I don't think you, even with your shounen blinders, would claim that Kumagawa is the best character in all of Japanese manga.

But the thing is... he is.

From what I'm gathering in these responses, this show causes people to lose their ability to construct sentences?

I tried my best, but to be honest the signs were there Samurai Girls Time Battle Paradox should have been taken as a sign of things to come.

Now people are dissecting and hating on Maken-Ki? What did anime ever do to you? Strangled your dog? Friendzoned you? Married your little sister? Gave you swimming lessons? Gave you standards?

Then I do have to hate it for the writing. It's just so fucking derivative. I remember when GAINAX was cool. When they did (relatively) original stuff.

Please, it pains me even thinking about it. Heartbreak indeed.

Again I think your imagining a Gainax that never existed. Or at least taking it out on Medaka Box for something that has been happening for well over a decade.

welcome back pdot!

Agreed although I'll defend Kore wa Zombie in that if it didn't forefully inject drama into the show midway, it'd be a decent zombie comedy.

Too many comedies are ruined by the need to tie up the plot using excessive drama at the tail end of the show. Kannagi is another victim...
yeah, i actually enjoyed it up until the forced drama. :(
fuckin floating whales!

fuckin floating whales!

At least episode 11 made up for it
with ninja maids serenading flying whales to death on violins while the villain turns into a penguin.

NOOOOOoooooooooooo!

I just realised my one true ahoge, Naru Narusegawa from Love Hina, actually has two ahoge, which is apparently hair antennae, according to TVTropes.

My life is ruined, my heart is broken. Is life even worth living for anymore?

Yes, have you seen Nyaruko's ahoge? It will heal your broken heart!

Hmm, that is one impressive ahoge.

Flash anime? eww. I guess I'll watch the XEBEC one whenever it airs for my new one true ahoge. still... ;_;

No, the one this season IS the XEBEC one. That's why I'm so excited about it, the PV for it is great as well!

I'm not so sure on that, really.
I prefer Zenigata solo too; he's expressed many times in the series that he is the only one who can capture Lupin and that he doesn't need help. He's assigned help in one of the Red Jacket episodes and he throws a tantrum about it. With that said, I'm not totally against the idea. If anyone, I'd prefer his sidekick to be Melon Cop, especially since this is a prequel series.

With that said, I think
Oscar
may well be a very interesting character! I don't know if you're aware... but there is a character of that same name in the Red Jacket series.
It's a male character whom Lupin seems to fall for, leading him to question his sexuality. This soon changes though, as Oscar is eventually revealed to be a woman in disguise! I wonder if that character and this new Oscar are related?
I prefer it that way with a little nuance too; Zenigata without a sidekick is cool, but along the ICPO squad of subordinates that many times accompany him I find it better. The creators don't delve on this characters that are presented to us as no more than faceless secondaries, however the way they fight for Zenigata and practically see him as a paternal figure, and the unity they show in the good or bad moments but always committed to their mission of justice is pretty sweet. On Lupin the Third: Castle of Cagliostro they are practically like a family, I find that a nice touch.

For this argument, I think it is time to retaliate with things like He Is My Master! You can see Shōji Saeki's expertise on that.

Will you be on team Sankarea, or will you be on team Tasogare?
