You should really just be given automatic full member status for the amazing act of getting a full member banned while you're still a junior. You deserve that much.
Toradora, though it becomes a bit melodramatic near the end, and there's no action. Still one of the best romantic comedies. Inu x Boku SS and maybe Familiar of Zero as well. And I kid you not, Highschool DxD is pretty good. Tons of fanservice and a protagonist who wants a harem, but it goes a somewhat unusual route, has good action and the protagonist is actually quite likeable.
I'd also kinda recommend Seto no Hanayome, but that's more comedy and action and less romance. It's absolutely amazing though.

This material is being handled fairly well and I can't really fault the direction but I don't really feel the same emotional connection to the story that I did with the original series.
Is this simply because the original series was fresher? Was it because the original series had the kind of pacing that allowed you to build up a solid connection to the charters or is it all nostalgia that I have for a show that I watched when I was much younger? It's hard to say without revisiting the original material.
