I'm at $94 so far. There are still a lot of things I want but I'll see what happens. Still haven't bought 2 console games with what I have spent here.

This has definitely been my heaviest day so far. Terraria, SC Conviction, The Last Remnant, and ARMA II.
ouch. I hate to have to do this.. As was mentioned earlier in this thread, GreenManGaming and the British tabloid "The Sun" have a promo deal going where they are giving out free copies of Arma II, Men of War, and Tower Bloxx Deluxe.
http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/fun/gaming/3681414/Games-for-gratis.html

In-keeping with our scouring the gaming universe for the best free titles on the market, we've also secured exclusive codes to download THREE more titles.
All you need to do is head to Green Man Gaming, and enter the relevant code for the game you want below - by all means, download all three.
* Arma II - a first-person shooter and military simulator.
Code: THESU-NFREE-ARMA2
* Men of War - acclaimed war-time strategy title.
Code: THESU-NFREE-MOFW2
* Tower Bloxx Deluxe - addictive, fun puzzle game.
Code: THESU-NFREE-BLOXX
The codes are valid for this weekend only - so get in quick!

Their servers are really getting hammered though, I have only been able to redeem Arma II so far, and I have been trying for a couple of hours.

Wow they finally fixed it. It saw my videos finally. So that's another. Think I'll pick up the freebie game with some tickets since I'm starting to build up a nice little batch since my last freebie redemption. lol

I didn't see any freebie games, just DLC style content? What's the game I'm not seeing?

Seriously. I went overboard. Never again, Steam!

But hey, atleast I bought a couple dozen indie titles that I always wanted to support/plus (plus some shit impulse buys that cost a buck).
Haha you say that now.

How can i tell if a server is vanilla or not? How can i delete all these mods i downladed?

Sorry for being a bother, but i planned for this to be a gift for my brother that went out and the both of us frustrated lol.

There is usually a filter option for it. I don't have COD4 so I don't know what their server browser looks like but most games the filter for unmodded games is called "pure".

ARMA II is going free to play any day now so that's no biggy. Men of War is cool though.

So GAF, here's my situation. I only got $10 left in my budget, should I pass on Last Remmant, and hope for the best tomorrow or should I give in? I'm expecting a Terraria and/or Morrowind deal, even if the last one is less likely though.

I think great gameplay is more than enough to own a game...

Don't get TLR. Terrible story. You will get bored with it.

Damn, the Mass Effects are tempting but I don't think my PC could do them justice. Ended up getting Fallout 3: GOTY, and don't mind paying the extra 34 cents from the D2D deal to have on Steam. Thought about a Splinter Cell and Mafia 1/2 but I don't think I'd ever really play them...Solid day though

The only game that I still want that hasn't gone on sale is NBA 2k11

I picked up Mass Effect, and it keeps giving me General Protection Faults. I checked my specs of my laptop at http://www.systemrequirementslab.com and it told me that my video card wasn't supported.
However, I seem to meet the minimum attributes.

Anyone have any insight? Am I just screwed here? I barely ever PC game, so I don't really know much about this.[/QUOTE]

You have integrated graphics, which means that unless you have a very new processor - Sandy Bridge - you can't play most games. Mass Effect is a game that I believe you won't be able to run. Perhaps try bringing all the graphics settings to low.

Are we going to get a full Daily Sale tomorrow, or is just the best-of? I'm holding my breath on UT3, which isn't bad for $10, but I'd be all over it for $5.

Nothing is set in stone, obviously, but the consensus is that tomorrow will be another set of Daily Deals and Sunday will be the Best Of.

Strange. I am trying to buy "Napoleon: Total War - Peninsular Campaign", but mid-purchase Steam says I already own it but the Store doesnt have the banner saying that I do (and looking in the library doesnt help). I could try sending it to myself as a gift, but this is weird.

Buy amnesia, play it, enjoy it and then go back and buy penumbra and ask why all FPS games don't let you interact with the environment like this.
Then go onto their forums and speak to the dev team and ask how such a small team thought of the ideas.

I think tomorrow is the last day for a full Daily Sale, while Sunday (7/10) will probably be the Best of sale, since it's the last day of the actual Steam sale.

I need a good story to stick to a game like that.

I thought the same...and then I tried to remember a RPG story that I actually liked, and it goes back to FFIV (and I was in my teens). Though FFVI and FFIX were decent enough to keep me interested.

I guess there aren't really any videogame stories that I find really memorable, even though I'd expect it from a RPG. They are just so melodramatic, over the top and/or convoluted.

So I'm tempted to pick up The Last Remant because of the battle system, but I just don't know. Backlog is bad enough as it is and I'm still trying to finish FFXIII.

Fuck. Well, thanks, I'll try that, or I'll just have to wait until I buy a new computer to actually play it.

If you are looking for great gameplay then I wouldn't include Morrowind at all. It's an awesome atmospheric sandbox game (And by far the best of the elder scrolls games) but there's nothing sophisticated about its' gameplay systems.

Between TLR and Terraria it's really more of a preference thing. Both of them are innovative and unique gameplay experiences; I'd really recommend you try to get them both. There's also no guarentee Terraria is going to be on sale considering it was just released. TLR is probably never getting a sequel though if that matters to you at all. :/

This did not adress the problem i am having.
What i want to know is how i can tell if a server will force me to downlad a mod or not, and why it kicked me out each time i finish dowloading it right before the game starts.

I just want to play, i cant get in a game at all.
Well if there is "promod" or anything with "mod" in the name... it's a modded server. There is also an option to show only vanilla servers, iirc.

In order to stop being kicked out of the game, you need to install punkbuster and update COD4 with it.

You have integrated intel graphics. There's very few modern games that will run on those graphics. The only games that will run reliably will be older games (from 2006 and before) or most indie games.

For all its' flaws the story in TLR isn't any worse than FFXIII's from a narrative standpoint. Some of the sidequests are as interesting as the good parts of 13 (basically the Sazh + Vanille parts of the game) and TLR's combat and character development is superior in every way.

Same here. I'm not even into sports, but I find the games fun if they have a franchise mode. It's almost like playing an RPG.

I'll definitely go for 2K11 @ $10 or less, so hopefully it's in the final day. I'm still holding out for Dead Space 2 but I'm not gonna count on it. Aside from those, there isn't much else I'm on the lookout for, I'm pretty much set with games for now.

Way better English dub too

Nothing at all for me today!

I guess being on Steam since Jan. '09, I've been through enough sales to have nearly everything.

I'm just hoping for a daily on Terraria & Section 8:prejudice, now.

So...whats this Universe Sandbox? im a bit of a space nerd so this intrigues me

The name sorta says it all. You can manipulate planet sizes and their orbit trajectory and other stuff like that. I haven't done too much with it yet but there are black holes you can spawn and stuff too.

There's no audio or music so the game feels kinda lifeless. Very sterile :\

Lifeless, sterile space simulation. Sounds like my kind of game.

How the fuck is my dude holding that rifle? Is this a glitch or something?

Edit: Wow, yep, it was a bug.

What's Splinter Cell DRM like? Online all time? Online at start-up?

For an RPG noob, is The Last Remnant an accessible game?
Also can I buy stuff from other regions using a proxy/vpn?

So I already have Fallout 3, but only the standalone non-steam version. Should I buy the GOTY version since it has the DLC + Steam?

So, not all support the record video function to upload to youtube, right?

If you can do that with every game, how do you record a video?
