Where does this come from?!?!

ATI is king when it comes to low power consumption video cards for their mobile lineup. I'm actually sick of repeatedly posting this link: http://ati.com/products/mobile.html since I know that it'll be overlooked every time.

Sorry I thought I read something about ATI confirming Hollywood won't be as fast as Xenos or RSX? I was talking specifically about raw power, but I very much appreciate your info, thanks.

Here's the thing that pisses me off. You have jaded bitches roaming these boards, and many like these, who's whole goal in life, is to try and piss off Nintendo fans. Why? Who the fuck knows, and frankly I don't care anymore.

They take tiny snippets of things Nintendo said, or try and use the DS, and it's crap hardware as a basis for the Revolution(Not to mention the systems size) They often overlook the HUGE potential for the dual screens(Touch) and focus on the power, becuase it's what they pieces of crap do. Bitch, piss, and moan about Nintendo.

Give it a rest already. WE KNOW YOU LOVE THE 360/PS3. Buy it, and be happy with the SAME GAMES, with better graphics. over 20 years of playing the same game, with prettier graphics is enough for ME. That's why I am excited, and hope that Nintendo does something as different, and as bold as what they did with the DS.

As for the graphics part of it, Nintendo has always delivered, and have MORE then enough money to compete with both Microsoft, and Sony when it comes to R&D. That's a fact. People act as if Nintendo can't take them head on. When the FUCK did that ever become the case?

You don't like Nintendo? Fine. Just shut the fuck up already, and let those of us who DO talk about it, without you asshats coming in and making smart-ass comments.

All I know, is that every single one of you monkey-dicks who have bagged on Nintendo, for this and that, better PRAY that the Revolution is indeed some chunk of shit, becuase If I know these boards as good as I think I do, and Nintendo delivers some kick-ass machine, you'll NEVER, EVER live it down here.

Holy shit.

I'm just sick of everyone bagging Nintendo, for no reason.
You'll never escape the wankers, it's a sad fact of life.

Sometimes I don't understand why people bother to do it. It's not like it is getting at the company themselves, just annoying the silly people that buy it all.

I'll probably be flamed but let's put some things together:
-it's refered to as an inferface, not just a controller
-the controller seems pretty basic according to Teddman, King Dea & others
-yet Miyamoto says the interface is the "big gun"
-the controller is going to use WiFi...why not WaveBird wireless...maybe 'cos the controller requires something like WiFi to perform it's "revolutionary" function
-graphics on this machine focused on 480p while others are boasting the "HD era"
-heavy emphesis on pointing out that the Revolution is small, quiet & low power consuming (terms often used when describing a mobile device)
-one of the first things we learned about the Revolution was it's ability to hook up to a TV as well as a PC monitor
-rumors suggesting Nintendo wants to wirelessly output to multiple screens (my own theory: maybe the possibility of outputting to a new GameBoy screen even)
-Nintendo has been very quiet on the prospect of a new GameBoy though
-S-E Wada talking of Revolution being a system that transends a home console or portable
-to merge Nintendo's successful GameBoy line with their struggling console line would be a revolutionary paridigm shift
-Iwata's comments about breaking the ideals of holding a controller tied to the system tied to a TV...this still really makes no sense unless he's applying the idea of wireless into a psuedo home/mobile game system
-Nintendo did have a "beautiful" GCN LCD in developement, but then suddenly it was no more...maybe that was applied to a possible Revolution screen...the Revolution is about the size of a portable DVD player as is, with a nice LCD it could even double as a portable DVD player as well as portable gaming system

Then Nintendo said it was like a puzzle and that we should put the peices together. Revolution Deck + LCD + Controller = puzzle peices that come together that create an all new experience...a next generation console that doubles as a mobile gaming device as well. Not like PSone, more thought out. Put the screen on top of the controller while the media & "brains" of the system communicate wirelessly from the deck.

I had this theory a while back and called it the "discman + headphones" theory...the handheld controller w/ screen would be the "headphones" while the Revo;ution deck would be packed away in a case or backpak acting as the "discman" for the "headphones".

How can what you saw possibly relate to what they've been talking about?

From a hundred interviews across a hundred publications, they've been dropping hints, implying indirectly and sometimes directly that the controller is the revolution.

