Disney has a pretty huge slate of upcoming films. Not only do they have numerous live-action takes on classic animations such as Cinderella and Jungle Book scheduled for release, they also have numerous Marvel and Star Wars films in the works.

First off, in the Marvel department, there’s Captain America: Civil War, Doctor Strange, Black Panther, Captain Marvel, Thor: Ragnarok, Avengers: Age of Ultron, another Ant-Man and Inhumans. Oh, and three as-yet-untitled projects as well as Spider-Man (with Sony).

Then, on the Star Wars front, there’s Episode VIII, Episode IX, Rogue One and a Han Solo spin-off, along with a possible Boba Fett film.

If that wasn’t enough for you, Disney CEO Bob Iger has some good news for you: "There will be more [Star Wars films] after that,” he told BBC Newsbeat. “I don't know how many, I don't know how often.”

Then, when asked about the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Iger said: "Marvel, you're dealing with thousands and thousands of characters - that will go on forever.”

Isn’t he worried fans are growing bored of seeing superhero films at the cinema? "No, I don't think they're getting weary,” he said.

"But I think we keep raising the bar in terms of telling stories that bring them back, that excites them, that makes it feel new and that is what we do for a living.”

He only said the Marvel Cinematic Universe will go on forever, because of its thousands of characters giving them a bunch of stories. On Star Wars movies, he said, “I don't know how many, I don't know how often.”

What a misleading headline that will make it look like they're just churning out Star Wars movies ad infinitum.

Also, copy+pasting an entire article. "woof" all around.

I don't mind lots of Star Wars, judging by merchandise sales it never has gone away. Unlike most comic books I think Star Wars has always occupied space in the public mind basically since it came out in the 70s. I'm just thankful it's back and I can enjoy some new content.

I wonder where superhero movies would be if spiderman 1 wasnt great. Or batman begins.. Ill throw iron man in too. Since he was not mainstream

Some of the responses here are perplexing. Did anyone honestly think Disney would just stop making Marvel and Star Wars stuff anytime in the foreseeable future?

"Oh no some people are tired of super hero movies, lets close up shop, it was fun while it lasted."

lol

Correction: They will go on until people no longer want to pay to see them. Which, in my opinion, will be somewhere around 2025. This will be followed by 5-8 years of silence, and then a "reboot" of the whole thing again.

They all have Blade to thank.

Eh - not imo. Blade was '98, 4 years prior to spidey and the soon to be explosion.

Much less of a quintessential marvel/dc superhero archetype, which would spur more similar hero films getting signed off on.

In a small example Pretty sure if blade did well i wouldnt approve to make iron man... If batman did well i would approve to make iron man

Meh. I was so sure that Star Wars will be over forever after IX and that we dont get any Marvel Movies after Infinity War.

I think we will see Star Wars Episodes X-XII in the '20s.

I don't like it. I think keeping a franchise at six (good) movies is enough.

Marvel comics had been going on for well over half a century now, it's no surprise the same can be applied to films.

Star Wars, well, that's unfortunate. We'll see how that pans out.

With how big they're going in phase 3, I honestly wonder what the plan is after that.

I can imagine at some point they'll get the F4 rights back, and we'll see stuff like like Galactus, the Skrull invasion, etc. We may see some mantle-passing, some new heroes here or there...

But yeah overall, the Infinity Gauntlet has been a pretty clear endgame for a while now. What's the target after that?

Then we might finally see a Batman Beyond movie!

oh wait...

I mean..

I'm not going to stop going to theaters for Marvel movies, like, ever.

Honestly, if I was a little kid again and I could binge the Marvel Universe in the form of feature length films ... I would be ecstatic.
