So, odds are that if A.R.E.S. was going to be a daily it would have been today since it's a ticket game, no?

Should I still wait it out? IS IT SAFE?!

It isn't that good. It isn't bad either, but there are far better games to spend your time with if you aren't:

1) A big Transformers cartoon fan

or

2) Have friends to play it co-op

Don't even consider it otherwise. Save your money. Me and two friends played through about 2/3rds of it last summer and we just never got around to finishing it.

Here is what the entire game boils down to:

1) Strafe back and forth and shoot guys while Star Scream and Megatron argue.

2) Flip to car mode and drive to new area where you strafe back and forth to shoot things.

There is almost no variety in the enemies or level design. It is all about hearing the cartoon like voices and playing co-op. As an action game it is fairly mediocre. Competent, but mediocre. There is nothing at all surprising or original in it. It is a standard 3rd person shooter with Transformers laid over the top of it.

People just like it because it is a Transformers game that isn't totally shitty and you can play it co-op. Those are its only real virtues.
Seconding this. It's by no means a bad game, but the shooting gets repetitive and the level design is kinda dull. You'll definitely enjoy it more if you're a Transformers fan. Otherwise it's certainly not terrible but there plenty of better third person shooters out there.

Gifted Torchlight, bought a Greed Corp 4 pack and Defence Grid over the 100$ mark and only 4 days innnnnnnnnnnnnnn.

Is there a list of all the 4-packs on sale somewhere?

I wouldn't mind picking up a couple of cheap 4 packs for multiplayer with friends. Horde is a blast. Glad I picked up the 4 pack of it for $8 yesterday.

Also, any recommendations for great Board-like games? I would really love something like Culdcept Saga on Steam.

so, is there a possibility that the first mass effect game will be a daily deal? i've been looking to get it since i got a new graphics card but i can't really find it cheap anywhere.

Erp, I posted in the wrong Steam thread. :lol

How are the Iron Grip Warlord and Defense Gride achievements in terms of difficulty?

Flight Control HD is glitched, so it's easy to get, and The Polynomial is easy to get provided you have a computer that can play it.

I'd say so. We already got Bad Company and Dragon Age pack sales. There's also a pack for Mass Effect for -22% now. Could very well go -33% or -50% in a daily deal. Wait until the last day before you buy.

Dragon Age 2 or Two Worlds 2? I don't know what to do...

I guess it depends on what kind of game you like, but I thought Dragon Age 2 was a terrible game with good production values. Two Worlds 2, on the other hand, is a very interesting game with beautiful graphics, but relatively low production values.

I would recommend Two Worlds 2. $35 is way too much for such an awful game like Dragon Age 2. Get it for $10 or under if at all, in my opinion.

Added Transformers to the ever increasing backlog.

Well done Steam, you've nailed me with something every day so far.

How is Two Worlds 2? Is it like Risen/Gothic, I didn't care for those.

Assassin's Creed Brotherhood, is the Deluxe versions extras worth the extra cash? I'll only be playing single player.

Tropico 3 Gold, I know it's extremely cheap but with Tropico 4 coming out this year, should I really bother with 3?

Tropico 3 is bloody awesome, and the price it is atm. You're be stupid not too. I bought both the original and the expansion at full price, no regrets at all.

Hell, PM me you Steam name and I'll gift it to you if I have to

In other news, holy shit balls is Darksiders brilliant in 1080p 60fps. My god. I have already finished it on 360 but it was plagued with slow down, 30fps and tearing. Playing it now on my PC is just godly (wireless 360 controller of course, would imagine keyboard + mouse would suck ass). Just wish it was Games for Windows Live, have much invested in my Live achievements, don't care for Steam ones.

Damn Microsoft and their Achievements, I don't feel like I'm getting the most out of my games unless I am contributing something to my Live gamerscore these days, it's the only thing holding my back from going all PC these days.

I was like you once. Eventually, the Steam Achievements take enough hold of ya to act as a nice way to wean off the Gamerscore system onto something more PC centric.

I too am interested in this information. A nice digital board game on Steam to play with the wife would be great :)

Not that I'm aware of. I just thought about Greed Corp, checked the page and saw it was too ridiculously cheap not to own. I also saw three people had it on their wishlist.

There's a lot of stealth deals.

So my friend bought borderlands so we could play and his game crashes on start up...theres no error code or anything. It's on a macbook pro 15" screen but he has windows 7 on it

Just Modern Warfare 2. I played a little of the first and got tempted and it's cheaper than in retail. Thought long and hard about Dragon Age 2 but decided against. I platinum'd it on the PS3 and thought it was a mediocre game at best. But there's something about BioWare games. It's still too expensive. At €9.99 or €14.99 it would have been a steal... but now it's just not worth it.