In fact, the only possible way I can see this being true without them being out right liars(And therefore doomed..DOOMED) is if they were not being very litteral, as they said 'Control interface' rather than 'Controller'.. Perhaps there's a second interface that is totally unique and awe inspiring.

Some kind of matrix, metal plug in the back of the head shit...some kind of "Press this button to learn kung-fu" shit..

Very good theory IMO. I was very inclined to think this is it, or something along those lines. However, knowing Nintendo, I wonder how that would make the system more appealing than a handheld other than in a graphical sense, also that would kind of get in the way of their handheld business. Unless they're planning to flee from it I don't see them turning Revolution into yet another handheld.

He did say he thought that the Revolution would be slightly less powerful than 360 and PS3. I don't think he was holding anything back.

thats not too bad actually. not if its tiny, cheap, and has some unique games. much better than 'much less powerful than 360/ps3'

Is that a mock up based on teddman's description? I really don't like the d-pad having the best real estate on the controller. And what are thoe two nubs on the top of the contoller? By the look of things, 360 and Rev will have very similair controllers.

Wow. This is a textbook "protect the hive!" reaction. Actually scares me a bit really, I can see Nintendo Suicide Bombers trying to take out Playstation 4 Factories, in the future.

Its just a games company. I don't know whether you were bullied as kids and so all this ragging on the less powerful console for next-gen awakens painful memories for you, but Nintendo themselves have told you theyre not competing with MS or Sony on graphics and power. ATI, makers of the chip, say that it wont be compareable to the X360 and PS3.

All this shit talking, is it really worth it? In the 'very slim' chance that Nintendo does reveal a weaker system with very few innovations, is it really worth the shame of having to look back on these angry words and eat them back up?

Its ... its okay. Everythings gonna be okay. Just, stop crying? Please? Gets me all teary myself!

We've been thinking all this nonsense about a new and different way to control games was referring to the acctual controller we'd be using in our hands, but in fact the controller is going to just end up being your standard hand held controller. So with that the case, what else could you use to interact with a game? Voice recognition is all I can come up with now... either that, or some form of genetalia controller (one can dream).

I can't wait to see how much power ATi and IBM are able to put into the Revolution's small footprint. ATi's been doing exciting things on the mobile side, so I suspect Revolution will not suffer as significantly as others predict.

Who's talking about a weak system? Sure they make it as strong as an small and affordable system can be, but I think it will be clearly weaker than ps3 and not stronger than xbox360.
It will probably be next gens PS2.

Am I supposed to be laughing? If not I think you just have a bad image of some Nintendo fanboys or something, or is just trying to convey a bad image of them. I haven't seen anyone crying, just protesting at best but hardly crying. I like Nintendo, but I was a fan of the Dreamcast and I didn't feel so bad about it when it died, a year later I bought my PS2 and have enjoyed it ever since. There's no need for you to be such a drama queen.

Uh, let's not get into probabilities shall we? Cause if we actually take into account the things that made the PS2 the leader this gen(GTA, hype, DVD, brand, support, headstart etc), the Rev has arguably none.

Nintendo gets mocked because it's funny. It's funny when an industry giant like nintendo brings out mario party 9, mario golf 4, mario baseball, soccer, dance, tennis, et fucking all. Everything except the mario games that we loved when we were 6.

Funny how often Nintendo gets bashed for making endles non-Mario games starring Mario, but so rarely (by comparison) gets criticized for NOT making any real Mario games. It warms my heart to see them together.

Once upon a time, they could claim artistic vision: they don't make sequels until they have a compelling new design, or hardware advances allow new things. But with several so-so sequels out this gen, that's a thin excuse now. The only defense I can think of is that most of those sequels weren't in-house--but they were still officially okayed.

