I have no idea what Gate is about. Rio Rainbow Gate is about a casino and a girl with magical powers to bring luck to people. Then it turns into a sort of shounen competition battle anime. Its weird. and really colorful.
I think the shit ton of US nationalism in media over the course of my life has meant the little bit from other countries I hardly notice.

Yeah kinda. Gatchaman is pretty much a toku series, pretty influential one too. Think it even influenced Super Sentai.
Crowds is a lot different then the og series though. Granted I never watched the OG series but I know it via osmosis
Gatchaman did play a direct role in inspiring Goranger, the very first Sentai. And an even directer role in inspiring Jetman, which was pretty much Gatchaman but live action.

BDs are gonna print more money for Xebec as usual. The shit in that first episode alone is fantastic, and the BDs wI'll elevate that even more.

Of course, what were you expecting? It breaks a lot of the Super Sentai molds, so enjoy it.
I don't think they would, given they didn't get the director's cut. Not ideal for English speakers but #0 is still free on Japanese Hulu I believe. I'd recommend watching it because the 10 minutes of new content they showed is firstly, great, and pretty straightforward, but also doesn't look like something that would be repeated in the series itself because it's an introduction. I wouldn't mind being proven wrong.
While you wait for S2 volume 1, please enjoy using your imagination to fill in the blanks for the TV airing lol
Hajime is an overpowered shounen protagonist that converts everyone to Hajimeism.

Decided to watch this on a whim after hearing all the positive impressions about it here and its similarities to Gundam Build Fighters.
And holy crap were those people right (well I'm not seeing the GBF comparisons yet though)! Never before have I been on the edge of my seat watching an anime character cook food!
The ecchi stuff was a bit too much though. Hopefully it does get toned down like people say it does, but otherwise yeah! This was entertaining!

When you finish Soma, watch Yakitate! Japan. Its almost the same idea but came many years before.
The only part that bothered me was the tentacles. NOTHING is ever improved by adding tentacles. Fuck that stuff :/

Ok, first of all, who's rec was this one? Second all, what the hell is going on? So far this is eccentric, ecchi, nonsensicle, but fun, lol. It's pretty crazy and interesting so far and we have a childhood friend, a cousin and a familiar as a small harem so far, so this could be fun stuff.

Me! The original LN was written by the same author as Outbreak Company's (he also wrote Chaika the Coffin Princess and Scrapped Princess), but that's only partially why I like it. It's so cartoony and fun.
And contains the only instance of claymation censoring you'll find in anime.
Kill la Kill would certainly have been better as a cooking battle show.

Yup the art has been weird for the past 3 or so episodes. In this one specifically, when they are inside the castle already, depending on the camera angle, you see Arslan's hair tied even though he had untied it earlier. Then the camera angle changes and it is untied again lol. Then there's the faces of the characters that just don't seem consistent and keep changing in minor ways. The story is top notch, but they are slacking on the animation a bit.
Mako's mom could have been the protag.

The problem with the tentacles part in Soma along with the other ecchi scenes isn't just that it's very out of place and doesn't belong in a cooking show, it's also because it makes the show very difficult to recommend to others!
You end up having to stick with the whole "it gets better later" excuse while the person you recommended it to frowns at you with contempt! And for what reason? An over-emphasis on imagery about how much a girl didn't enjoy how something tasted when there are tons of different alternatives that could have been used?

The show is rapidly approaching Dog Days S1 levels of drama malarky which is disappointing as the show is at its best when it's just everyone goofing off. Thank god for Shingancrimsonz saving this ep as they're apt to do. It doesn't bode well for Plasmagica when the supporting cast band is more engaging.

I thought this was a very poignant and reflective end to not only UBW but also Fate/Zero. I feel Ufotable did much better with the original material in terms of direction and so this does give me a smidgen of hope for God Eater.
An actual episode with Dynamite Rin? Holy shit.
The show as a whole was highly uneven on multiple fronts but I feel they did nail most of the high moments. Without being in the production room, I feel like Ufotable was hampered by how stringently they had to follow FSN at times. I guess that's one of those pitfalls that comes with an iconic series.

It's fine when it's a natural fit to the storytelling. Kancolle ran into something similar where everyone's just goofing off for the most part, poi. Except for the girl that's emotionally crippled after her friend was sunk off the coast of W island. lol
