I think you guys might be looking too much into the first scene in Hyouka.

Not really. Most of the sequences in the show are packed with meaning, unlike certain other shows that I don't care too mention.

You can do this for most well-made TV shows or movies and to a far, far greater extent than we've done so in this thread.

But its more fun to look for it in shows like AKB0048!

Darker Than Black S2 1what

Sorry for the picspam and lack of text. I'll try to keep the rest of my impressions a lot more condensed. It's just...good gravy. I can tell this is going to be a hell of a ride.

You totally missed the BONES trademark looking-through a camera shot. Outrageous.

Excellent. It's good to see that Yuasa lives, in some form at least.

Abusive blu-ray ghost moe?

Amazing. Simply amazing. This show never gets old. Which is to say that it does get old, sometimes, but there's enough variety to keep me coming back.

You all like KEY Anime and consider Ano Hana shit. Consider HotD ''fun'' show and dismiss shows like Baka no Test. I shall be not be linked with you lot again.

NEVER!
You can like Key and Ano Hana and still think both of them are shit. Also, not all of us like Key nor do we all like Ano Hana. What is this tomfoolery

Seeing some people here post in other threads is so odd at times. It's like what? You people actually leave the cave? I thought that if you posted here you were stuck here forever.
Whoa, slow down Plato.

Zoku Natsume Yuujinchou 6

I'm starting to wonder if we will ever get a character
that can see the youkai without anything special just like Natsume. The closest one is Natori but as I recall he needs the glasses to see them. Drawing circles still makes you fully see them unlike poor Kaname, but the ability has a massive flaw

This episode's youkai is a total dick.
Asshole made poor Taki miserable cause she can't say anyone's name.

I'm a little sad that no one turns Battleship Girl, Arpeggio of Blue Steel or Sailor Fuku to Juusensha into animes.
But Mädels und Panzers is an important step after Strike Wiches and Upotte!!.

Don't think Mizushima is anyone to get excited over (although mild interest is just fine I suppose), and it's some kind of moe tank-girl show . . . gross.

Mizushima seems to be one of the most versatile directors in the industry. That also means a lot of his stuff would probably be hit or miss considering the wide array of genres he covers.

With everyone wanting everything on Blu-ray, are there any anime titles that should not be purchased on Blu-ray? I noticed that some titles, like Chobits, are apparently better on DVD than Blu-ray.

I may be in the minority, but if I know the Blu-ray of any title is an upscale I will simply purchase the DVD instead of the Blu-ray. Unless FUNi-style combo-packs will become a future norm.

What are everyone's thoughts on Blu-ray versus DVD when it comes to purchasing anime?

Theoretically, all SD mastered shows should look better on Blu-ray by virtue of not having crappy DVD compression. Unfortunately there are a lot of crummy upscales out there.

HD Mastered show - BD
SD Mastered show with a good upscale and DTS HD MA or Dolby THD - BD
SD Mastered show with bad upscale but respectable DVD encode - DVD
Anything else - Pass.

There are several exceptions, such as Big Windup, but most of what Mizushima directs ends up being comedic, even when it's not trying to be (Blood-C).

Zoku Natsume Yuujinchou 7

Seeing Natsume in the room
calling out to Madara and not seeing him was depressing. Loved the way they showed it.

I think this was the first story to last 2 episodes in the series so far unless I'm forgetting one from the first season. Wouldn't mind seeing more of them if they remain the same quality.
