Anyone else having trouble getting Hamilton's to run? I've installed it, but it won't launch. The preparing to launch game screen appears, then goes away without the game even attempting to start. I don't have the foo folder under Steamapps(earlier today it was apparently downloading the files to that folder instead of Hamilton's), and all the files appear under the Hamilton folder like they should. I have deleted local files and reinstalled multiple times. Running Windows 7 Pro 64bit. Trying to run the exe doesn't do anything either. It passes Steam validation. I can't really think of anything else to try. Help me please GAF wizards.
Check Windows Update for optional updates for your video card. I had that problem with Hamilton and it turns out all I needed to do was download an update for my card and restart my computer.

You're better off buying Risen.

I mean it. Plus it's $15

Shit. Almost missed Battlefront 2 for $2.50. Any good on the PC?

I bought it today and only played it for about 30 minutes so far but I had fun. I went through the tutorial dealie that runs through all the classes. Tried all the storm trooper variants and then bailed after I died as Mace Windu (wtf?). It's kind of last gen FPS in quality (definitely in terms of enemy AI) but if you're a Star Wars fan you will get a kick out of it. It's $2.49. Go for it. Runs great on Win7 64-bit, too.

Let me show you through these halls, my friend, where treasures of indie gaming await...
Question: What games does the pack include for 49.99? Are you telling me the 2 portals, the 2 Left for Dead and the Half Life 2's are included?

Really? Is this part of the summer deal?

I didn't know they made a PC version of Devil May Cry 3. How well does it run and how does it look? I can't play this game on my ps2/ps3 because the graphics look horrible and pixelated on my HDTV.

Gothic 4 is really not a good game, unfortunately. Well, not a good GOTHIC game, which is what is important here.

Every single Valve game. This is real life. Welcome to Steam, friend.

Im holding 2San responsible for a potential 50 green tears investment. Let's see how it goes.

Is anyone getting a good download speed from a region? I've tried quite a few and the most I can get is 500k/sec

You don't need to buy the game to see which games it has. :p For what it's worth I bought the pack yesterday and it has all those games. You even get the Team Fortress 2 Beta, no idea what it's for though.

G2Play Steam keys have been removed from accounts before, it isn't a legitimate seller, this has all been gone over.

Gifting US Steam games to people outside the US is just as illegitimate yet done openly on Neogaf.

Lets not kid ourselves... if its cheaper who cares if its "against" some 1000 page EULA that isn't legally binding anyway.

I certainly would care if I bought a cdkey from the site and it was removed from my account by Valve. I would be out of the game and the money.

Some people think its worth the say 0.01% risk of that happening, similar risk as being gifted a game from USA when you don't live there.

I'd buy that in a heartbeat if it wasn't for the horrible DRM.

Risen; 3 machine limit. There are no regenerating activations

And no way to revoke.
Tages should revoke on uninstall though? I'm semi sure.

Even so at worst you'd only need to call someone about it I think.

It's sad how much companies can get away with, because it's simply too troublesome to deal with it.

Tages is the worst DRM out there. Worse than Ubisoft DRM. It's locked friends out of Stalker Clear Sky, and Riddick, with seemingly no solution (contacting TAGES, Steam, and the Developers yielded no answer). I will never buy a TAGES game.

I have installed and reinstalled both of those games more than 3 times though? Well riddick was from gamersgate but clear sky isnt.

Never had an issue when The Witcher 1 had tages either.

Has anyone ever had a game taken off their account that was gifted from another region?

I've never heard of it happening.

Wouldn't surprise me if, much like Securom, The Witcher 1 was VERY light in how it used Tages. I know it actively broke the game though if it detected a positive for piracy, removing NPCs or something that were essential to beating the game, which I did find amusing!

However, knowing they're problematic about activations is enough to know I should just avoid them. Figures it's strong PC exclusives that seem most likely to have it though.

Wtf are you saying...

"My friend is in another country, can they install the game at the same time it is available to me?

Not necessarily. Steam games are tied to the region's release schedule. If another user has a later release date for their country, they will not be able to play their received gift until that time.

