Were you looking for these?

(I'm not sure if these violate any rules, so someone tell me if they do)
I wanted a gif of Ranko's toes before the scene pictured in the gifs you linked, actually.
I don't actually know any, but considering a few characters relationship and the fact the LN started 3 years ago, I'd be pretty surprised if there wasn't at least one NTR doujin.
You've let me down for the last time.

The sales thread over at the Mania forums that I like to follow has just had a detailed post about the current status of preorders for the season, and I thought some of its findings were interesting enough to share. Nothing is set in stone, of course, but distinguishing yourself from the pack early on is a promising sign. To summarize:

The best-performing shows are Nyarko; then Accel World, Eureka Seven AO, and Hyouka; then Jormungand, Sakamichi no Apollon (!), and Saki.

The worst-performing shows, almost certainly total bombs, are Acchi Kocchi, Hiiro no Kakera, Shining Hearts, Sengoku Collection, and Upotte.

Well, it's almost good news to see good to see the better shows being rewarded by people pre-ordering them.

Accel World 05

The amount of NTR work this show is going to inspire is gonna be enormous.

Stupid Haru got greedy during that combo.
kuroyukihime is a homura expy :I

You know, Legend of the Galactic Heroes doesn't get shorter because you aren't watching it!
I can sense your overwhelming sense of disappointment when it comes to Upotte! sales.

Upotte! got what was coming to it - it probably wasn't accurate enough for gun otaku (any small mistake would probably piss them off immensity) and they aren't a big audience anyway. On the other hand it wasn't fanservice enough for the fanservice audience or cute enough for the K-On! audience.

So Jexhius, on the topic of time dilution, which do you feel is more harmful to narrative?

- Fate/Zero ep14-15 comprise of 41 minutes of animation, but cover 15 minutes of events in actual show chronology.

- Kids on the Slope ep3-4 comprise of 39 minutes of animation, but cover about 5 months of events in actual show chronology.

Discuss!!!!

Neither is a problem if it's done well.

Legend of the Galactic Heroes 012

This episode was mainly setup for the Alliance's invasion of the Empire, but it managed to cram some interesting ideas into the mix. From the unbridled patriotism of Douche McWhatsHisFace to the opportunism of Mrs. ItsElectionYearsoweGottaWar it seems like the Alliance is taking every single chance they can to get fucked up the arse. Can't say I'm rooting for them right now.

I particularly liked the talk between Yang and his superior, question soldier duty while still abiding to the unreasonable demands from the politicians. That was like, what, three whole dimensions of character in the span of two sentences? LotGH may be wordy, but it is not verbose.

I hate marathoning through anime, dude. I tend to keep missing stuff when I watch something back-to-back, especially for long shows like this one.
Gonna try again. Is it this one or this one?
BOTH

I wanna zombie love you.

Shit, I'm imagining it right now, and this is the most amazing thing. Imagine it with me! The camera is on the hand delivering the slap, and its moving towards the screen in slow motion. While this is happening, we hear an internal monologue from the guy who is about the receive the slap, and he is talking about the angle of the hand and the momentum applied, and how much force he has to exert to block it. Then just before the slap connects with the camera, a open palm blocks it at the wrist with a dramatic sound effect. Close-up on the eyes of the person doing the slapping. Internal monologue about the audacity the guy has to block a slap he deserves. Close-up on the eyes of the guy blocking the slap. Internal monologue about how he doesn't deserve this, and he won't let himself be humiliated any further. Camera pans across the legs of both parties from the ground angle, showing how they are both holding their ground. Staring montage. Growls of determination from both parties. Super slow motion scene of the aggressor removing the blocking hand with the free hand. Close-up of the slapping palm moving one frame per second as it slowly moves towards the guy's cheek. Suddenly, just before it connects, a third party's voice interrupts. Bird's eye view camera of the entire classroom, with the two characters in the middle, interrupted mid-slap by a teacher at the door. Freeze frame. To be continued end card.

It seems like you were a little bored.

THESE ARE IMAGES THAT STUDIO DEEN ACTUALLY PRODUCED (maybe, well, it was probably a studio that specialises in background art, but it's in a DEEN show!)

This season really is ridiculous when it comes to background art. I can't remember the last time we had so many different shows with interesting and artfully produced backgrounds.

It only makes Accel World's shame all the more apparent.

All the shows you mention aired after midnight, and thus their genre doesn't matter - no one's going to be watching them! When shows air is the most important factor in what demographic they're aiming for and how long they will probably last.
Those are just examples I picked out from a list, rather than representatives of the whole. I don't know what percentage of 13 episode anime airs in that late night slot, but I imagine it's a large proportion of it, which would in turn mean that a most anime airs at late night.

