Help me decide guys. Sith Juggernaut or Jedi Guardian? Or maybe Jedi Guardian that falls to the Dark Side? I definitely want to be tank. I've been tanking in WoW for a while now and I still absolutely love it. Give me a lightsaber and some force powers and I'm in total heaven.

As soon as they do, competitors will look to flank the release with content updates. It has happened with ever major MMO release, so they want to get as close to the date as they can without revealing their hand (and allowing rivals to develop super content patches for release).

For example, they want a lot of WoW/Blizzard fans to sign up. Major counter would be that Blizzard announce Diablo 3 open beta 2 weeks prior to the SWTOR release date.

The guys who are breaking the NDA, I don't think have played much of the game at all. Especially by some of the comments they made. I can't go and pick them apart, as I will end up breaking the NDA. But lets just say they either A) Suck at MMO's and are oblivious, B) didn't get past level 10.

Why not Jedi Shadow or Sith Assassin? They both have defensive/tanking skill trees.

Okay, so after having sunk some serious time into the Warzones I'd like to deliver a report about the PvP that will (hopefully) not break the NDA in ways that will bring the wrath of Bioware upon me.

I'll sum it up like this: I have never had this much fun in WoW Battlegrounds. Why? Mainly I think it's the difference in technology. WoW is working on an old engine that's been patched up over the years and it has always had trouble with three dimensional pathing and such. They've tried to make up for it with vehicle combat and similar gimmicks but what they can do is fundamentally limited.

TOR makes you think and fight in three dimensions. Obi-Wan's legendary "I have the high ground" line from Episode III comes to mind. For example, there's already plenty of footage out there now that shows how the Sith Warrior and Jedi Knight can leap across gaps and up onto elevated ledges in pursuit of their target.

Take a moment and think about the implications that can have in PvP, and the kind of environments that can be designed for PvP.

While Battlegrounds were at best an amusing diversion and at worst a tiresome grind in WoW, the Warzones in TOR could be packaged and sold as its own TF2 style game. I would buy it. The difference between this game and WoW is a generational one. There is no comparison in my mind.

Man, that's an extremely good point on Blizzards side. They have the Diablo 3 open beta to put out to counter TOR. That's crazy to think about. I was thinking this whole time that they'd have something for WoW to counter but...yeah wow. Won't matter to me. I'm there day 0 with TOR.

I don't think anyone is going to get banned. Nobody is really breaking the NDA much. Especially compared to most forums.

Yea, both of those are from Nar Shadaa. I haven't read the dev blog, but they are probably from different places within that city.

no idea. Its a 3rd party focus test and not the main beta so even if rejected you can still get into bioware beta

That's probably a question that only BioWare knows, although I somehow doubt it. As per the Community Manager of TOR, the survey is not main entrance into the game testing program. That means that you still have an equal chance to get in even if you didn't pass the survey specifications.

Ah, but there's never a finished MMO. We'll get our tweaks and enhancements along the ride. The first couple of months I'm sure.

By unfinished, at least in this case, I meant an MMO that has server stability and relatively bug free content. An MMO constantly updates, but a released one is still much better than one that's still a work-in-progress for most of its original content.

Although you are right that the first couple of months could be like a testing period. I believe the only MMO that I have played upon release was City of Heroes. I joined SWG after it had mounts (but quite before NGE) and I am playing WoW off and on. I thought WoW had a pretty stable release but apparently I was wrong. :/

Ah man I know, I wasn't too mad on the idea of an MMO mainly because early showings of this just didn't really appeal. I'm a huge Kotor fan, and I joined the site literally as it went up in October 2008, but I slowly drifted away from it the forums and everything really.

But the more I see of the game, and it's art etc, the more I want to play it lol! Being a huge fan of Star Wars too, I just want something to fill the void that Galaxies left behind.

Just be careful and don't expect this to replicate Galaxies. It's not a game where you live in the world of Star Wars, you are the hero of Star Wars in the Old Republic Era. This will most likely fill the void of a KotOR 3 than Galaxies itself.