If we have to wait for them to figure out some way of making Mario 128 as world-stopping as Super Mario Bros and Mario 64 were, there may never be another Mario game.

i think it's 'the chain's as strong as its weakest link', with all die hard fanboys, but nintendo's are seen as the worst because their market share is declining.

however, imo, the main reason there is such resentment towards nintendo on message boards is because people feel their gaming is threatened. the possibility some people playing existing games, like mgs3, tony hawk, res evil 4, burnout, gta:sa, halo 2, wind waker, gran turismo 4, mario kart dd, final fantasy, etc, may be thinking 'you know what, the graphics are changing but the games are pretty much the same', and actually like what revolution has to offer, could challenge gaming as we know it. so the fear is, current videogames replaced with non-games, which creates anger.

it's the reason there's so much hate directed towards the ds's success in japan, moreso, because new software on the ds is selling incredibly well.

i'm excited about revolution because i want to play something different, and want innovation in the kinds of games we're currently playing. nintendo has said revolution will do this, and considering i love the ds, i believe them.

as for what revolution will be, i'm gonna wait for official announcements before i take anything as definite.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but Nintendo never talked about "revolutionary" controls or a "revolutionary" controller. They just said it was innovative and new. I think people are saying "revolutionary" because it's called Nintendo Revolution and get confused. So if it doesn't turn out "revolutionary", don't blame Nintendo. [/damage control]

I'd like to see a quote where Miyamoto or Iwata (Not Reggie or George since they're PR guys and know hardly anything about it) where they explicitly say "revolutionary controller" or something similar.

wtf? Nintendo called it revolutionin the first place, we have any reason to believe it should be something completely different.

The name doesn't necessarily describe it, it's a code-name, and it's there to make people excited and it might be called Revolution to let people know that this is Nintendo's step in a different direction. I just want to know if Nintendo ever spoke of "revolutionary controls".

I think I mainly see Nintendo fans as the worst of the bunch after reading the comments section at 1up on the RE5 announcement, with some pretty terrorfying "TRAITORS! BACKSTABBERS! CAPCOM MUST DIE!" shit.

Okay anyway, this is going to be a tangent, but since so many of you are asking "what other ways are there to interact, other than the controller", here is my take.

This is what Nintendo would have to have made for me to believe in their Revolutions, and thats a massive focus on User Made Content. Game devs are really getting on board the whole User Made Content wagon, and recognising its power to prolong the life of their games by letting the fans make what they want, and what better fans than Nintendo ones?

So what I'd like to see, but almost totally assuredly won't, is a far superior version of Graffiti Kingdoms player/creature creation system. The applications for Nintendo games would be massive. Design your own minigames or short platformer games with your 3d animated character, Your own creature designs as Pokemon, your own designed fighter in Smash Bros, Your own characters and karts in Mario Kart. Then as someone said a while back in a Double Dash post, a Battle Arena Map Editor just seems like perfect sense. Player created content is an excellent way of extending a games life, and many developers are beginning to realise this.

What would be a true Revolution, even meaning to the word, would be giving the Gamer themself the chance to realy create and make the game their own.

Thats what I would do if I was Iwata and trying to move away from 'the other 2', but to be honest the X360 is probably a better platform, with its 'player created content' being able to sell on Live. Those japanese Graffiti Kingdom masters would make a fair bit of cash off of selling their incredible creations online.

I'd rather that than a controller to wave about and look like a spastic.

And I say, what about EA? You have these stupid sheep, purchasing the SAME GAME, over and over and over, every year. Capcom? Countless Resident Evil's, already 3Viewtifull joes(DS) Every company uses it's franchises again, becuase people like them. Nintendo using Mario, ALOT, is becuase he's the most popular videogame charactor ever.

I'm not a fan of whoring, but let's be realistic. Everyone does it. If Capcom had a mascot as popular as Mario, it would be HELL ON EARTH.

At least these Mario games are good(Tennis is great) But it does piss me off that Nintendo won't make a new Mario game, save for every 5 years it seems.

That part I do agree with wholeheartedly. I just think no one has the stable of videgame charactors that Nintendo does, so they can't do what Nintendo does, otherwise they would.

*Screw Mario DDR though. That's overboard*

Nintendo is also fucked in the minds of the Nhaters.

And some of the Nhaters are inside the Nintenfans army, they blame Nintendo every time that them doesn´t make the nirvana of the videogames.

The example is that a lot of shit against a lot of games developed by Nintendo this gen are from Nintenfans mouth.

No. Nintendo gets mocked because their fans are fucking bat shit insane lunatics. After years and years of reading their garbage, people just love giving it back and watching them freak out.

I kind of enjoy it myself.

Really, how many Mega Man games are there? And there has to be like 10 RE games. But I do admit it would be nice if Nintendo came up with some new characters for some of these titles.

I think Capcom listed 96 Mega Man games in their "top selling Capcom franchises" list earlier this year.
