That attack you described does give a "soft knockdown", but is not a sweep.
Can someone give me an example of a sweep I can do in practice? With either Ryu or Nash.

I love the guide. For a Street Fighter noob like myself, I'd say it's near perfect. Sure, it's a printed guide, so some things will change. But, I love the comprehensive glossary at the beginning and the detailed breakdown of each character. I had no idea there were so many terms to understand, and don't even get me started on interpreting frame data. I can't wait to dive back in tonight and keep practicing!

I think I'm gonna buy it just for the framed picture of Ryu and Ken that comes with it.

any pointers to using Nash?

like what are some of his bnbs and anti-airs?

I would like to know this as well.

Looking for people to play with over the next few days. My CFN is Lord_Dubz.

I'm in the lower intermediate level I would say.

I sent you a PM some days ago.

So when you guys are using synonyms, what are the difference between a c and a cr? Bought are crouch? Or cancel and crouch?

Also, is Balrog = Bison, or Balrog = Vega?

How do you see your win loss record? When i go to profile all i manage to find is a list of all the individual fights I've had and which i won or lost.

I don't want to count things up to see if i'm doing good or not.

Also how do you rank up? I got like 890 Pts and i'm not ranked.

Normally people say cr. or c as crouch, xx as cancel as far as I am aware.

Uuuuuuuuh....Vega has a command grab? Dude just won by ex grabbing me into a wall dive

Without his claw, his claw slash is replaced with a command grab. Vega actually seems to be 'different' rather than 'worse' without his claw now, which is why you can take the claw on and off.

I actually like the art in the Story mode. =/
What annoys me, is those achievements popping up on top of the subtitles (I play with Japanese voices). They should change that.

Oh yeah, xx is cancel. I will write down all these synonyms in a notepad file now.

Yes and no, if distanced properly it can be really safe, or you command grab immediately after it whiffs. It's a really dirty Mika trick but it only works if the opponent isn't mashing jab and if they aren't expecting it.
You sure that shit is safe? I swear I've used it at max range and still get punished.

I really really hate her sweep.

:)

Also as far as 'practicing a sweep' goes, a sweep is just your cr. hk (crouching heavy kick). However sweeps are pretty unsafe in this game so going for the hard knockdown that way may not be a viable strategy.

Characters have other means in which to get a knockdown or hard knockdown though. For instance Chun Li gets a hard knockdown after an airthrow, at least that's what the guidebook say's.

Anyone know that 50% off code for the digital guide? I'm going to grab it later on for bed time reading and quick access when I'm playing.

Losing is so frustrating, and when it feels like none of the characters are clicking with you it makes it even worse. :lol

May have to shelve this early and just wait for Tekken FR, that's more of my background anyway. :(

I would like you to stay on. Hopefully there'll be a character that appeals to you. I'm also a long time Tekken player and it's still my primary fighter, but Street Fighter V feels so good to me.

Bookmarked! Thanks a lot. :)

Ok, this pretty much proves what I was dreading, matchmaking is not a global affair but strictly location-based. This is going to be awful for me because my area of the world hardly has any players in it at all according to the in-game map. This really blows, I've never had issues connecting to EU players in any other fighting game (or ANY online game for that matter). All matches I had with people in EU in the lounge were quite lag free. Really hope they allow people to queue in whichever region they want or I guess I'll never be able to play ranked and casual matches from here...

Location alone doesn't explain why I have to wait +20 minutes to find a match; I'm in Finland and according to the map there should be plenty of players across Europe. So far all my matches have been against Europeans, but in the last beta I was also getting matched against Americans. The queue times were equally terrible though.

I don't think there is one, they just want you to look at LP I guess.

I think its good that they don't show it. Sometimes you get too caught up over win/loss ratio and that affects your game. I think your LP is a good measure to see how good you are. Also will probably keep rage quitting to a minimum.

every single time I complain about survival mode and I just keep going back to that fucking shit, wasting 30 minutes of my life, getting to level 28 and then having nash destroy me

goodbye

Is it the same characters at the same stages? So stage 28 will always be Nash?

I have only had one run of Survival myself so far. Have been more into just practicing.