Of course, the time when anime airs in the rest of the world is also important when considering it's length - long running 'kids shows' Astro Boy, Kimba, Marco, Heidi and so forth were extremely popular shows internationally (probably viewed by more people than anime any today) and we can assume these were shown in the afternoon.

That's "Fork" to you!

I can't understand how anyone could possibly forget a characters name, after all, they write it up on screen and everything! Easy peasy:

The Light of El Cantare
Dusk Maiden of Amnesia 04:

Add my voice to the consensus that the show is getting better with each episode. It's never not going to be junk food anime at its core, but it's hitting all of the right notes for me. Between the abandoned building porn, the fun characters, the light supernatural mysteries, and the SHAFT-y visual quirks and fanservice, this is the kind of thing that I feel okay shutting my brain off to watch.

Yuuko's mischief continues to generate comedy. Being my ghost girlfriend would probably be the only thing that would allow me to forgive her for
waking me up in the middle of the night and dragging me through the entirety of an abandoned school just to trick me into believing that I was going to die from a curse
. Of course, there always seems to be an underlying motive behind Yuuko's whims, and taking into consideration the things that she expressed to Teiichi in this episode, her actions seem to always be motivated by a fear of loneliness.

I could be seeing too much in her character, but her constant attempts to frighten, arouse, embarrass, and annoy Teiichi almost seem like a method of compensating for decades of invisibility. At last, she's found someone that can see her and interact with her, and so she's going to elicit as many reactions as she possibly can. Understandably, she fears a return to total invisibility, and she expresses this through clingy jealousy and a constant need for Teiichi's attention. In this episode Yuuko also seems to express a fear of
regaining her memories regarding her death
, presumably because this is the reason that her soul is in a state of unrest and her current situation is preferable to moving on. I can only wait and see whether or not this is correct.

I should also note that I found that this episode had the best ratio yet of good to bad SHAFT Junior League shots. I liked all of the following:

However, the final image is unfortunately marred by Dusk Maiden's cheap and ugly use of flat layers for their sky shots, which in this scene resulted in a two-dimensional moon hovering parallel to the surface of the pool. Eeeugh, just look at that reflection. I hope that they fix this for the BDs, because the coloration in this (and other) scenes of the sky are really beautiful otherwise.

Whenever I watch these monthly sakuga videos I am always reminded of how much anime I don't watch. I mean, I haven't seen the majority of shows in this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&NR=1&v=CJvh0hKCE3E
Symphogear/Strike Witches/Evangelion/Galaga
cant be killed with conventional weapons!
apart from machine guns

Yeah, I am not quite sure why they keep saying that Secrets/G-monsters can't be killed by conventional weapons when all the mechs (IFO's) all appear to have convential machine guns and missiles.
Infinite Ryvius should count as a space school setting, kinda

If you gather enough teenagers in one place does it become a school setting? Truly question for the ages.

The passage of time in this show confuses me. Surely a planet-sized mobilisation of resources would be longer than the mere twenty-four hours depicted here? Never mind that convincing a whole planet to follow on your plan to delude the enemy without it somehow getting leaked to them is a big assumption to make.

Also: it seems like the purpose of every lady in this show is to have their husbands/baby daddies die in war.

Seeing Evangelion grouped with those shows just makes me sad.

Interestingly enough (or not, because anime is generally a very meta-textual medium), Euereka AO makes an Evangelion reference this week. I mean, besides the ones that it's already made:

Okay, so maybe I've seen Evangelion too many times.

The Alliance are always scrapping for a war, I can only assume they'd made the preparations beforehand!

.

Im equally confused by the time setting
We have flying cars and futuristic cityscapes
but still restricted to simple machine gun weapons?

Rail guns and Lasers are being tested in reality, which would surely be effective in the okinawans fight against the reapers!

Well, yes, if you're a 13-episode or less show you're most likely going to air at late night; I've seen very, very few daytime shows that go below ~26 episodes. And indeed, the greatest number of shows air at late night, or "otaku o'clock". On the other hand, even though there are comparatively few daytime shows that start airing each season, the amount of anime airing at any given time is more balanced thanks to the long-running stuff. A quick count shows that at present 27 shows air between 11 PM and 3 AM, while 35 shows air between 6 AM and 10:30 PM.

Which is really weird... am I just imagining it, but didn't E7 have beam based weapons somewhere?
