Sword Art Online 2

Cool OP. Not sure if I'll add it to my music library yet.

I like Asuna already, and that battle was intense, especially for a first boss fight. Although... why didn't Kirito just admit the boss was upgraded from the beta test period? There was absolutely no reason not to. Oh well. Also: "Beater". Pfffft.

The OP is one of the best parts of the show.

Sword Art Online 15, Rest of the Episode Insanity

HA HA HAHA

YOU HAVE GOT TO BE SHITTING ME.

WHY. WHY?!?!? Can anyone, ANYONE explain why this show needed the following, in order fucking stupid: A BROTHER SISTER ROMANCE. FUCK YOU, UNLESS THIS IS AN ANCIENT MYTH, I AIN'T SWINGING THIS SHIT. WHY IN THE FUCK. I MEAN THE "OH WE'RE COUSINS THAT MAKES IT OKAY!!" FUUUUUUUUCK YOU. FUCK YOUR FAMILY. DON'T FUCK YOUR NOT BROTHER. FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCK.

WHY WHY WHY.

Next up on the list: WHY IN THE FUCK DOES ASUNA SUDDENLY GET RELEGATED TO THE ROLE OF DAMSEL IN DISTRESS? Goddamn, its like sudden character assassination. It isn't that I can't do the damsel in distress thing, I'm fine with it, I am, but really? It's like stuffing Samus in a dress at the top of the tower and making goddamn Starfy rescue her.

Now, I liked seeing Kirito powerless before the injustice of the real world, that was fine, but at the cost of murdering the one good character in his relationship? Fuck that. WHERE IS KLEIN?

WHY A TIME SKIP. FUCK YOU. FUCK TIME SKIPS. FUCK. TIME SKIPS. THEY'RE BAD. STOP.

WHY DID YOU HAVBE A FUCKING VILLAIN WHO HAD LITERALLY NO FUCKING PLAN AT ALL. EVEN AT ITS MOST RANDOM FINAL BOSSES, FINAL FANTASY NEVER STOOPED SO FUCKING LOW. FUCK. HOW CAN I TAKE CREDIBLE A VILLAIN WITH NO MOTIVE AT ALL? IT ISN'T EVEN IN THE NAME OF EVIL OR "BECAUSE HE'S AN EVIL ABOMINATION" HE'S JUST A GUY DOING SHIT. FUCK THIS.

What happened to this show?

Just drop it here. Stop doing this to yourself. Code Geass was one thing but I don't think you can survive the rest of this.

It's going to take a megaton of an anime that's been positively received here for him to recover at this point.

So, I hope no one minds, but I dub that particular style of post writing/episode impressions :corvo.

Hahaha, I think that's fair enough.

Corvo's impressions with random "HAAAAAAAAAA OOOOOOOH WHAAAAAAAAT" everywhere already got old tbh

Hey, okay, most of the time sometimes I exaggerate, but finding out SAO SPOILERS
Heathcliff was the bad guy
actually did elicit a HAAAA OOOOH WHAAAAAAT from me.

Actually these last like, three episodes of SAO have just been a carnival of stupid that's left me flabbergasted.

But I have to find out why it's the worst thing since child porn. So far it's just a dumb anime that I would have loved to fucking pieces at age 14. Beater and all.

Sword Art Online 4

So this looks like the first episode not exclusively focused on Kirito. Instead, we get a girl named Silicia. Which reminds me... where is Asuna?

So Silicia has something that works like a familiar? That healing ability looks like it might be a low level spell that's good for beginners (like Repth in .hack) but is almost useless to higher level player with more HP.

… And it summarily dies. Let me guess: based on the title of the episode and the fact she's now without a method to heal her, Kirito's going to be the knight in shining armor.

SHOCKING.

“You're a beast tamer?” Um... didn't the show explicitly state that there were no classes in SAO? At least that's what was said back in episode 2.

Huh, so you can revive monsters (as long as you have their heart item) and are in a specific place. Nice to know.

Kirito's being awfully generous here... ah. Because she reminds him of his little sister. Well that's a cute reason I suppose.

Oh hey! It's those 2 guys from episode 1. Kind of happy they're still around, even if they play no role whatsoever (that I know of).

PKs exist in SAO... why am I not surprised? Of course, that carries some horrific implications. I wonder if we'll meet on this ep, since they were brought up.

