Yeah, my father lives in Orange Beach, AL and the price of houses there is crazy.

Don't think I'll be leaving the Atlanta suburbs any time soon.

You should see what the houses are going for in my neighborhood in So-Cal.

Most people can't afford a house on a single income here near the city. They gotta buy homes out in the boondocks like Bakersfield, Victorville, Rancho, San Bernadino, etc
Yeah, we live in a higher end area in San Bernardino County where the average home is $750k+. We’re knee deep in Tesla drivers here too. I mean shit, maybe 10 miles south, the cheapest shitty homes are selling for $575k.

I remember when a lot of my family bought homes in San Bernadino and Rancho Cucamonga in the 90s when they were cheap. Now that those areas are developed the prices have shot up. My mom sold her home in Carson for $700,000+. The couple that bought it paid her an additional $25,000 so they wouldn't have to get into a bidding war. I've given up on home ownership as I have zero interest in a long commute to work. I don't see how some of my peers do it.

It helps when we have zero debt and two high paying jobs. I also don’t have expensive tastes. Like I’m rocking an older 4k tv, 4 year old phone, 10 year old car, etc. My wife on the other hand likes to have new stuff all the time.

Power couple. That's how it's gotta be to be a comfortable home owner in Cali. The alternative is being "House Poor" haha.

Yeah, like HeisenbergFX4 HeisenbergFX4 , I'm a fan of House Hunters (no, I don't buy the "wife forces me" bit my man :messenger_beaming: ) so I've seen the $1 million postage stamp houses. I don't see how you guys can stand it.
Something that kind of ruined that show for me was my wife's sister had a friend on that show

When they applied they were still house shopping but didn't hear back from the show for several months and by then they had already purchased their home

One of the producers told them they were filming in the area already and would still like to have them on the show

So they toured 2 random homes and toured their own home and acted like they had to make a decision

They said the show had to block out several picture on the walls because it was of them while touring their own home

I know its just TV :)

Yeah......TV being TV. I also watch Love it or List it even though every episode has some clearly scripted parts. The stuff where they mike up the couple but then film them from far away to make it seem like they are talking where no one can hear them. There's a lot of bullshit in those shows.

Yeah we watch that show often as well and when you get bad actors (the home owners) its really bad in those scripted parts

You guys need to step up your bad tv shows. My wife and I used to watch that stuff. Now we watch 90 Day Fiancé crap, Love is Blind, Married at First Sight. Those are some shit shows, but maaaaaaaaaan. Its gold. I like to call it junk food for the brain.

Sigh we watch that shit too and I have to admit some of those people just make me scratch my head and realize there are a lot of people out there very lucky breathing is an involuntary process because I don't think they are smart enough to do it on their own

And new season of Married at First Sight just started

The theory I run with is, we are bad people that enjoy watching others suffer. Our enjoyment comes from watching the intellectually challenged live their lives and struggle. I think I draw the line with Hoarders. That’s just blatant mental illness, and I don’t enjoy that.

I have to admit if my wife never turned the TV on again or something happened to her I would never watch any of those shows again on my own, even if I do get a "Holy fuck are you that stupid?" chuckle from time to time out of those people :)

Same. It’s about enjoying the crazies together. That’s also when I play some remote play on my phone.

It makes sense.

Xbox sell a budget “games pass machine” with the series S, which effectively positions it as the console for bargain hunters and those with limited disposable income. If you’re from a poorer background, statistically you’re likely to have lower levels of education and thus reduced later life earning potential.

Nintendo primarily target kids, and is more balanced in gender in terms of demographics vs both the other consoles. Even in 2024, males earn more on aggregate.

So it kinda makes sense why they would see these results.

Edit: it’s all marginal tho, just a 2k difference. But the above factors even if the variable is relatively minor can move the needle by 1%

$750k is a condo by me
also in socal
Yeah, there’s a chance we can move down to San Diego, where shit is way overpriced too. But we can afford it. I just hate the idea of it, if that makes sense. Like I’m just feeding the fucked up problem.

I do think that if we move down there, I’m going to get a little boat for fishing.

That's why all these people with six figure salaries are still living paycheck to paycheck. My household income is 10x what it was 10 years ago and my ass is still shopping at Walmart for groceries and mowing my own yard.
I won't argue there. The powers that be really doing a number on us.

with you 100%. this market is so dumb.
absolute garbage selling for $1m
plus investors are buying the garbage and trying to polish a turd for a +40% flip... and people buy it.
i swear this stupid picture is in at least 50% of said homes:
shopping

and because of housing costs, socal is slowly turning in a giant retirement center.
roads are full of SLABs (slow ass bitches)
know a lot of people my age who moved to other states primarily due to housing costs.
most people with expensive houses bought them a decade+ ago, and are now retired.
old couples in these large homes, with blue carpets, original countertops, and dirty walls.
its wild to go to open houses and see how a lot of these people live--millionaires due to housing equity yet living like trash.
