I feel better now. This is such a fun show to just unwind with.

I only watched three episodes of Dennou Coil and it was boring.

I'm sorry to inform you that you have no heart.

According to the Nikkei Marketing Journal, the rating of Mobile Suit Gundam AGE has been hovering around the 2% level. Although the main target of the TV series is preteen boys, the rating among the kids sometimes goes down to zero. Bandai has been aware of the unpopularity of Gundam AGE among the kids and they tried to identify the reason by conducting a questionnaire survey. What they found from the survey was the kids today are unfamiliar with wars and space colonies. To draw attentions of those kids, Bandai featured scenes at school in Asem's Arc, but their attempt failed to obtain the expected result.

There's a solution to that.

Wait a second... I just realized... people have custom titles on gaf o_O.

Which mods must i fellate for this?

Also playing a lot of Tales of Graces recently... why do all tales games have pretty shitty anime sequences with god awful CG? I heard vesperia's is ok, but still awful cg (need an 360!)

For a show so heavily laden with Yuri themes it can be rather heteronormative when it comes to things like marriage. The ED still blows me away every time it plays.

This is truly one of the scourges of anime.

The manga has been giving a lot of time to the other characters in the material that follows where the show leaves off, its quite good really.
nakama
when are you coming to ManGAF?
If that's the case then I'll definitely check it out.

Next on my list is Lovely Complex, which I'll start watching Sat morning.

Good good. You'll be assimilated watching good anime.

Clearly because Duckroll and Hito secretly agree that forced aspect ratio 16:9 isn't so stupid as the naysayers would have you believe.
Or maybe they just haven't thought of a em-brassing enough tag for you.

[Gintama 214]

A great arc with a great ending. These short-arcs are so efficient, it's impressive how much they can do in five episodes.

Unlike nearly every other arc in Gintama the protagonists, antagonists and supporting players were all characters from the show, including people from minor episodes It wasn't just fanservice either - it tied into the story. This made made the action far weightier than normal, because we weren't just dealing with characters created solely for this arc, for the most part at least.

I assume these two are going to go out and form a 80's hair club preservation society -

I...don't know. 2007 was the best year in anime for the last decade, but I don't know if any particular season was as jam packed as this one. Spring 2007 did have:

Darker than Black
Dennou Coil
Gurren Lagann
Oh! Edo-Rocket
Moribito
To Terra
Emma S2
The Skullman

That's a very strong list.

Wasn't Bokurano also supposed to be good? Romeo X Juliet? Ookiku Furikabutte?
Not sure how RXJ turned out but people were pretty hyped about it back then, also Claymore, which turned to crap, but it was still pretty huge.
So comparing the hype and expectation levels between the two seasons, I'd say spring 2007 was a stronger contender.
The only thing this season has going for it that edges out the hype of spring 2007 is a Watanabe anime.

Quality wise, we shall see, but a lot of the shows from spring 2012 will probably turn to crap, so, yeah...

Yeah, but there was some controversy surrounding the director's dislike of the manga, so there ended up being a minor scuffle which effected things. I'm not sure how the anime turned out in the end, but the consensus seems to be to just read the manga.

My only criticism is that the arc wasn't "bigger" in scope. I could almost see why the Shinsengumi wouldn't come to help (even though that makes no sense really), but people like Kyubei, Zura, Tsuki, Sachan, and so forth? It felt really odd that they wouldn't come the one time that Gintoki and company actually needed help.

The Shinsengumi didn't come to help because these were illegal factions and major powers within the district duking it out. If they showed up, it wouldn't be to "help".

Some of the characters could have showed up independent of the actual organization though.

I suppose the pay-off is greater when it's the characters you don't really remember that show up to help though, and the effect is the same. But for an arc about creating S-links with people and maxing them out in order to get better Personas, it's weird that Chie and Yukiko didn't make an appearance.

Oh wait.

I can definitely see where you are coming from, but they only have so many animators! Just wait till the movie version.

The movie version will be 4 hours long and have every single character in Gintama ever show up during that scene. lol

Coming soon (in 2033).

That's what I've heard as well, but then again everyone says "just read the manga" for most manga to anime adaptations, so I don't know who trust.

Two of those four hours will be manly speeches.

And the other two will be Gintoki and Jirochi laughing at each other!

Bokurano is a bit of a special case. Basically, if you want it to be slightly less depressing, watch the anime. If you want to stick with Kitoh's standard brand of sadism, read the manga.

Apparently the changes were lazily handled and I think even created a few plot holes, but I could be wrong on that one. I only watched like 5 episodes of the anime, so I can't really say here.

Ah, there you go!

And you should! I'm sure most people think this is crazy, but I think the Benizakura movie is a great place to start since it gives you a taste of both how it handles serious episodes and comedy in one encapsulated form.

And you know, there's actually a serious reason why there are crossdressers in the universe. Even if the later appearances mostly fall back into the "let's make fun of effeminate men" mode of Japanese comedies.

I clicked on the link and then I clicked on a related video titled "Gintama best fight" just to have a look, saw about 10 seconds of it and now I have to stop watching everything in my backlog and watch Gintama.
Just a warning, if that clip is what I think it is, that is only in the movie and not in the TV series proper.

(And of course, it is also the best fight! I liked it so much that I actually broke down the metaphorical meaning of the start of fight scene a hundred or so pages ago. lol)
