Dead shot is even wearing almost the exact same jacket as star lord in those leaked pics of him on set. I bet some DC exec was like "make sure will smith makes snarky remarks while wearing a red leather coat because that's what our market research has found that the kids like these days"

This movie only got green lit because they wanted a guardians of the galaxy clone in the wake of that movies success

If you're going to make a criticism, make it actually good and not "LOOK, THEY'RE BOTH WEARING RED!" Smith isn't even wearing a red leather coat, so I don't know why you're acting like it's some intentional duplicate.

Not to mention the fact Deadshot has been doing that since Simone started writing Secret Six, and comic book Starlord was never as snarky as Pratt was until Bendis started writing the comic.

Anyone else reckon the movie will start by making the point with the reason for them being in Suicide Squad in the first place is because Bats kicked their asses when he was still active all those years ago?

In this thread i learned people in line were created by Marvel. GOTG to be more specific.

Not one of the ancient promo poses ever. GOTG. Such knowledge.

It's funny how Will Smith face isn't covered. I think they all look bad. Especially Harley. She looks like a cosplay , almost a porn-like spoof outfit.

From a studio perspective they see a film about "ragtag team of comic losers/criminals save the universe" and ask DC Comics what do we got so Someone at DC twists the suicide squad concept into "ragtag team of losers/criminals who end up saving the world". There's a lot of studio and office politics involved it's the reason even little things like why characters look different than they do in the comic, who's in the movie, how the movie is marketed, all of that is decided by a variety of factors that don't have anything to do with preserving the integrity of the comics or making a good movie.

Oh and BTW I praised the deadshot design a few pages back despite having earlier reservations about will smith playing Lawton.

Smith put a photo of the full Deadshot costume on Facebook. They didn't cover his face here because it's Will Smith - you want to promote that he's in the film, and it's hard to do that on a full cast costume poster if his face is obscured by a mask.

I think I like how Assault on Arkham does it without Batman better. It adds some more variety and keeps from having an "and stay down" ending, if you know what I mean.

i certainly hope it's not a save the world plot. kind of sick of that. as disappointing as wolverine's last act was i really like how small-scale it was and felt like just a nice little arc set in japan.

Even if you're right.... whats your point. That this movie isn't allowed to exist just because GOTG does? We don't even know what age rating they're aiming for yet.

Uh, the Suicide Squad don't save the world.

And by all the story details, that hasn't changed. At all. Not to mention how Suicide Squad WAS doing the group of misfits angle decades before GOTG's current line up was a thing. And that's putting aside the fundamental different that GOTG choose to come together, Suicide Squad are forced to on pain of death.

It's a superficial similarity, at best.

Harley isn't really wearing a uniform. Chances are her outfits are going to vary during the film. Its not like Cap with 1 fixed suit a film.