Yes, for $49.99 you get every game listed here:
http://store.steampowered.com/sub/7930/

It is like buying Portal 2 and getting the entire Valve back-catalog for free. So worth it if you don't have the games.

It is testing area for new weapons & updates. They try out new stuff in the Beta and some if it makes it to the official versions and some does not.

Due to the license agreement (that you accepted during installation) it is not allowed to install the game on more than one computer at the same time. If you do not change either the operating system or the hardware configuration there is no activation limit at all.

Please don't hesitate to contact us if there will be a problem with your activation limit in the future.

Talking about getting around steam region pricing and local censorship by having a US friend gift you cheaper and uncensored version of games when you live outside the US.

Wow, so it's similar to Riddick's then. Thanks for finding that. It's now on my list of games to buy on the final day.

Hold on, I read a bit more into the topic and saw this:

1. I have also read that the activations reset automatically after 45
days. Is this true?
- No, this is not true

I heard HOMM4 was complete shit, so is 5 any better? I have been kind of hankering for a HOMM game since 3.

4 was just not as great as 3 was, and got a lot of flak for changing some of the more fundamental elements to the game I believe. However 5 tops 3 in quite a few areas, one of which being the tactical combat, which for me is a large draw of HoMM. V's biggest complaints are usually "I don't like how it looked in 3D" or "it's hard to see stuff / control the camera," neither of which really bothered me at all, so in some ways, V is the best game of the series as far as single-player gameplay goes, as it's the most evolved while keeping true to it's roots. Some people find the skill acquisition confusing as well, but they have guides/tools to show you what to pick to get the skills you want. I didn't use them myself, and generally had little trouble getting what I wanted. There's only a few instances on the higher levels where you seemingly need an over-powered ballista to win, but there's a lot of diversity in tactics thanks to the variety in skills.

Dear Rob,

we've raised your activation limit. You can activate Risen three more times
now.
Here some answers: *to questions I had asked in my previous email*

1. I have also read that the activations reset automatically after 45
days. Is this true?
- No, this is not true

2. How will installations/activations be handled in the future if Koch
Media and/or Tages is no longer in business? Is there a plan to retire
the activation feature or will the game be unusable in that event?
- If this highly unlikely event takes place the copy protection will probably
be removed but neither Koch Media nor Tagès will go down in the foreseeable
future.

3. In the future, if activation issues arise again (Though, I will
certainly try to avoid this again!), is Koch Media the appropriate
point of contact or Tages? In my experience, Tages was unprofessional
in their response and unwilling to help, not a Customer Service
oriented business to say the least.
- The Tagès people are just doing their job, we don't normally receive any
complaints about their support. If you should experience any problems with
them please in the future please let us know.

Gifting games to people in other regions is by no means against the EULA. Paying someone the price of a game to gift it to you, or exchanging gifts of equal value to get around regional pricing probably is. However, catching someone doing that would be incredibly difficult to do since the exchange of money happens outside of Steam and it just looks like gifts. Admittedly if someone's doing it a lot, it'd be more obvious.

But they know where the CD keys come from. It's a lot easier for them to catch people buying CD keys from non-approved resellers then it is to catch people on a forum circumventing regional pricing. Additionally, people HAVE been caught buying CD keys from non-approved resellers and have had games deleted. To my knowledge no one's ever been caught exchanging gifts to circumvent regional pricing, although if they have please let us know so that we can take the appropriate precautions.

And how are they supposed to know who is doing that, exactly? Yep, they can't. A gift is a gift.

WTF at Test Drive Unlimited 2...

It finally downloaded, so I started it up, it popped up the launcher box, started verifying files, then in the patching window a message pops up saying "Your NAT type is Strict:UDPBlocked".

The updating freezes and doesn't go any further. It starts updating before the message appears, so I don't know why it won't complete. Any ideas GAF?

Aren't you happy enough now that you bought all those games so cheap?

Latin America one is working like a charm for Brazilian users... I guess.

Sorry to ask such a broad question, but are there any decent flight games on sale? Not familiar with the names so I thought I would ask.
