I think this might have worked much better as a feature film signaling the return of Matsumoto. It's a story told many times before, it just was executed very badly in (I guess) an attempt to make it fit the twenty-minute half-cour format.
Space bros ep 3
Why is this show so amazing? Mutta is a great lead character not to mention the side characters are engaging as well. Hopefully the 50 episodes rumor is true. This and Sakamachi no Apollon are on top on my list for spring season of the show or even anime of the year.
It kind of makes me sad that everyone is watching space bros and proclaiming their love for Planetes and NOBODY watched Moonlight Mile That was such a good space show too. It even has the same voice actor as Space Bros for one of the two leads!
I thought Kotomine didn't remove the crest worm in Sakura, since that would essentially kill her. Moreover, does Kotomine even know about crest worms at this point? I think he just heals him, since that's his specialty.
IIRC Kotomine was able to remove all the crestworms except for the one in her heart. IIRC it was so Zouken as a failsafe could transfer himself into her or something along those lines.

Medaka Box ep2
I can see why Nisho switch genre at some point, this is really really boring and Gainax is doing a poor job of it. Hopefully when it reach that point it would be interesting.

Well that went mostly as expected. Unfortunately that also means there wasn't a lot of tension as the outcome was never particularly in doubt.
Casterzilla never really succeeded in striking any kind of terror in the audience's heart, because he was so feckless. I mean, he was a damage sponge, but he also didn't do anything. That makes for a boring enemy.
The scenes with
Tokiomi, Kariya, and Kotomine
were vastly more interesting, but they only took up like two minutes of the episode.
I also feel extremely justified in my prior opinion
that the Archer/Berserker dogfight was pointless, after the LOL way in which Berserker exploded Archer's flying throne thing in this episode.
Fuuuuuuck yes. It doesn't make up for the rest of this being a heap of shit though.
Man, my experience with this show is so harrowing. S1 was like having a good friend, someone I could trust in that's doing pretty well for himself. I lose contact for a few years and here I am and he's now S2. Everything's just like I remembered upon renewing contact but the more I observe him, the more I realize something is off. Something's amiss but I can't quite figure out what. Around, say, episode 12 or 13, I'm driving to work and I see S2 at the overpass with a cardboard sign that says, "Will Gundam for Food" and things start becoming clear. I've been misled, I can't trust this person, and something has gone horribly wrong with S2's existence. He's not doing well anymore and lying to me saying he is yet I can't break off contact because of a sense of obligation despite what common sense is shrieking at me. So I see S2 for what it is now, a terrible pile of shit that lures you in with its empty promises. I expect watching the movie to be akin to picking up the paper sometime and seeing its obituary but there won't be sadness, merely relief that both I and it will no longer have to suffer under some common false pretense.
You know the writers are doing a damn fine job when they have the main character actually say out loud that maybe he's finally started learning his lessons after one little training arc
(which he failed)
and numerous examples to the contrary in the past that would suggest otherwise. I also found it hilarious how quickly most of the cast came to accept Raion-O's
failure and apparent demise
without giving it a second thought. The one character who didn't felt more like a pity vote than anything else.
And not only has the writing been consistently subpar for a while, everything from the art to animation to direction felt really mediocre for what this particular episode is supposed to represent. It's supposed to be this strong character growth episode where we see how far Raion-O has come and how Taigura finally learns to accept his
inadequacy as a leader
but nothing has any real gravitas to it and all proceedings end up feeling flat and by the numbers. I get the feeling the status quo probably isn't even gonna change going forward anyway.
Chitara
semi-NTR'ing (lol)
Raion-O outta nowhere remains the highlight of this show.
I actually found that very interesting, because it's consistent with the small amount of characterization Berserker has had so far.
Both ep5 and ep14-15 seem to indicate that Berserker only attacks Archer because he is ordered by Kariya to do so. As such, he isn't extremely active or motivated in the attack, but rather he just "plays" with Archer in a back and forth way. On the other hand, somehow, once Berserker takes notice of Saber on his own initiative, he turns VERY aggressive and dangerous, and seems much more interested in using the most out of his abilities. There's definitely a connection there. His attack on Archer in ep15 was simply because he was sick of playing with him and wanted him out of the way for good so he could go after Saber exclusively.
I see a lot of purpose in how it plays out personally.
This is the kind of show that I imagine will help me live through those sleepless nights in my mid-life crisis when all I have is an ever-growing financial debt and a morbidly obese dog for a partner.
are they honestly using a different part from the the same song for the "new" op? fucking hell this is lazy and derivative as shit. i hope they don't stick with this for the yorknew arc.

The one thing nobody has mentioned about Interstellar Bros is that the love interest is rather attractive for someone who seems to be about Mutta's age (I hope). Usually women become ugly hags at the mid-twenties range in animu, Tsuritama's grandma notwithstanding.

I really enjoy the scenes though. It's refreshing eye candy. I don't think having an extended action sequence like that adds a lot to the story in particular, but given the general spectacle of the ep14-15 arc, it's meant to be a large scale visual fest. It definitely added to that.
No, that never happens. What actually happens is that said characters bemoan their singleness and undesirability, despite being just as hawaii as all other anime characters. Usually the only way to tell them apart from younger characters is their clothing and hair.

Wait a second, there a some important situations where this isn't true. If you're an Aunt (Denpa), Grandma (Tsuritama) or Military Commander (Evangelion, Gundam 00).