Klein, Sachi, Silicia (probably Asuna soon)... Kirito has had a shippable love interest for every episode so far.

So Floor 47 is the Cure Rose Garden? And it's for couples too!

My god, the fanservice. WHY?

After the past 3 episodes, I do enjoy a little light-heartedness, but I'd rather it not be as lewd. I'm okay with shows that feature fanservice (especially if it's part of the actual premise), but when it's like this, it's kind of jarring.

“I call her my little sister, but she's actually my cousin.” … Why am I feeling dread? Because with the way this is turning out, and her prowess with the sword, I'm SURE Asuna is this cousin. Please tell me I'm wrong, because if not...

Pffft. Kirito is already Level 78. The timeskips in this series are amazing. Huh. He jailed them. At least it's better than being a PKK at least.

All in all, a sweet episode. Where's my critical stupid? :/

So I know this is going to go down poorly, but I finally realized why a part of me is actually sort of enjoying SAO: It reminds me of Digimon. Like, its a similar set up of a kid getting stuck in a digital fantasy land and having to go there and solve problems. This is how I was able to accurately predict that
Kirito will have to go back to the digital world
, too.

Disclaimer: I stopped watching Digimon sometime around the movie. But WarGreymon and MetalGarurumon are still the bossest Digimans.

Man, you are a monster. I thought I was going to get away with the $55 tier but then I read what was in the additional fan book for the $80 tier.

At least there's no additional shipping
.

Speak for yourself, it's like $5 more for non-US residents.

I really want the fan book though. Oh well.

She's not. Thank goodness.

I don't know that I've ever heard of that.

Same author as Sword Art Online (and actually takes place like 30 years after) and apparently is supposed to be better than SAO because it was written a little more recently when the author wasn't like 18

I've seen the first two episodes or so. It was alright.

Sure at the base core, that's the same. But execution and themes are completely different.

Oh. The author was 18 when he wrote SAO? No wonder its the way it is. Man, the shit I wrote at age 18 wasn't any better. Now I just need to hear that the guy who wrote Gundam AGE was like, 10 and also a member of the Hitler Youth to explain that one away.

Sure at the base core, that's the same. But execution and themes are completely different.

Well yeah, I only meant that its premise reminded me of Digimon.

That happens in every "person gets sucked into another world" stories (which are a pretty huge genre) because the creators want to release sequels to they can make more money.

And it sorta makes sense in SAO, I mean it's not like there wouldn't be more MMOs afterwards, it's just too cool an idea.

I thought you were UK based? It mentions down the bottom they're shipping internationally from the UK so Uk residents also get free shipping. Unfortunately since it's a US based site, you have to select US shipping for it to register.

I think I'm just going to drop everything that isn't a currently airing show. I don't even know why I pick things up anymore. I always have trouble motivating myself to watch anything. I've stopped watching Kamen Rider Agito, Akibaranger S2, and Yoshihiko S2, and I really like all of those. I can't motivate myself to watch more Koi Kaze, Oreimo, or DD Hokuto no Ken. And hell, for the past couple months I'm always days late on watching my currently airing shows too.

I dunno...shit sucks right now. =/

I'm more or less in the same boat, though I feel obligated to finish whatever I'm watching right now. I usually end up just rewatching a favorite show of mine, though that gets nothing done so I'll more than likely play a video game for once.

If you like that setup you'd probably enjoy Mondaiji-tachi ga Isekai kara Kuru Sou Desu yo.

You remind me how it was criminally short. I actually loved that set-up, so so much.

On another note: SAO isn't bad yet. Episode 3 was stupidly contrived, sure, but nothing is critical stupid yet. It's actually kind of enjoyable. Granted I'm only 4 episodes in, so that'll probably change soon.

I'm a bit of an outlier, but I actually enjoyed Sword Art Online, even after all the parts everyone screams about and the stupidity of it all. Everyone's entitled to their opinion. So don't let what seems to be the majority opinion of haterade get you down if you find yourself actually liking parts of SAO (;

I also never had that much of a problem with SAO - but then, I also rarely participated in discussions. Sometimes that hate feels more like a social response kind of deal anyway. Going along with the crowd because things have become so polarized. (I may be paraphrasing Yumeka here.)

