Yeah, that's from the movie.

Is it possible to watch and enjoy the movie prior to watching the show?
Or should I at least watch some episodes of the show to get me started?
I do plan on finishing the entire thing, but I'd really like to watch the movie first.

The arc the movie is based on is pretty early not that early in the series, but the series itself is very episodic in nature. You could probably get away with watching the movie but you might miss some running gags.

Yeah you should be able to. It's a standalone story so the only problem is that you won't know the characters.

I watched the movie after watching the first 10-15 episodes of the new season of Gintama and I was able to get in fine. Even if you don't really know the characters, you soon figure out who the straight man is and so forth.

And, as a self-contained story, it's pretty damn good.

(For reference, the movie is "set" during episodes 56-61 or thereabouts. So a quarter of the way into the "first season").

Just a warning, if that clip is what I think it is, that is only in the movie and not in the TV series proper.

(And of course, it is also the best fight! I liked it so much that I actually broke down the metaphorical meaning of the start of fight scene a hundred or so pages ago. lol)

This must be where firehawk learned to Stop Worrying and Love (awesome) Action sequences.

that's news to me!

Awesome being the key word here. At the very least, the action scenes are actually important to the plot/theme of the particular arc!
Actually you could probably say the same thing about all the action scenes you have skipped...

Eureka 7 AO ep 1
I find it weird that AO and Naru just acted like nothing happend after running away from the scrub and G-monster. Other than that I have no complains,it's definitely have the feel of Eureka Seven.

Yeah, but there was some controversy surrounding the director's dislike of the manga, so there ended up being a minor scuffle which effected things. I'm not sure how the anime turned out in the end, but the consensus seems to be to just read the manga.
Definitely. The first half is... mostly okay, but the second half is when they caught up with the manga and came up with their own story (except for a couple of reveals they ended up spoiling years in advance for the readers! yay!), and the whole thing derailed completely at that point.

If it was Hatsumi writing the anonymous love letters to Hazuki then why didn't she just admit that it was her given Hazuki obviously has feelings for her?????
Maybe I shouldn't try and make sense of this given that I'm sure not even the writers know what the fuck's going on.
No, there is a reason and that reason will be clear by the end.

Really? All I remember from the first episode is having my yuri goggles on max and catchy KOTOKO OP and EDs. I never went back to it though.

Your yuri goggles would have exploded later on. There's a climatic event later on in the series that is awesome for how insane it is.

The only things I really know about Kannazuki no Miko are Re-sublimity and that one memetic piece of promotional art.

Basically, it has lesbians (and mecha, but no-one cares about those) and is very melodramatic about it. The important part is that it has lesbians, and makes a big deal about that; every single piece of promotional art is LOOK AT THE LESBIANS AND THEIR TORTURED LOVE!!!, and this even extends to the OP of the show (which reveals every single plot point of the show with quite spectacular obviousness).

Quite why there's a male "romantic interest" I never really understood.

The main reason for the show's notoriety is an event two-thirds of the way through which, without spoiling anything, is controversial for reasons legal and moral. Because I am a judgemental bastard, I think it reveals rather more about the viewer than it should do depending on your reaction to it.

That is truly the best part of the show and makes it worth sitting through the entire thing though. lol

I was watching a western anime today, Archer-san.

I fucking lost it when Krieger's 2D Waifu appeared.

One of the best gags on the show, created by one of the best characters on the show.

Hix, to be perfectly frank, we didn't want to encourage you.

Simply uttering the name provides him much nourishment and reassurance!

Maybe it's just me due to lack of sleep but I can't seem to click with this show. Could be due to art style or too much color, I'm not sure....need more viewings before I can evaluate it.

So okay, probably no-one cares by now but with the help of some friends a method for grabbing BrightCove protected videos (which mostly seems to be anime trailers) has been found.

Here's the Fate/Zero season 2 trailer: http://www.mirrorcreator.com/files/XAQG7FPQ/fatezeropv03.flv_links

(EDIT: ignore all the ads that say click here to download, the real links are in the table at the bottom)

Anybody got any other trailers of this type they want extracting?

I said that when I first came here.

Now I'm watching 12 current season shows + 2 backlog ones.
Oh I know that feeling.
No need be so fast guys, the shows ain't going to disappear! Well, unless production or licensee companies start tanking or something like that... welp, with this unstable economy you never know when...

This was a great looking, well made episode that I did not enjoy. The characters did nothing but mildly annoy me and the way the main character's social anxiety was portrayed was really heavy handed, and already felt repetitive in just one episode.
The representation of the main character's anxiety is pretty on the nose, but it's well executed -- very expressive and gets the point across in a visually exciting way, and fits in with the context of the show. I think dismissing it because it's heavy handed (it is) is really... missing the point.

It's not like some other show that showcases a character's anxiety through angsty narration and repetitive ominous sounds.
Spot on here, pizzaroll!

As I see it; imagine Yuki suffering those anxiety moments in a more straightforward and dramatic way, without his voice off explaining his feelings, or that drowning images. I think that this could break the continous happy feeling the series gives.

However, presented like this is more inmersive and helps to show better the way he leaves that desperation experimenting the joy of fishing for the first time, and as I said previously his problems seem more "inoffensive" (more wacky) as well. It also makes for sudden and intelligent change of cuts to make the scenes more dynamic when it happens (Yuki saying goodbye to his previous classmates, for example).

I have the general idea that visualizing it on this simple manner makes you more familiar and comprehensive with his situation.

I don't see what you mean.
the budget saving measures (the lack of a background for example) employed in this show are so amazing it makes the repeated animation in utena or some of the shit they pulled in eva look like child's play. it's the ultimate "DEEN" show

Sankarea ep 2
2 episodes and I'm still thinking whether is this a DEEN anime. And the tone and atmosphere is totally different from the manga. Dat Wanko.
