The special powers do bother me because it's completely unrealistic.
Kuroko can blend in so well, he's invisible???

sigh, i dunno. Maybe I'm just subconsciously comparing it with Slam Dunk, which was comparatively more realistic.

I'm almost afraid to google that term. Do I want to know what it means? I think I have an inkling but I'm not too sure.

look down. imagine it coated in mercury.

A question, friends:

Which is the best way to tackle the JoJo OVAs, chronologically speaking? I'm sitting on the 93 and 2000.

2000 first, it takes place chronologically prior to the 93 series. Also the 2000 series is not nearly as good as the one from 93 so you'll be getting the worse stuff out of the way first.

One Piece 537

Man the whole Sanji time skip thing might just be the best thing ever for time skips.

Fate/Zero 12

Definitely not an episode I should have watched before bed. I feel pretty bad for Iri and there was lots of talking between Kirei and Archer.
Kirei's got command seals again and Gilgamesh's trying to convince him to steal another Servant? What the hell?!

Is it better or worse than Ano Hana? The people need to know if ghost moe is saved.

Kind of hard to compare since Anohana is supposed to be a somber rekindling relationships story while Tasogare is a ghost romcom.

Haven't watched the episode yet, but the manga is really good, especially the art.

Speaking of One Piece. It does seem Luffy's combat animations have improved a bunch post time skip.

I guess it's due to his fighting style slowly getting more DBZ like (A lot of experience ;P).

I think the fact there's a lot of non-fighting screwing around in the FI arc has something to do with it. More money to save on animation for when battles actually happen.

I'm used to sport anime being unrealistic, dating back to stuff like Kyojin no Hoshi or Attack N.1, so a show that simply has a dude
with low presence
being able to exploit that natural talent/hinderance to such an extent seems pretty normal and believable to me by now.

Yeah I get what you mean, although I've watched/read newer stuff like Eyeshield 21 and Prince of Tennis. It's like I can tolerate most of the stuff in Eyeshield 21 like
running faster or kicking the 60 yard magnum
but I'm not sure why but
blending in to become semi-invisible
in Kuroko no Basketball just breaks my suspension of disbelief. Perhaps because I've actually played basketball competitively for a while changes my perception of the sport and conversely, I have no experience in American football.

Blood-C Ep. 11

Not that it was that hard to call.

You're going to watch the next episode immediately right?

Sankarea 1: I'm repeating everyone else but this is a Deen show? Is this what happens when they have a budget? The backgrounds were nice and colours were vivid. Whoever decided the colour usage deserves some props. The scenes also actually had a good set of pacing. It flowed quite well through each transition. That one cut with the drop of juice was a nice transition into the next scene introducing Chihiro's family. Speaking of which that scene had some good music as did most of the episode although this one I liked a lot more. The sound direction in terms of music and sound effects are pretty effective. The spooky tune during Chihiro's zombie doings and the transition from Rea scream to the scream of the alarm clock are couple other examples. The OP was really nice too. The cuts with Chihiro and Rea after the title where they have coloured outlines and Ranko's tennis bit stood out for me. The subtle squeeze from Rea's dad to her shoulder was effectively creeper status. Very minimal on backgrounds but the character animation looked good. And dare I say I liked the song? The ED sequence was much less busy but still has a nice use of colour.

Comparing it to what I recall of the analogous chapter of the manga, this was quite a bit better! The change in tone really makes for a more enticing opener. The scene where Chihiro and Mero grief for their dead cat had a good solemn feeling to it (the nice background helped a lot). Can't say how the rest of the show will follow however though I'm hoping it remains as good as this opening act.

On Rea's VA, it's okay for me. And so this is the (currently) superior zombie show of the season. How is it that Deen has two zombie shows in this season with this kind of quality disparity.

Tomodachi wa Mahou
Mai Ritoru Poni: Yuujou wa Mahou 6

Not to be a neigh-sayer but I don’t really like this Trixie gal. Like Gilda in the last episode she gets thoroughly owned and doesn’t really learn any lessons or change her way of life at the end of the episode, I guess that’s actually quite realistic.

Enjoyable episode and Twilight truly is the best. So humble and yet so awesome. The most powerful pony in all of Equestria and she never mentions it or brags about it in front of her talentless pony friends.

Mustaches are always awesome. Goatees not so much, but mustaches are always in. Unfortunately for Spike it will not give him the Magic to land a date Rarity, but I do hope “Friendship is Magic” isn’t oh so literal for little ol’ Spike for the entirety of the series.

what the hell convinced Femmeworth to watch Blood C?
Well I mean Femmeworth is a fan of Oreimo and everything but blood C is a pretty different show.

The Light of El Cantare
Fate/Zero 14:

Finally got around to watching this, and SHIT JUST GOT SO INCREDIBLY REAL ON MULTIPLE FRONTS FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

Gilgamesh on a flying throne of infinite swag with Tokiomi groveling at his feet?