Yuyushiki 11

What the next episode preview says is true. Older, good memories are the ones that are remembered the longest, and this show is one I'll be remembering. I liked how it began and ended with scenes with Aikawa, and had some masterful translation of puns in between. The curry segment, for one. And the whole thing with the "age" puns. I love a show that's heavy on the wordplay.

Date a Live 09 - 12

Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeessssssssssssss!

I'm glad I stuck it out with this one, despite considering dropping it after the first episode. I knew from the artwork and the OP that Kurumi was gonna be the best girl, and I was not disappointed; her episodes were awesome as fuck. The
imouto
arc was pretty good too...if you're into that kind of thing. Ifrit was pretty badass. The ending was kind of let down, with Origami showing up to worst-girl everything up, and no real resolution but maybe it'll be continued. Someday.

It's so funny how Date A Live ended up being one of the more enjoyable shows of this season.

Accel World is much more fun than SAO.
it also has a couple of goddess tier characters like kuroyukihime and sky raker.

Sadly, it seems like all the shows I initially liked have declined as the season went on (Titan, Gargantia, Maou-sama) but after initially hating Data a Live, it turned out okay. I guess setting the bar low at the beginning has it's advantages.

Dog Days - 7

I honestly do not know what to say to the whole Sink and Millhiore scene so I'll just give it a quick dawww and be done with it.

Oh freaking lol.

There's a sword called the Exmachina? Why don't you just call your armory the plot device storage room while your at it?

Gaul, what happened to your inner Natsu? I can't remember a time when Natsu was calm and awake for more than 5 minutes.

Welp. I'm hoping that we find out what exactly is causing this war soon. Here's to hoping that it will be a plot twist that's shocking to some extent because this episode was slooooooooooooow.

Sword Art Online 5

So Asuna's plan is to lead the boss into town so that it can kill the villagers while they kill it. I like it when someone thinks tactically. Kirito seems against killing NPCs, but... they're NPCs. I love Asuna. So much.

I find Asuna more interesting than Kirito. Can we swap him out and give her the lead role?

Huh. The concept of Sleep-PKs is actually interesting. I wonder if that's a way to cheat the system and remain green.

Oooooooh. The plot thickens. I wonder if there's a way to hack the system. Hacker please?

This is essentially a murder mystery. My favorite kind of plot!

Well... that was an excellent cliffhanger. Wasn't actually expecting this to be a two-parter.

[Aku no Hana] - 11

This episode was another 'come down' episode in the same vein as the eight. It follows the pattern established there as well with one episode being packed with interesting character moments and decisions and the follow up episode being filled with slow, quiet sequences where the characters reflect on what has gone before. As such it was, broadly speaking, a little predictable but the execution was excellent as always.

My main question at this point has to be: how exactly are they going to resolve any of this in the next couple of episodes? I'm interested to see how things will develop from here.

So, why should I pledge for this? Have never seen this so sell me on it!

To quote OG Haly:
Just watched the first two episodes of Eve no Jikan after recently discovering Yoshiura's stuff.

I was blown away. Completely floored by the dialogue and camera work.

HIGHLY recommended for fans of classic sci-fi (Asimov and Phillip K. Dick in particular). Eve no Jikan is everything Chobits could've been if it had good writing.

Haly

One day I realized that sadness is just another word for not enough coffee.
I didn't even remember that post when I described it as "I, Robot meets Chobits".

Your memory is encyclopedic, Jexhius.

If Haly isn't a credible enough source (and I don't know why Haly wouldn't be) then there's plenty of other people who recommend it. Even flawfuls! :
2001 Nights
Royal Space Force: The Wings of Honneamise
Time of Eve

among many others. It's got pretty new universal praise around here.

Huh, Shawn Elliot posted in that thread. Weird.

Also, I'm reminded that, to my shame, I haven't watched FLAG and I have no excuse whatsoever.

Sword Art Online isn't even a troll rec. It's not like it's that terrible. Shit like Date-A-Live, that's terrible.

Not that you'll convince anyone with that horrid second arc. Jesus, even fans of the show don't like that arc or how Sony made it even less enjoyable.

Done for $55! Better not regret it.
Kinda Tempted to go for the $80 or $100 tiers but I'm not feeling the big benefit.
I've implanted my ego on the credits of enough KS projects already.
