Yeah true. I still think it is strange they're not testing their euro servers though.

if its the same hardware / software there really shouldn't be a need . The american tests will tell them everything

It's releasing this year without a doubt whether it's ready or not. Other than the glitches which could be fixed post patch, the only thing missing are the Operations.

Operations are going to make or break the game and right now Bioware is seriously lacking in that department.

It's youtube, so watch quick before its pulled.

Wow @ that skybox/horizon. My problem is that everything up close in this video gives the impression that it's a giant lifeless museum exhibit.

There's no way this isn't coming out before Christmas, they can't possibly keep stretching this out any longer than they have.

I think a documentary about the internal struggles this game has faced since inception and the arguments that must have taken place over timing its release would probably be far more fascinating than anything their writers have come up with.

Yeah, they have no real choice at this point other than releasing this year, but I get the feeling they are missing some milestones. No one at Bioware will be seeing their families this year again.

There's very, very little in World of Warcraft that is original to that game. From launch, from updates, from any part of it, patch 4.3's big feature is straight up ripped off from LOTRO.

The implementation and polish is what made it stand out back in the day.

Those kinds of posts remind me of the Halo joke meme, you know, where Halo invented dual wielding and vehicles and and so on and so forth.

Which LOTRO ripped off of EQ2.

LOTRO did not invent the appearance tab. You've got to be kidding me if you think LOTRO brought more to the genre, the game is heavily influenced by WoW itself.

WOW was heavily influenced by the games that came before it .

WOW didn't really invent anything , they just borrowed what worked from other games and hit at a good time in the history of the genre .

I thought it was going to be all integrated(guess that would be the smart way and I overestimated EA again), that's good news for me I'll get it now If I can completely avoid installing Origin.

Thanks for the answers, I'm not following the game.

MMO's even if integrated into stuff like Steam and such don't use it for patches and most of the functionality of the service. They always use their own launcher.

I'm well aware I just find that annoying.

Ohh, you're the crazy youtube guy who whined about WoW inventing flightpaths.

I actually don't like LOTRO, but I do feel it's tweaks and perks in the end are more healthy and respectable than the path WoW took with unsustainable content guzzling. (between which and other things also turned the community into a venomous sack of shit)

That's my main concern with TOR, not having renewable content and social content. Guild Wars 2 is sidestepping nicely it would seem but with TOR no one knows enough about it, which is concerning at this point.

What I really miss on MMOs these days are massive Lineage 2 style sieges. Really liked to gather few guilds up and then going all out on a castle. Wonder if TOR could have some 5guildv5guild goodness with huge zerging at a strategic target.

Well, you have five chances. Different batch each weekend.
Is it seriously going to be a 1 and done deal? That will suck for me as I only have 1 day off on the weekends but its better than nothing.

I've bought two MMO's based on the possibility of the awesomeness of sieges. Warhammer, being as unbalanced as it was for the longest time, it was fairly decent - but the game engine was fairly hideous when 50+ people where in the same area. Enjoy your 15fps.

The second was Aion which turned out to have the worst memory leak in living history, as soon as the program went past 2GB memory (32bit app limit) if it would CTD with the CrySystem.dll error. Which ended up making sieges impossible.

I don't even feel like bothering with the sept beta if it's like that. I probably don't got enough time on weekends, especially if it's one friggin weekend test. Lame sauce

That's...really weird. I don't think that's going to work well for them. Or us. Or anybody.

Yea it's just going to be a massive stress test. Probably won't be very playable at all.

That is such a tease! Bah. 36gb download to play one day :-/. Its disappointing because I wont even get to play with any AC's much at all.

It's probably not only a stress test, probably serve as a way to get a lot of people the client before early release. Of course that's only if they patch it to work as the release client, if the follow Rift's lead the entire client will have to be redownloaded...

They might put it up for download to everyone with an account in the first weekend. Which would mean even though you might not have acess to beta, you would still be able to download the game and at least be ready for the 2nd week if you don't get in on the 1st...

Lag was one issue that they did alleviate, the nail in the coffin for me was opposing factions sitting in different zones staring down a timer waiting for a zone to flip.

Also the PVE was atrocious

I'm regretting buying the dd version now if this is true. I have a 5mbps dsl connection. By the time I get the download my headstart will be over

LOL no I don't think they'll be doing that. If they do, the thing will be datamined to hell and back by sites like MMO Champion.

List of Companions
There are, in fact, a shit-ton of them.

You do know there's an actual ignore function, right?
I was half joking. Your posts are usually inflammatory so you constantly changing your avatar made me always do a double take as to who you are. I loathe ignore features.

Edit:I hope more companions release with time especially more driod/exotic types.

The republic companions look kind of lame... I kind of want the mon calamari, especially if he'll walk around you and just constantly say "It's a trap!". But outside of that, I'm not really interested in any of the generic looking republic companions.

EU invites should be going out in the next couple of days. The thing is, they'll be testing on US servers. So this should be our sign of US invites as well in the next couple of days for the weekend.

Water is not wet!
Wow. i love that concept for one of the Imperial Agent companions...
human/Rakghoul scientist that undergoes transformations between the two
. Sounds great.

Republic Jedi companion is a Sith Lord? What?
Redemption? Also Sith is a species as well as a philosophy so there are a couple different ways that could go.

Empire companion designs seems much much more interesting than Republic companions. I really want to roll a trooper, but goddamn does the trooper companions seems depresingly boring compared to say, imperial agent.