Berserker TURNING A FUCKING FIGHTER JET INTO HIS NOBLE PHANTASM AND GOING STRAIGHT FOR GIL'S JUGULAR WITH IT?

Ryuunosuke exposes his identity like a moron and pays the price?

I don't think I breathed or blinked through the whole episode. I really haven't felt this kind of exhilaration watching anime in a long time. F/Z proving again that it's a titan of great action, dialogue, and plot.

Tokiomi's weakness is pretty apparent now. Between being a sniveling bitch in Gilgamesh's presence and Kirei lurking in the shadows during Tokiomi's confrontation with Kariya, it's pretty much a given that he's going to be killed and Gilgamesh will become Kirei's new Servant. Gilgamesh has a level of respect for Kirei that he quite obviously doesn't have for Tokiomi, so I expect them to work frighteningly well as a team. The Servant bodycount has to start going up sooner or later.

I suppose it's also technically possible that Caster could receive a new Master, but if his squid monster dies, he probably dies with it as it's his current and only source of acquiring Mana. With only half of the show left, I'm fine with him exiting at this point even though he's an incredibly fun character. Have we seen Caster's Noble Phantasm or is this it?

This was a pretty decent setup episode for this arc. It'll be interesting to see where this goes if the preview's anything to go by.

This ghost is about 3000000000000000000000000x more awesome than that stupid little white-haired moron from that other shitty show.
0 multiplied by any number's still 0

I wouldn't say Gilgamesh respects Kirei; it's more of a fascination and curiosity. Gilgamesh's too proud to put a mere human at the same level he is. Tokiomi's just a fool with transparent motives as far as Gilgamesh is concerned. Although I do think Kirei and Gilgamesh would work well together.

Caster's Noble Phantasm is his spellbook, which gives him limitless mana reserves and that enables him to use any spells he knows, right?

Tomodachi wa Mahou
Mai Ritoru Poni: Yuujou wa Mahou 7

Fluttershy is quickly tanking on the list of ponies I would like to take for a ride. After this episode it’s now:

Twilight > Rainbow > Applejack > Pinkie Pie > Rarity > Fluttershy

Her cowardly attitude really rubs me the wrong way. Angel is the antithesis to an Angel and she lets him stampede all over her. The entire town is in danger and what she’d do was pretend she was one of those deaf-mutes instead of actually doing something about the problem.

Heck the girls start their own P-Team with a theme that is more Dirty Harry than A-Team to boot and even then she’s still a coward. Credit Twilight though, being the cunning and mastermind genius she is, she knows that she has to coerce Fluttershy into riding it out as she’s instrumental to the operation and it turns out she was right. Of course one does not simply walk into Mordor the lonely mountain. Fluttershy being as terrible as she is nearly gets the entire gang killed and herself killed on more than one occasion.

I think the episode says a lot when every single pony has to be shoehorned into the Flutteryshy centric episode just to make it work. The last episode didn’t have Fluttershy or Pinkie Pie and yet this one has the entire gang rag tag along simply because Fluttershy is incapable of carrying the episode by herself.

I do appreciate what all the ponies have going for them right now. Rainbow Dash is the epitome of COOL, Pinkie Pie is a bouncing off the walls giddy manic, Twilight has that composed, reserved vibe to her, while Rarity and Applejack have the dueling uptown girl / country gal elements. Fluttershy is just a shy coward who only has mere moments of being well normal. That’s not really all that interesting.

I support this pairing. It's certainly better than that horrific Twilight x Trixie that Hitokage just mentioned :(

You haven't seen Fluttershy's true power yet. Trust me on this. Or anyone who's seen it.

I don't think that Gilgamesh respects Kirei in the sense that he sees him as an equal, but Kirei is the only person that can spar intellectually with Gilgamesh and still hold his own relatively well. Because of that, Gilgamesh can't treat Kirei like a puppet as he does Tokiomi--Kirei understands Gilgamesh's intentions even when they're masked by ulterior motives and isn't going to grovel because he has no particular desire for the Grail in the first place. This forces a certain level of honesty and cooperation from Gilgamesh, though not to the point that Gilgamesh would hesitate to betray Kirei if he ultimately somehow becomes a barrier to Gil's ambitions.

You're also right about Caster's Noble Phantasm. It was probably only mentioned once, but I'm still surprised that I forgot.

I don't think Caster ever uses any "spells," the book summons the smaller demons or turns him into that giant Cthulhu.

I really like Fate/Zero's attention to detail. While not everything is 100% accurate all the time, enough attention to paid to making something look convincing such that a casual bit of research will show that the designers didn't just pull shit out of their ass without proper reference.

Case in point:

ACQPp.jpg

As a side note, while I enjoy the attention to detail, I also enjoy the photography in this scene. Most anime would just depict regular shot, but here they pull the focus very clearly to let the audience see precisely what he's doing with that very complicated bank of controls - it's only way we'd have any idea what the hell we was doing.
