Sunset Overdrive |OT| It's Always Sunny in the Apocalypse

Okay, can someone back me up, and say that the "Weapon Challenge #1 - Charge Beam" is just badly designed? I've been playing this challenge for over an hour, and it it litterally all depending on where the enemies spawn, and if they spawn in a pile. I've gotten in the 140K's a handful of times, but not 150K (which is what I need to hit Gold). It is getting pretty annoying now after an hour.

Or am I missing something. Every other 40 challenges I've done so far haven't been this difficult. Pleas tell me I'm missing something.

The overamp that makes it so that you get to style 3++ very very easily help a ton with those challenges.

Yeah, it's annoying. I managed to do it on my 4th or 5th try by putting the Twist of Fate amp on it and getting lucky with activations. I'm not sure how I ever would have done it without that.

I don't quite understand the "Chaos" points. In one match, it was fairly low, then all of a sudden the game throws activities with super high chaos, to the point where we just straight up lose in the night defense.

It depends on the area of the world. If you play Chaos Squad in area 1, you are going to get much lower chaos than if you play in area 4.

No, it's a weapon amp. The one where kills have a chance to trigger a nuclear explosion. It helps get multi-kills which is something that's hard to do with the Charge Beam.

Wouldn't I need to own the Charge Beam in order to put the amp on? I don't want to spend 100,000 Overcharge on it just to get Gold on a mission...

Ah, yeah you do. I had already bought it by that point.

Not sure what to suggest then. If you can manage to get a bunch of OD to swarm you after you hit style level 3 then the Fi-Yah! amp might help, the one that spits out fire whenever you grind. It's just a bit harder on that challenge because it's such a wide open space.

Do you happen to know where that challenge is located?

I have the same style. Two toned 'fro for the motherfucking win!

You betta stan!!!

But that badonkadonk.

What you call "thick" female is pretty well proportioned to me.

Ummhmm Amen!

It looks like you did your best to make a Beyonce look-a-like lol Thought of her instantly when I saw your character.

Wait! I need to see this!

I am loving the game, the only thing I am confused on is the whole amp system ... like equipping weapons, buying the upgrades.. I am confused

to be honest, I hardly messed with that stuff at all and I almost have all the achievements in the game. Only time I actively got certain amps and what not was when I was going for that achievement for beating the QA teams score

R&C: ToD was one of my favorite PS3 games and I get those vibes playing this game. I think you'll love it as I am loving it, it might be one of the most pure fun single player games I've played in the last 3-4 years.

Yeah it didn't look like a ratchet game but it really reminded me of those great games in practice, reminded me they had the traversal element sections for example, and the weapons are awesome esp with the right amps

This thread is making me feel good about my decision to buy an Xbox one for now and the Sunset Overdrive. Love the customization. Can't wait to play.

Just finished the story at 18 hours and 30 minutes.

Holy damn Insomniac, that was pure cheery, explosive fun all the way through. Its got the sandbox funhouse traversal-trick playground fun of a sprawling open world, but with missions that are completely focused and never fail to surprise or crack a smile. For a brand new series on next gen consoles this thing is polished and confident, and knows what it is and maybe more importantly what it isn't, and you can see the love and detail and time and effort and meta-commentary and wise-cracks put into every corner of it.

Just stellar stuff.

Looking forward to switching my player around and jumping in for the missions and collectibles I missed, and might give Chaos mode a try at some point.

man...it took a miracle to get 150 chaos achievement on the first chaos squad thing. The later ones are going to be crazy, especially since I read that most of them are luck based on getting the chaos u need...

I haven't played R&C since the PS2 era and this game brought back memories. I'm really loving the game. The pop cultural references, the weapons and specially the traversal. I've never had fun playing single player for quite some while. Good job Insomniac!

Man, the set pieces in this game are insane. I just did the amusement park maxi boss battle, followed by the boat escort mission( a lot harder than I expected) then the hero mission where I had to save the troop and Sam.

Everything about those 3 sequences just flowed perfectly together. The traversal, the non stop action. It was awesome

Also I learned that the AK-FU is a piece of crap. It does basically no damage. d rather shoot my roman candle. And I wish I would've known sooner that the boomerang gun is great against fizzco bots. Would've made my life a lot easier during the first 2 parts of the hero mission( I found it out before the tank bot)

Just met the
LARPers
and the game is definitely more fun. Air dash seriously made quite a difference for making the game more enjoyable to play.

So, any tips for Downtown night defense on Chaos Squad? I've only won it once out of like 6 tries and we didn't have the chaos for the achievement.

It just seems impossible with the 1625 chaos. Even with nonstop explosions they're still managing to take overcharge from the vats.

I actually just did it lol. do NOT focus on the flying enemies, they will be annoying for sure, but they do not do anything to the vats. Focus on the normal OD's, then the herkers if they get in the way, and dont even bother with the flying enemies. My team was pretty competent, and it really does all just come down to that lol. We had about two people at each entrance to the place. The enemies only broke through in the last wave. It got a little scary towards the end with just how many enemies were getting through, but we ended with over 20 overcharge left. I also have all my stuff at level 5, so that helps

Hmm, either your group must be godly or the ones I'm in just have a lot of dead weight. Typically do fine until the last wave and then it just goes to hell.

What traps did you guys use? Pyro and Tesla seem like the best but maybe there are better ones to use.

yeah, i didnt even know them. They were just randoms and nobody was talking. We had some mind reading going on lol. I saw a couple of them using the turret traps, idk what they are called for sure. I mostly just using the pyro and the hack n slay

I think I'm stuck.

Am doing the AwesomeSmithing mission
to acquire a mighty sword
, and the first objective is to clear the area of Fizzco security. I've been destroying the unholy shit out of every robot the game has tossed my way for the past half hour or so - and they just keep coming in pairs of two. I destroy them, two more come.I destroy those, two more drop in, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and on, and you get the picture.

Is there some hidden objective? I've certainly been taking out every enemy in the area, across all floors. I'm kindof used to the place and while I'm armed and dangerous enough to do this all day, I've kind of been doing this all day now.

Is my mission fubar'd in an endless loop? Or is there something I'm missing?

I literally just spent an hour doing this. Didn't know what was going on. Died and I was still having the same problem.

Going to completely close the game and try it again (later on; I'm tired lol).

It's a glitch, happened to me as well though it fixed when I died.

got all the achievements, I absolutely loved this game. Really looking forward to the dlc. This was probably my favorite current gen game overall so far
