses with said stone, and who also is a murderer still killing even decades after his death. Victorique will have to unravel the mystery. It's a good setup, and I have no idea where this is going to go, as far as the mystery goes... it was definitely a good episode both in terms of plot and the new story arc.

The sidestory, of Avril being jealous of Kujo's feelings for Victorique even though she hasn't met Victorique herself, is just okay, but the main story's good. They explore a dilapidated clock tower, which is still running despite not being in good condition. A man is murdered. That alchemist's book just happens to get Victorique's attention. And from there the mystery is on... it promises to be a good arc, maybe the best one yet set on or near the school campus? :)

Oh, there's a new ED animation, and maybe OP too, for the midpoint of the show I assume. Gosick really has very good art direction, in this episode the clock tower in particular has a great, appropriately creepy look to it. There was also a lot of darkness in this episode, which fits the tone well. Very good series.

So is ep. 3 still worth watching, with such a giant cut?

... Of course the show as a whole probably isn't worth watching, but beyond that.

Shocking, truly shocking. So will we have nothing to talk about this season?

I figure if you could read a real Japanese list it'd only prove my point!
Maybe, maybe not, who knows. Ask someone who could find such lists much more easily than I could. :)

The one's I have seen, can't say I've seen enough to say I like all their movies.
I haven't seen anywhere near all of Miyazaki's movies either, but I have liked all of the ones I've seen, and really liked the better ones (Princess Mononoke, etc.).

Toriko anime is pretty disappointing. It's much more, err, cutesy, bright and less violent and retro than the manga. They even added some new cutesy characters or at least gave some old ones more prominence.

Dog Days 1, 2, 3, & 4. Well... I suppose if you completely shut off your brain this one can be entertaining. For at least the first episode I was continually asking myself what the fuck I was watching. It's gets a little more coherent later on but I probably won't be continuing past episode four unless there's nothing else that's better this season, and with 13 shows left in the queue I highly doubt that will be the case.

It's on a par with A-channel which isn't saying much, and the cut doesn't make the gag unwatchable, but it's one of those things it's best to know about beforehand so you know to skip that section without thinking it's supposed to be part of a gag.

This reminds me, I still haven't seen Gurren-Hen or Lagann-Hen, and without an R1 release I probably never will.
They were both released last summer.

How they were sold was pretty stupid (could only get them from the Bandai store), but now you can buy them on Amazon through 'bandaientertainment'. They probably won't be dropping in price too much soon since they weren't widely available.

Standard anime movie fare. Mostly the same content/story arc, with some scattered brand new scenes and fancied-up old scenes. Entirely new/extended ending, though. I bought both limited editions. Looks like it's on Netflix too if you don't want to throw down the $50 minimum to get both discs.

Ah thanks, guess Ill get it on netflix, if only Bandai would release these things as blu-rays then I would surely buy.

Unsurprisingly, this was storyboarded by the excellent OP director Masashi Ishihama, who also did Welcome to the NHK, Kamichu!, and Speed Grapher. (I'd guess he did the Druaga openings too but ANN doesn't have credits for those).

You wouldn't catch me dead watching the show itself, but that IS a good OP.

Guess that explains why Speed Grapher's OP was the only good thing it had going for it.
