This is definitely cute. No other way around it.
A cute anime and I like it. It doesn't do anything amazing, but it looks nice, I like the antics of the characters, I actually got their names halfway into the episode so they at least stand out to me in their one character note ways, and the romance here is actually pretty nice. No need for working out feelings or anything like that, it's there and that's about it.

ARE YOU READY, MOTHERFUCKERS?! In 24 hours, Fate/Zero S2 will resume streaming on Nicovideo. The gods of Aniplex smiles upon us. Today in Japan they screened the first two episodes of S2 (ep14 and ep15) at a special event, and the impressions are overwhelmingly positive. The quality of the animation and the direction in the major battle that picks off where the cliffhanger of last season left off is said to be visually amazing and on par with high production theatrical anime.

MY PANTS ARE OFF! I'M READY!!!!!!!!!

Where can I find this image not compressed to hell by imgur?! Please help me!

The Light of El Cantare
If SHAFT = DEEN and DEEN > GAINAX, it follows that SHAFT > GAINAX. Truly, a season of firsts and shocking reversals.

Sankarea 1

Hmmm, seems like the tone is much darker than the manga. Even during comedic portions, the rather sterile and dreary atmosphere remains. Furuya's cat expressions are less frequent and he seems to be more "serious business". Even though the dialogue is mostly word for word, it gives off a completely different feel. Just compare this:

Quite the difference, right? Not really sure which one I like better to be honest.

I think it being less over the top and attempting a more poignant approach may be detrimental in the long run considering some later events, but I am interested in how this plays out and will watch it to the end regardless.

Is the OP by the same girl who did the Hanasaku Iroha OPs? Because it just has the right amount of cute mixed with ear-grating vocals for me to begrudgingly hate it.

I'm down for some zombie moé. It's a shame that Deen's revival has to be accompanied by something that will undoubtedly devolve into harem hijinx. At least the first episode had a certain mystique.

I wish I could say something good about it but even the sequences were the same old trite we've seen plenty of times before. I don't think any OP so far has actually wowed me this season (the Lupin one doesn't count).

Anime has betrayed me so many times before I can't help but be a cynic.

Kids on the Slope should be good.

Not even Lupin? You're a hard one to please.

Edit: No fair stealth editing!

Anyway, I personally feel this has been a pretty good season for OPs. Lupin, Space Bros, Saint Seiya Omega, Zetman, and Sankarea (in that order) are all above average and quite enjoyable.

This episode was all sorts of SHAFT.

This show has a weird atmosphere, and I'm not entirely sure if the whole package works for me yet. Gonna have to give this a few more episodes for them to actually get things going.

The dude's hair is incredibly distracting.

Okay, it's not anyone's imagination. The director of Sankarea

has also worked on storyboarding and directing for:

He's really a SHAFT man! Or so claims ANN. Which could mean nothing.[/QUOTE]

Well that explains things then!

I quite liked this arc when I read it, and still enjoy it now which probably puts it up there with Thriller Bark as an arc I'm one of the few fans of. The scene where Sabo didn't know what Ramen was is pretty funny considering his voice actor.

There's something catchy about the OP used, I don't think I bothered to skip it at all during the arc (I'm skipping it now though). Which meant I noticed dumb shit like the fact Ussop is the only one whose flashback in the OP isn't just of his original "joining arc".

Fate/Zero 01-05

I wanted to drop it again when the circling in the first episode began but I stayed strong and got rewarded.
The fight choreography's are hit and miss but mostly nice to watch.
I still wonder about the heavy exposition though. The motives of the masters seem pretty unimportant when the viewer's emotions are invested into the servants.

Like Rider.
He is total bro-tier.

Guess I will marathon it and then have one more show to watch during spring with Fate/Zero 2.

Took me a bit too long to get around to this one!

So, blah blah blah stylish blah blah blah awesome animation etc. etc.

I have one major problem with this show - and it's not even the shadows, which only really irritated me in one scene (when Fujiko's on the "ramparts" of the cult headquarters).

I just... don't like Lupin. This may seem like a ridiculous thing to say, but for me the Lupin III franchise is a bit like watching a Hanna Barbera cartoon but with more perviness (or in this case nudity). Lupin himself reminds me of characters like Top Cat in their let's-get-away-with-it smugness, and the predictability of the kaitou schtick that means Zenigata's always around feels too familiar for me. I've never even made it all the way through Cagliostro!

The scene with him and Fujiko in the dungeon was like torture for me because what I want their relationship to be is filled with cheeky banter and chemistry, but every time Lupin speaks I want to punch him in the face :(

I'm not sure how I feel about Fujiko herself. Clearly she is vastly capable beyond her sex appeal, but I'm uneasy about what the intent is behind the show being so over-sexualised. The show treads a fine line between Fujiko's nudity being purely for titillation (the seduction of the guard in the prison sequence, for instance, where both her actions and the animation/viewpoint of them seems designed purely to arouse the audience) or being a useful tool in her arsenal (her erotic dancing for the cult leader makes sense in this capacity - she disrobes to disarm him, not to please the viewer).

The artistic side of this show is so glorious that I have no hesitation about watching more, but I think I'd probably prefer a show just about Fujiko rather than her place in the Lupin III franchise.

Did you watch the old man filler? How was it? I skipped it.

What did Toei do better than Kyoani, except in derpiness of faces?

The Toei version is less moe and has a faster-paced plot. The latter point should be expected -- it is 11 episodes shorter, after all -- but I didn't really feel like the additional episodes made the KyoAni version better. They just made it longer. And yeah, KoiAni definitely moeified it quite a bit (I don't just mean the art, I mean the story too.)... I don't know, I like the original style more.

I just read the first chapter of the manga, and it was significantly worse. It's more or less the same plot as the first episode, but the presentation, direction, editing, and pacing are hugely improved in the anime. I'm more impressed with the director(and scriptwriter) than I was before.
