quite the opposite with the sale, I have seen a lot of new people. The game is still going strong and is quite fun

Illness is the doctor to whom we pay most heed; to kindness, to knowledge, we make promise only; pain we obey.
I started out a bit early on the sale and picked up:

  • Hydrophobia
  • Europa Universalis III

Then the actual sale took off and this is what Steam replaced with money:

  • Back to the Future
  • BIT.TRIP.RUNNER
  • Bully
  • Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2
  • Dark Messiah: Might and Magic
  • Dreamfall: The Longest Journey
  • Grand Theft Auto IV + Episodes from Liberty City
  • Heroes of Might and Magic V + Expansions
  • Jamestown
  • Just Cause 2
  • Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light
  • Magicka + DLC
  • Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale
  • Terraria
  • The Longest Journey
  • The Void
  • Tomb Raider: Anniversary
  • Trine
  • Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines

I haven't counted and I don't want to know how much I've spent, but it's most likely far more than I imagine and/or hope. :)

How much is Borderlands: GotY edition in the US? Because I have it 75% off and it is still €12,50.- In the OP day1 it shows as $7,50.- Is that true?

Are Dawn of War II and Chaos Rising worth getting? I bought Retribution and am loving it.

As I understand it you have everything you need multiplayer-wise in Retribution. Dawn of War II and Chaos Rising are only worth it if you want to play the single player campaigns.

Not at all. A lot of people only bought it back during the christmas sale, and it's probably the same with this sale too. It's a fun game and I didn't have any problem getting into it. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Campaign is pretty lame though.

Damage report:

Recettear: An Item Shop's Tale | 3,75 €
Command and Conquer 4: Tiberium Twilight | 5 €
Terraria | 2,49 €
Just Cause 2 | 4,99 €
-----------------------
Total: 16,23 €

I just noticed that all are time consuming games, damn.

Oh holy crap, I almost forgot this is the last day to pickup Bloodlines! That was a close one.

Also, I'm having an issue finalizing a sale. I already own Magicka but it won't let me pickup a 4-pack to give as gifts. When I go to checkout, the options to "purchase for myself" and "Purchase as a Gift" are greyed out. Any ideas?

My haul:
The Witcher 2
Darksiders
Frozen Synapse
Beat Hazard (Complete)
Batman Arkham Asylum
Tomb Raider Anniversary
Bloodlines
Borderlands GOTY
Killing Floor DLC: Post-mortem
Magicka DLC: Marshlands

Total: about 60 euros

Definitely. The campaigns are great.
Be careful though, they're GFWL and I know some people hate that (I don't care).

3.00 - HOARD
7.50 - Quake Collection
2.50 - Star Wars Battlefront II

-----
27.99

Damn, I'm good!

But then there's my gifting sprees:

3.00 - SPECACT pack
2.50 - Deus Ex GOTY Edition
10.00 - 4x Hitman: Blood Money (3 to lucky artist GAFers here!)
7.50 - Quake Collection
2.00 - Trine (to a lucky GAFer here!)
-----

My gifting purchases nearly outdo my personal ones! See you later, Space Cowboy!

Nah, buy it if you don´t already have filled up with RTS games. It´s a great game.

Does having it have any impact on the first two games, or is it its own beast? I want it, but it seems silly to buy it when I'm overbudget and haven't finished the first two campaigns.

If I grab Portal 2: The Final Hours does that go in the media section of my Steam Library or the Games section? I'd really prefer it to not clutter up my games section once I'm done with it...

I think the 4 pack is a different item. See on the Magicka page, it says "Buy Magicka 4 pack"

Civ V DLC £6.71
Total War: SHOGUN 2 - Ikko Ikki Clan DLC £1.79
BIT.TRIP.RUNNER £1.75

Total = £10.25

I might grab one or two cheapo games before the final whistle is blown.

Hitman: Blood Money €2,49
Jamestown €4,49
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: CoP €3,49
S.T.A.L.K.E.R.: SoC €2,49
Heroes Pack: €6,24

Total: €19,2

Kind of disappointing summersale in the sense that I was expecting a lot of games to go lower. But then again I already own most of the games that were actually interesting to begin with. Also, gamersgate had lower prices on pretty much all of the games in the Square Enix-pack when their sale was on so I grabbed a bunch of games in that sale instead.

Now I'll just have to start going through my backlog because it's getting pretty damn crowded.

