Those are the ones I'll probably pick. I'm assuming Diplomacy means changing peoples mind in dialog like persuasion. If it isn't then Underworld Trading sounds fun.

This is exacly why im looking forward to this game. The single player appeal with MMO elements.

I love hearing big MMO fans wanting another standard MMO complain that there is too much dialog and talking and it acts too much like Kotor. It makes me very excited. :)

Keep in mind that you "need" to select the correct Gathering and Mission skills if you don't want to rely on the economy for your crafting mats (and you don't). For example, for Synthweaving you need Archaeology and Diplomacy.

And no, that's not what Diplomacy is. Read the mission skills blurb on the website. =P

Gabe has done some more Q & A today on twitter, with more still to come. The biggest thing he has mentioned so far is the ability to set early flashpoints to level 50 for a more challenging experience in endgame.

Me as well. Honestly, it's the only reason I am buying the game. Looking at it as KOTOR 3: Coop instead of an MMO.

So is it safe to say Old Republic will be released somewhere in October or early November?

They wont start beta weekends in September and close it down and let customers wait a couple of months.

Nothing is safe to say, in my opinion.

Given the history of big budget MMORPGs, it's pretty likely, yes.

I was all aboard the SWToR hype train, but then I see all this new GW2 footage from Gamescon...

I think I may be switching sides, ToRGAF. SWAY ME BACK.

Easy. GW2 isn't even out till next year. So for now, TOR is the way to go. ;)

So, on the page it says you can have three crew skills: any number of them can be Gathering or Mission, but only one can be crafting. Now, will I choose three that apply to the entire crew (making your crafting choice important) or does each crew member get their own three?

I hope you are limited to your entire crew using just one crafting, at least. Make individual crafters more important, like that other game.

You get 3 per player.

i still dont see how people say the quest and story stuff in TOR has been done since EQ. This shit looks and feels and plays completely different.

By "completely different" I'm guessing you mean like every game Bioware has made since 2003?

By "completely different" i mean for MMOs. i wasnt expecting a entirely new way of gaming to be invented just for TOR.

edit: People jumped on me a few pages back for suggesting that TOR was unique for MMOs. People said its been going on since EQ or asked where i have been for the last 10 years LOOOLOLOL!

I know. I was just trying to poke fun at some people's expectations and everyone getting angry about the game essentially refining World of Warcraft like WoW refined Everquest.

With you on this. Absolutely what I'm looking for. I just hope the end-game raids and such are a compelling reason to devote time once my character's story is "done." Really like that separation.

I believe pvp will be a good answer to end game. Operations as an 8 man is also a great incentive along with the gear you can get from the bag loot. So no more "I hope my piece of gear drops" nights.

Yea, because ME doesn't have Bioware Cinematic Dialogue Experience™, right?

I'm pretty sure you suggested that no other MMO had story based quests period. Something like "even without the voiceovers, no MMO...", am I correct?

Is it bad that I kind of like the "I hope my piece of gear drops" nights? It's pretty awesome when it finally drops and you win it.

Is the setup I am leaning toward with my main. Yes I am leaning towards a glow stick user atm.

The page says you can only have one Crafting skill, but no restrictions listed on the Gathering or Mission skills (up to the limit of 3).

I like how your companions do the crafting instead of yourself. Let's you get things done while crafting/missions are happening. Just send some companion you don't like or otherwise aren't currently using to do it!

Every Jedi and their brother are going to take Archaeology + Artifice, just watch.

Game mechanics are far more important than day/night cycles. Those are cool the first time you see them and then utterly pointless for the rest of the game. I for one am happy that they're not wasting their time on that stuff.

I'm pretty sure that you can have good game mechanics while also having a day/night cycle. I don't think that the gameplay staff members are also responsible for the world-building, so it's not really even a matter of them diverting attention from gameplay to work on what amounts to little more than 6 or 7 different ambient lighting conditions.

And couldn't you apply this reasoning to defend any of the game's hot button deficiencies?

"Game mechanics are far more important than homosexual relationships! I for one am happy that they're not wasting their time on that stuff!"

I think it's more of a "HOLY SHIT we need to ship this and it's still in need of work in more important areas." At least in regards to the day/night cycle. Didn't someone from a Lucas division or Lucas himself say that homosexuality doesn't exist in the Star Wars verse? Or something about there not being a name we apply.

So because all bioware games have a dialogue wheel they are all the same? They all have pretty different gameplay.

As someone pointed out before they are actually in by default for Hero-Engine. So that's not very likely.

I was pointing out that the Bioware Cinematic Dialogue Experience™ present in TOR is also present in virtually every other Bioware game.

Please follow the thread of conversation before jumping in.

Or they simply don't want to "turn it on" without being able to refine it to the level of quality they are looking for. I am not going to pretend I understand how time consuming that would be, but I think I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt do to the scale of the project they are working on.
