Summer Games Done Quick 2017 | July 2 - July 9 | Shout outs to...

Ah, so ape escape not world record. 1:29:45 is the record and their slower clock said 1:29:30

SOTN WR denied?

Based on what I'm reading it was about 8 seconds slow per hour, so the actual time is probably 5 seconds longer than what was stated.

EDIT: Actually seeing conflicting numbers, some alleging it was losing seconds per minute. So yeah, hard to call until the techs retime the run.

Some of the big jumps are legit easier to do than the stage itself.

Super Monkey Ball Deluxe is always a damn good time.
Just FYI: apparently the game timer they've been using ran slower than realtime, thus every run prior to Super Monkey Ball (when the timer was fixed) is showing less time than what has actually elapsed. They are going back and manually retiming some of the previous runs.

Damn, that sucks.

Monkey Ball games always make for good speedruns, but I think I've seen enough of them at this point. The series could use a break at these events.

I am timing the SOTN run now.

5 mins in, and the SGDQ timer is behind around 4 seconds.

Edit: SGDQ timer was 32:59, my stopwatch was 33:30 so no new World Record.

Still an excellent run, thoroughly enjoyed it.

I love watching runs of classic PC games and therefore really enjoyed MDK. An unique game to this day. It's a shame that there was nobody in the audience :( Everybody else just wants to watch Mario for the 1000th time.

MDK was streamed in the middle of the night, right? It's unfortunate that soe game are played with virtually no audience, but that's kinda the nature of the doing a 24/7 event

Yeah, Monkey Ball is such a great speed game, always love seeing any of them run.

This however, is absurd.

I know it's for chairty, but sometimes GDQ gives off such Mickey Mouse, ramshackle, podunk vibes.

Yep and I know that it's reasonable to give MDK that timeslot. It's an innovative niche PC game from 1997 after all. I just feel bad for the runners a little bit because I enjoy those runs. and would love a bigger crowd. But I too have to resort to VODs because of work and the different timezone.

The official Discord chat is pretty chill with actual conversations, if you don't want to join the Twitch emote spam.

I'm not sure what people expect out of a chat with tens of thousands of viewers

Yeah lol. It's the reason I watch the German restream. Just over 2k viewers and thus the chat moves slow enough for conversation being possible in chat and commentators being able to interact with the chat. Also has a way stricter moderation than the main chat.

Yay, Sonic block.

Really digging the Freedom Planet run so far. I hope the guy doing commentary can keep it up all the way through.

Regarding Twitch chat, AGDQ 2016 was my first one and I actually kinda liked the chat back then. It was obviously spammy af but I feel like it's gotten way worse in this short period of time.

Yup, always better to have someone basically shoutcasting when the run is fast and technical :D gives the runner more focus too as they dont have to talk

This commentator is the GOAT!!!!
He reminds me of stuey from Family Guy or something, hell of a villainous voice.

Yeah, couch guy is doing a great job. allowing the runner to focus, and being super informative and most importantly, he is EXCITED