I am officially able to PC game again. I just purchased a decent rig on the cheap in hopes to just upgrade the video card when BF3 comes out.

I need some suggestions on what to get via steam. I own every console, or some form of them, so many multiplatform games(like AssBro) I've already played through/tried on consoles. I've only bought BFBC2 from the steam sale so far, so obviously if any suggestions show up during the sale, I'd be more inclined to buy them.

The games I have so far:
Every game Valve has made, except L4D2(have it on 360)
All Blizzard games.
GTAIV
Torchlight
World of Goo
Plants Vs Zombies
Mass Effect 2(have 1 on 360)
Modern Warfare 2
Battlefield:BC2 + Vietnam
Fallout 3
Fallout NV

Any MUST play games on PC that I may have missed over the last 10 years? If it's better on PC then what the console showed let me know too please(the new Fallouts come to mind)

Torchlight is beyond a steal at this price.

How well does TW2 run? Is it buggy? I seem to recall one of the release platforms having graphics glitches with it.

I'm in the same position as him, but I'm starting not to care any more. However I will still go out of my way for a game that is GFWL and Steam.

I just hope when Windows 8 comes out they do a better job of getting devs to support it and they clean up the bugs. I certainly like Steam way, way more but I have a lot of friends that only game on the 360.

It would be nice to have both worlds at the same time.

I think Steam is not going to get my money today, for once.

I already have Torchlight, K&L2, DA2 and Defense Grid.

Kinda interested in Two Worlds, MW2 and ACB, but I'll hold out for better deals during the holiday sale. My backlog is so insane that I wouldn't likely touch any of them before then anyways.

Darksiders won't actually run at all on my Windows 7 64 bit PC, so that's fucking bad. I've tried every single solution listed online, including hex editing the options file to force the game to launch in my screen's resolution the first time it launches, but it just goes to a black screen and doesn't continue.
Works fine on Win 7 64 bit for me so I don't think that's the issue there.

Ok, I'll trust gaf and I'll wait until the last day to buy Terraria.
Meanwhile... I guess I'll get Defense Grid and Torchlight.
Why Aquaria doesn't get a Daily Deal :(

BUY TROPICO. I picked up the Gold pack for $5 in a previous sale, and it is literally the best deal I've gotten on all of Steam. The game is great & full of personality, and also quite long.

It's the first game I've 100%'d in several years - I completed all the missions. Took about 43 hours.

Activision and Capcom be trolling with those prices.

That's how they roll, man. Always has been.

Interesting, too, that EA isn't even participating this time outside of daily deals.

For Iron Grip: Warlord, I don't think you're limited by difficulty, so playing on easy or medium is best. Got it the other day by playing a game with friends on Bunker, and the trick is to leave the last 1-2 Officers alone and rack up points as more often than not they [the Officers], would run into the underground tunnels and stay there. The round won't finish until you kill off the remaining/last officer, iirc/afaik.

I'm thinking today may be the last day of the sale for me. If I kept buying dailies, I won't be able to afford the iD pack which I truly want.

If you like Fallout and you like FPS, then the STALKER games come to mind. Unlike anything you'll find on consoles. Surprisingly they have not (yet) been part of any daily deals (as opposed to previous years), but apart from Clear Sky, they are on general sale.

Ah, so Iron Grip needs to be down in multiplayer?

Bought Two Worlds II. DA2 is going to have to get a whole lot cheaper than that for me to purchase it. Say around $10 or less.

It's already 75% off, so I wouldn't hold your breath. I pulled the trigger on it, because it's $5. I won't cry myself to sleep if it gets a daily deal. Even if it went to 90% off (it won't) that's only $3 less.

This.

The best Metroidvania title since Super Metroid deserves your immediate attention. I've triple-dipped ($20 when it released, $15 or whatever when it hit Steam, and once more as part of one of the Humble Indie Bundles) and the game's worth exceeds the total amount spent.

Dragon Age: Origins is miles better than the console versions. The Ulimate Edition (which has the base game + expansion + all DLC) is only $10, and you could get up to 80-100 hours with all of the content available and with only 1 character. It's great for multiple playthroughs, so it's perfect if you want a lot of bang for your buck.

So how many of you are feeling pangs of regret over games you bought in last year's sale which you still haven't played, which have shown up for cheaper now?

Tropico 3: Bought for $13 last year. Me am cry.

Well it's easiest in multiplayer, that's for sure. It's also by far the most entertaining way to play it.

You could hold out hope for an Indie Humble Bundle 3 that throws in the first two bundles.

Yep. Haha, lesson learned - games will always be cheaper next year.

There should probably be a section on Steam for games that don't require a dedicated video card. I'm trying to put together a good list of games on sale that even the console peasants can run on their shitty netbooks.
