Switch 2 First Party Physical Game Prices: €90/$80 for Mario Kart and €80/$70 for Donkey Kong

DOA

Only the most rabid fans will buy this. This is not a cheap mass market console like the first one. $80 for new games? I thought Sony was the arrogant one.

They have completely lost their minds. I've never pirated a Switch game in my life and I have plenty of full price digital games. If I buy the new console it's not going to be by paying those abusive prices...

Nintendo doing good work for Rockstar to justify 100 bucks for GTA 6. I have to say, I would pick several other companies to try that price first, but they're big enough and their fanbase is devoted enough to end up successful... unfortunately.

Now I see why they wanted to clamp down on emulation. Nobody in their right mind should pay that price for a Nintendo game. They're really putting Nintendo fanboys to the test here.

Have they said how much the Nintendo Switch 2 Edition Upgrade Packs will be, like for Kirby and the Forgotten Land?

This is legit, 90 euros for a physical copy of Mario Kart? 80 euros digitally?

Holy shit if true. They are really trying to test the limits of how much Nintendo fans are willing to tolerate.

This Christmas parents are going to give their kids a PS5 because they got sticker shock from seeing how much Nintendo games cost.

AYAAAAAAAAOOOOOOOOO

I'm out, fuck you Nintendo. I'll still buy one for my nephew's Christmas (and because it will be my sister who buys the games HAHAHA I'm evil)

Who would have thought that Nintendo would be the first to charge $80 for a game. I can't believe it.

I really enjoyed the direct but this has just killed my enthusiasm.

I was ready to buy a Nintendo console after skipping the switch, now might as well buy a steam deck, what I pay more of Hardware, I save in games.

in Nintendo's defence, their physical releases actually use relatively expensive hardware and not just blurays that cost a few cents.

but the digital prices are way too high

yes, on their official spanish website those are the exact numbers. They really went bonkers.

Fuck this

I can't see even the most diehard fan defending this. Nintendo fans won't be able to save Nintendo on brand loyalty alone. Look at what happened with the Wii U.

Nintendo needs the general public, families with young children etc. Unfortunately at those prices I can't imagine they'll be many takers.

Just FYI this is going to happen everywhere, the whole world economy is in shambles Nintendo is just the first to put it on a cover, you can thank a certain carrot colored clown for that.

Customers don't care that carts are more expensive than discs. 90 euro for a physical Nintendo game is outrageously expensive considering physical Switch 1 games from Nintendo cost 60 euro. That's an insane price bump.

Fuck Tariffs.

$80?? That better be for like 1 or 2 certain games bc if that's a standard holy shit software sales are about to plummet

$80??? Ouch.

Inflation is here. to be fair... they underprice their big games. So high quality. I bought TotK for $70 without blinking.

Lmfao if true. Physical being more expensive than Digital is also pure bullshit.

People were harping on and on about Sony being greedy at the beginning of this gen too while Nintendo flies under the radar.

The praise I'm seeing for Nintendo after this event has once again affirmed to me that the internet is not real.

80-90 dollar physical games and a console weaker in many ways than the ps4... for 450 dollars? You can tell that Nintendo is taking the piss because this thing is 330 in Japan, where they need it to sell from day 1.

This is beyond the pale for pricing and the internet should come for Nintendo way harder than it came for sony on the PS5 Pro, where the pricing actually made sense...