It goes in your games section, silly Steam

Total haul:

- Might & Magic Pack
- Fable III
- Day of Defeat: Source
- Bad Company 2 + SpecAct Kit
- Return to Castle Wolfenstein
- Far Cry
- Neverwinter Nights 2

Overall I'm happy with myself, didn't go overboard this time. I've been a huge fan of the Fable series since the first game (no PC port of Fable II was a pretty big bummer) and since I no longer have a 360, figured I might as well just grab Fable III at that price.

My entire haul:

Assassin's Creed 2
Fallout New Vegas
Warhammer 40,000: Dawn of War II - Retribution
Inside a Star Filled Sky
Hydrophobia: Prophecy
Prince of Persia: Sands of Time
Terraria
Prince of Persia: Forgotten Sands
Prince of Persia: Two Thrones
Prince of Persia: The Warrior Within
Fallout 3 - Game of the Year
Risen
Jamestown

Spent ~$70, so not too bad. I'm up to 225 games on Steam now... jeez.

Rather than posting everything I bought, I'm going to discuss my immediate regrets:

Amnesia
Played about an hour and the atmosphere is as strong as everyone says, but I've always been about gameplay above all else so this sort of game doesn't suit me quite so well.

Audiosurf
Figured it was about time and it was only $1.50. I don't find it fun at all, but maybe I need to try out the different ships a bit more.

Bit.Trip.Runner/Beat
Only played Beat enough to get the first ticket and had my mouse sensitivity set way too high for it to be enjoyable. In general, I don't find it that fun. Runner, I played up to the first boss, but don't feel compelled to play any more. I might beat the first boss and see if world 2 is different enough to respark my interests, but I doubt it.

Magicka Complete
I knew this wasn't a game for me before, but I fell for the slipper slope of "It's only $3" into "It's only $5 more for all the DLC in case I like it." Like with Amnesia, I really should have ignored what everyone else was saying and stayed with what I know: myself.

SpaceChem
I actually like this a lot, but once I got to a puzzle that I knew I could solve but didn't want to think that hard to solve it, I knew I had made a mistake.

Half regrets:
Alpha Protocol, Dragon Age Origins Ultimate, the Last Remnant, Trine
AP and DAOU I've already finished (minus the DA DLC) but the prices were right. Last Remnant I played a good chunk on 360, but I'm not sure if I'll ever get that far in the game again. Trine I bought before on D2D, but basically paid $2 to have it on Steam.

Of course over half my purchases were an hour ago, on old/indie/non-featured games, plus the DoWII:R pricing mistake. I could easily go on to regret most of those.

Not to be overly negative, though, two games have already exceeded their value for me.

Plants vs. Zombies
I figured it was time. Even though I typically don't like tower defense games, the price was right and I had seen enough to risk a couple of bucks. I finished the main game and all the minigames, so I'm probably already done with it, but it was money well spent. Also the music is stuck in my head and I may have developed a slight nerd crush on Laura Shigihara.

Recettear
Steam sale equivalent of a first reply /thread. I was bummed about missing it in the winter sale and was thrilled to see it day one. Not sure how much more I'll play, but I've already sunk over 15 hours into the story + endless mode. I know there's more to explore, but at this point it's mostly 100% this, 100% that type stuff that plagues Japanese developed games. I've never cared to collect 100% of anything just to complete a database and I don't plan on starting now.

At the end, is those 10 to 15 euros games that rank up what you pay. Well, its summer, ive finished college, have a good job. Im happy with my final list!

So looks like you'll be playing none of them I presume :p

He's a pretty swell guy in my books anyway.
Man, some of those publisher packs are so tempting. I've added the Meridian 4 pack to my cart like 5 times now.

Are you sure about that? Someone mentionned earlier they were Steamworks enabled now, like Retribution? GFWL being mandatory is a deal breaker for me and I was considering getting Gold Pack tonight so I'd like some confirmation about this whole thing.

Ok, I'm now ending this.

Summary:
The Longest Journey + Dreamfall - 6.24 $
Sanctum (1/4 Pack with friends) - 2.50 $
Lara Croft Guardians Of Light - 3.74 $
RUSH - 1.24 $
Beat Hazard Complete - 3.24 $
Frozen Synapse (1/2 with a friend) - 6.25 $
Torchlight - 3.00 $
SpaceChem - 5.09 $
Swords And Soldiers - 3.40 $
----------------------------------------------------
Total: 34.70 $

I can't complain at all. I got all I wanted
and more
, except for Portal 2. I've been wanting to get it, but here we have to multiply that total number by 4,2 ('Cause 1 dollar = 4,2 pesos). I had to let it pass... for now. I'll be back on Christmas and get my revenge :p

I was pretty close to getting the THQ pack because I would at least dabble in enough games to make it worth it, but there were also games I absolutely wouldn't play.
