Couple hours into Puzzle Agent, Telltale has done something I never experienced in videogames. I think I've never been so creeped out in between funny moments, ever. Maybe it's cause I'm playing it at night and my headphones are very loud right now, but I was SO freaked out, God :D Don't want to spoil anything, I'm just saying I LOVE when videogames use these devices to scare the shit out of gamers. Well played, really well played Telltale. Would love to see a proper horror game from them, at this point.
So creepy and yet so funny. Puzzles are a bit on the easy side so far but I'm still at the beginning. If you bought it during the sales and never even started it, do it. It's not the kind of game you play hours straight, it's more like crosswords (or Professor Layton, if you played that).

Yep, everything about Puzzle Agent is awesome, except the puzzles.
They should really do something else with that setting/story/style.

If you like Puzzle Agent, it's totally worth checking out Graham Annable's YouTube short films: http://www.youtube.com/grickle Same style and such.

At least check out The Hidden People: http://youtu.be/Tt5lB-RoAi4
We Sing the Forest Electric: http://youtu.be/mkUZFV8g0YE
Principle Skeleton: http://youtu.be/dok0rJSo8ug
and Performance: http://youtu.be/hnvkIQHv0OQ

Please Telltale. Puzzle Agent 3. New town, new mystery, and Principle Skeleton. Please. And make Sheriff Bahg be there for some reason too. I like that guy.

I played it the same way (play all games that way actually, because I hate ambient light and the audio volume must be loud). It had some really, really creepy moments, and I loved it. Great game!

Unfortunately, Puzzle Agent 2 drops the creepiness almost entirely. The puzzles and storyline aren't as good as the first game either. But Puzzle Agent 1 is quite an experience.

Anyone know where I can get Titan Quest for cheap? Around the 5 dollar price it was previously on Steam?

I'm playing vanilla. I'm obsessed. I want Immortal Throne.

Yeah and it looks like to me over the Christmas period the number of users on Steam increased by about 1 million per day during all time period during the day - THAT's massive.

Unfortunately for me, I can't seem to log in to Steam right now and hence I cannot play any of my games... this is really giving me a bad day :/

I wonder how many of those were legit and how many were farming coal?

Woah, thanks a lot, only watched The Hidden People so far, it's great! Watching the others now.

Well now I guess all the talent in scaring people comes from Annable, not really Telltale. The guy has mastered all the horror deviced there are, from sound to still frames, it's incredible the creepiness he achieves with these funny looking characters. A real artist. Damn, I can't even look at that
red gnome
without having shivers through all my body. Also reminds me of David Lynch (Twin Peaks in particular), I had the exact same feeling when Bob was on screen.

And about that creepy moment in Puzzle Agent I was talking about before...
the moment you're trying to fix the flue, then the lights go out and the red gnome appear
, now that's one of my favourite horror gaming device. It's something you can only achieve in videogames, while the gamer is all into resolving a situation and then BAM. Too few games nowadays use it, I guess it's too frightening and developers are afraid it might scare off people who don't like being scared so much... the same reason why so few people here played Amnesia even though they bought it ;)

Can't wait for that update. I already played through VVVVVV twice but I'll happily play it again under the influence for achievements.

If anybody has an amazon promo credit to give, I have a copy of Zombie Atom Smasher or HL2 I'll gift.

Ah, unfortunately I entered the codes trying to see what exactly was eligible for the promo credit and the website ate the codes (stored for future automatic application). I'd like Atom Zombie Smasher though, any way we could work something out where I buy the game you want, you PayPal me how much it is after promo?

Huh, I just realized -- is QUBE the very first UDK game to appear on Steam? There have been similar games before, like inMomentum, but I think it used the official engine.

*edit* In other news, LEGO Harry Potter years 5-7 is now on Steam! Also with -15% release price discount. I'm going to try to stay strong and wait for a package deal on the two though.

According to the UDK Website, Sanctum, the Ball, Dungeon Defenders, and Waves were all UDK games. The Ball was, I think, the earliest of those to hit Steam.

Bah, I stand corrected. I thought that The Ball at least used the professional engine license.

I just bought Q.U.B.E. after playing through the demo. The walls shimmer or flicker a little for me, but otherwise it seems good. :) Maybe that's an AF issue.

So how long do you guys think it will be before Microsoft puts Gears of War up on Steam?

CivCity: Rome
Grand Ages: Rome

(Also Settlers 7)

Which to play?

Since Age of Empires went free to play I'm not entirely sure. I'm sure from their point of view though it would benefit them by selling more copies.

CivCity: Rome! Then let us know whether you liked it.
Grand Ages: Rome is also fun but I don't think it's too much of a traditional city building game and more like almost puzzle-like in how it plays. Wish I tried CivCity Rome though.

I only just discovered that Steam chat has /me functionality.

Mind. Blown.
Too bad my IRC days are long gone :(

re: Puzzle Agent

I just beat it on iPad a couple days ago, and though the puzzles sucked, I loved the story and humor, and especially the creepy atmosphere. Thanks for the video link above.

Any good deals on Risen and/or Two Worlds 2 anywhere that are redeemable on steam?

You're in luck. I have a 66 percent off Two Worlds 2 coupon I won't be using anytime soon. If you want it add me to Steam and I'll send it your way. Heading to bed now PM me your steam info and I'll add you tomorrow.

Is there any sort of fix for the older Oddworld games to run at a higher resolution?

I doubt it, seeing as they are 2D games with a set resolution of the sprites themselves. Stuff like Fallout can fudge higher resolutions by rendering a larger area at a time -- there's more stuff it can draw. Everything's smaller, but it looks sharper and renders a lot more on screen. But with stuff like the first two Oddworld titles, there's a set amount it can render, especially vertically, so it can't really scale in the way some old RPGs can.

I may be wrong, though, so I'd love to see a solution if anyone has one.
