i quite enjoy the Call of Duty series, even though its popular to hate on it these days, but that sale price on Black Ops is pretty lame.

shoulda done better than that at this point.

Someone just gifted me 5 dollars worth of games and I need to give him something in return. Recommend me something to gift for 5 dollars that isn't JC2 or HoMM5.

I thought Black Op's campaign was a total drag, but the competitive multiplayer is good, mindless fun. It's like junk food. I want the game, but Activision needs to try a little harder than that. Nearly $40 for a PC game that has a 5 hour single player campaign and an MP mode that does only a few things differently than the last game, and that's supposed to be a deal? Come on, son.

This video still freaks me out.

I mean, just think about it. He literally doesn't do anything to beat the level. Nothing.
But when you play, the game is so hectic that you do feel that you are really needed. So in some ways, it is impressive how well the make you feel so into the action even though you are mostly just a bystander.

Eschalon 2 (I have actually only tried the first one's demo, but looks like something pretty unique that is not getting made anymore.)

I have a question about Heroes V.
Is it similar to King's Bounty or more like Age of Wonders? I mean ... does the combat take place on some sort of grid or chess board (KB) or does it have a map where you actually place your units (AoW)?

Because I bought the King's Bounty collection in the previous sale and I still have to play them, if Heroes is not that different I'll just get Dark Messiah instead of the full pack.

It's a board, and it's most like King's Bounty in design because that's what it's influenced by.

The Call of Duty games almost never have a good sale during a Steam sale. I was actually surprised that MW1 and 2 were pretty cheap a few weeks back.

They sell so well, they barely need a sale.

Anybody else having trouble getting KOTOR to run on Windows 7?
I haven't had any in the past that I can remember, I just hate how you have to jump through hoops for proper resolution/widescreen with the Steam version.

Yes, I had a lot of problems. I'll try to dig up the solutions that I used, I've got it working perfectly now though.

Edit: I believe this was it. Not sure about widescreen though.

Did you play the game? Or are you using an intro level as a representation of the rest of the game?

I doubt that you could do the same thing with the following levels, but it is as close as you can get to being on rails without actually being on rails. I definitely wouldn't recommend buying it for the campaign, it's mostly a throwaway, but the MP might justify the price if you have dudes to play with. The zombie mode is fun too, but I grow tired of it pretty fast.

Besides buying Civ 5, it looks like I'm safe for another day for the daily deals. Although couple of the Star Wars games are tempting.

X3: Terran Conflict
Mirror's Edge
Aliens VS predator
Darksiders
Vampire TMBL
Terraria
Killing Floor Complete
Transformers WFCT
Riddick Dark Athena

Please go on a daily tomorrow <3

In option>video. Honestly it wouldn't make a big difference, though. The game still looks like crap on high settings.

Yeah I am stupid, didn't see the scroll bar. I think it looks pretty good though.

I just see it used as proof a lot and it seems to be by people who haven't played the game.

World at War was similarly discounted few times too (ie. summer '09)

Got Saira from creator Nifflas' promotion. Will gift a copy with some sort of competition or draw or something when the promotion has ended to show the love.

Maaaaan why won't TF2 load I am running out of time
Don't worry about it too much, you can get the achievements any time during the sale after they're active. Unless you're leaving town or something. Then panic!

Have you played The Dig? Monkey Island? Sam and Max?
Yes to all 3.. definitely a big fan of old school adventure games from Lucas Arts and Sierra. I guess it's only $4.99, can't hurt to give it a shot.

Licorice-flavoured booze?
I'm really not feeling the sale this year, I think after a few steam sales you end up purchasing most of the cheap games you wanted, glad I got Bit Trip runner though.

What are the chances of something like Bulletstorm going on sale at around a 50% drop?

Really? Hm, wasn't aware of that. Good news then. I'll have to try for it tomorrow.

Sanctum any good?
I think the game is awesome, especially the co-op. Really encourages communication with your partner, and they'll be adding four player co-op pretty soon too.

Be prepared for some minor difficult balance issues in the co-op mode though.

In my experience, the 'Experienced' difficulty (medium) takes a few waves before it finally ramps up to being a bit of a challenge, whereas the Hardcore mode (hardest) ramps up too quickly. Nevertheless, it wasn't enough to detract from my enjoyment of the game.

I've played 10 hours with a buddy of mine since buying it 3-4 days ago. Highly recommend it if you're looking for tower defense, mixed in with a decent first person shooter mechanic.

Nice deal on DXHR

Thanks for the heads up, so bought!

Edit: Also, if anyone hasn't registered for Green Man Gaming yet and is planning to buy Sanctum (or anything else off there), PM me, and I'll give you a referral link so that we each get a $5 credit after your purchase.
