Dark Souls' bonfire system is pretty forgiving. If you really hate the death penalty you could always run to a bonfire and use your souls and you really have nothing to lose afterward.

Whole bunch of games that might not be for everybody today. Poor versions of one of the best PC RPGs and one of the most loved console RPGs, Dark Souls and Papers Please ask for very different sort of engagement from the player, and then Dead Island/Van Helsing which have some decent ideas but are missing a lot to make them clear recommendations.

I'd say if Papers, Please, Don't Starve, or Dark Souls sound interesting to you, get them. If you are on the fence, you really might end up hating them if it is way out of your comfort zone in gaming.

It's okay. Horrible voice acting, throwaway story, somewhat fun gameplay. I'd sorta recommend it if you had a friend to play with or have literally nothign else to play.

I didn't really like the skill system and the difficulty is all over the place.

Yes there is a one-time signup/signin process that allows you to store your save game in the cloud.

Similar comments on the Steam Forums...again. The issue came up the last had the game went on sale excepting DLC. That time, according to the Devs it was because they were "too busy" with the Complete Edition to be discounting the DLC.