Been finding matches very quickly these last couple of maches, I like this, this is nice. Let's keep the relationship we have going here, SF5

I just don't really know what to do, feel like Bison outpokes Mika, and those air moves are annoying, also the long range quick knockdown moves he have makes it very hard to me to do stuff I feel

Lol. Mika absolutely demolishes bison's buttons. You can pretty much forward fierce scissors on reaction for free crush counters.

Ah okay. Guess we'll just have to wait for them to fix this shit.

I get some weird error every time I close out the game. It's like 'memory could not be written' or something like that. Dunno what it means or how to fix it.

I also get that error when exiting.

Same. Almost every time I exit.
Have you by any chance changed the Engine.ini and set it to "read only"? That could give you something like that.

Any interest in this people? If not thats fine it was just an idea- I've never made a google doc before and thought this could be cool.

Check it out, add to it, and post it to the OT if it gets popular enough.

Added myself to this list. Thanks for your effort. :)

Yes same characters so my match 30 for Ken will always be bison on normal

Alright, cool cool.

And am I the only guy who DOESN'T feel ripped off with the game? Like genuinely happy and satisfied with how the game is and how content is coming?

Well... Survival Mode needs work but you know what I mean.

Right now, I am extremely happy and content with the product. I like the story mode - I can see its shortcomings - but I like it, also the art. Most of the characters are very interesting, and I love practicing stuff in Training. I have had a few casual online matches, and though I lost all of them, they were enjoyable as they were lagfree. I haven't had any disconnects yet. The only thing I have had problems with are the battle lounges, which didn't work yesterday. Really loving it so far.

"Lol. Mika absolutely demolishes bison's buttons. You can pretty much forward fierce scissors on reaction for free crush counters."

That'd be on the Bisons using Scissors like it's still Ultra, not Mika's buttons being better.

Honestly, that's one of those move I probably horribly under utilize. I definitely have a lot of bad go to habits.

You can make life bison's life very hard. Both stand and crouch short work really well on him. In the stand forward range you can trade with your own stand forward but at that range you basically get a free slide or crouch fierce. Slide will stuff scissors, forward fierce will CC them. You basically don't have to respect a thing he does. You can literally stand short stand jab low short walk up repeat and he'll have to V reversal.

I can't handle Mika at all as Bison. Her and Laura are really hard.

Yea same here. I always keep a bar for a V reversal. I won't even VTC unless its for a kill.

Day 3, still can't get a single ranked match.

I'm beginning to think that this might be a regional problem. Has anyone from middle east/western Asia managed to find ranked matches in the past few days?

any pointers to using Nash?

like what are some of his bnbs and anti-airs?

You can play rush down or use the range of some of his attacks to pick your spots to start pressure. Most of his bnbs involve his easy target combos which are lp>mp and lk>mk you can also do cr.mp>st.mp or cr.mp>st.b+mk to start combos as well but these aren't target combos so don't auto fire them. Good endings for combos are his assault (shoryuken motion) to steal meter and his "flash kick" (qcb+k). EX versions of these moves can be used for some extra damage. You can also combo into his sonic boom and cancel with v trigger to extend the combo on the other side for big damage. EX assault can also be cancelled into forward v trigger to follow up with a j.hk and qcb+lk. His qcb+mk has good range that is almost full screen and is a great poking tool and can be made pretty safe if done from the right distance. His j.mk is a good cross up and can get you big damage if confirmed/v trigger comboed. Regular jump in will also start these combos as well.

St.Hk cr.mp are some of his decent anti airs. Also be careful on using his qcf+k special too much in pressure as you can get air to air out of it on reaction among other things. That move is best used as the ex version after landing a successful hp crush counter and it can be comboed after for huge damage and ended with assault to get a good chunk of meter back. His overhead f+mp I believe is also unsafe on block so be careful in using too much. One big thing compared to most of the cast is that he lacks a 3 frame jab so once characters get in on him he has a little harder time than most with escape options from characters with good pressure an easy way is to use f+ppp to use your v reversal to get out of it.

There are quite a few videos our there on nash and infiltration plays him as well to help you get some good ideas of his movesets and overall play. Overall he is a really fun character to play and I am sure there will be more stuff uncovered for him to allow for multiple playstyles.
