TEKKEN 7 |OT| How I killed your mother

Since we're here, how do you deal with Lars pressure?

(assuming this is even actually a thing)

I'm not sure, but it felt like everything he did came out fast.
Same with me as Yoshi. Which sparked my question a couple pages back. Even wrote the person a GG message and said his Lars has fast shit lol.

Honestly, I block low a lot against Lars. He doesn't have a ton of mids at entry-level. He gets annoying with the low-high mixup, so just block low and you'll do fine.

Been toying around with Katarina in training mode, and how is this as a counter hit confirm?

1+1+2 is +7 oB so a d/f+4 is a great CH fish. Same situation for b+4 after a successful 2+2 which is +10 oH.

I love this because I can switch up between following up with damage, do a regular stomp or a low or jut do nothing if I think they're gonna try to avoid the situation by doing a side roll (which they'll mostly do).

Guys is there a list of sway characters anywhere?

I want to start practicing backdash cancels so would like to avoid sway characters initially for obvious reasons.

Seems like I won't buy the game for now, because my trusty DualShock 2 pad is not working on windows. Dunno if the pad is dead or windows is not recognizing it as it should :/. And I can't really play with my X360 pad.

Paul, Bryan, Nina.

And that's it lol?

Makes it easy enough if so.

Is that on all games or just Tekken 7? If it's just tekken 7 try checking your steam controller settings to make sure nothing weird is going on.

You say that as if avoiding A-tier is a good thing. lol. I started messing with SS1 backsway cancels last night with Nina. It isn't as hard as I thought, but I just have to get my inputs tighter to make them really effective. I mean, landing SS1 ~b~u gets you a free i13 move on block. It's crazy advantageous.

Also, I found out last night that certain characters benefit greatly by the changes to non-buffered inputs. iWS is so much easier to do in this game than it was in T6 or TTT2.

Her command grab at the wall gives you a free combo too
96 dmg if you got rage and floor break. Why is there barley any floor break stages :( her rage drive is great for those extensions

No it's also happening in windows. I have two different PS2 to USB adapters and it's happening on both. The analog sticks work but the buttons don't. And if I go into the windows controller properties there looks like all the buttons are pressed at the same time. If I press the analog button on the controller they get turned off but only for a second and then it's the same again.

I have no idea what the reason for that is.

Get gud...no but seriously, he's hard as hell to use. I'm in the same boat.

Use these resources to get an idea of how he plays

https://docs.google.com/document/d/1kYWy8Axt7oHsvltEkzyB_Ysfn0mqkNJgUrLyOPvcS14/edit

https://drunkardshade.com/2017/05/27/tekken-7-top-15-moves-for-all-characters/

http://rbnorway.org/steve-t7-frames/

He really doesnt have any "free" easy to use damage moves or launchers so you have to rely completely on outplaying your opponent.

Also get used to transitioning into Flicker stance or Peekaboo from d/f+1, 2 or f, 2, 1 alot. Keep in mind these strings arent really safe. B+1 into Flicker is good as well. But easy to duck under for the opponent.

His lows are ass so people dont really have to respect them meaning you have to hope on them pressing buttons between your strings. Good luck.

Are you playing on pc?, by any chance?

Oh ok.

That said, I'm also discovering how good randomly ducking and then going to a while rising launcher is.

There's a lot more highs in this game that you can duck under than I thought >_>

What are the safest easiest characters for Newbies to play in Tekken?

I am playing as Hwoarang right now
lol, Hwoarang is definitely one of the most complex characters in the game.

Katarina, Shaheen and Lars are characters that I'd consider very beginner friendly, Katarina also has a low execution requirement too!

So I checked the frame data and Paul Launcher is 15 frame startup and I'm mashing it on +3, so I still lose to mashed 10 frame jab.

Pls

Need to find the damn button I actually push after +3 on block lol

I just picked who I liked the most, that happened to be Dargunov.

Not sure if he is easy or intermediate, but he isn't too overwhelming. I enjoy using him the most.

You know, I think I appreciate the one fight character story battles, but I wish there was a cutscene before and after to add more meat since they skimped on proper endings. Couldn't have been that hard to animate their bios.

Cool, I am gonna try out Shaheen next.

No, I appreciate it. I haven't read or actively searched this kind of material for Yoshi (or anyone really) since way back in T5 when I still frequented and participated at TZ.

Thank you.

So am I incorrect in my observation that flash has a smaller window of effectiveness?

Kind of. The default "sword equipped stance" (1SS) flash is 6 frames and is -15 (launch punishable) on block. It has a smaller hitbox so the enemy has to be closer to you than the other one.

"No sword stance" (NSS) is 8 frames and is -15 to -16 on block (also launch punishable). It has a beefier, larger hitbox so it's harder to avoid in close quarters.

Basically, 1SS flash is used when you think they're about to attack you/move in close to you. Generally it's the one you use in frame traps.

NSS flash is used more offensively, as in you can run up and do it. It's also more effective as an anti-air against Akuma when he jumps/demon flips at you, as well as snuffing characters out of stances when they're close by.

He has almost nothing that's plus on block, I think running 3 is the only thing. Block then punch him in the titties

Interesting. Thanks again.

Any links or tips on how to incorporate T7's new systems would be much appreciated. I'm running basic T6/TTT2 bnb combos. I keep seeing mention of tail spins. I'm not sure how they're used or even what moves lead to it etc (again, I'm lazy with practice mode).

And rage drives. Not even sure when to use them or why etc. I wish they came out with a guide =/.

Crazy how far we've gone technically:

Haven't been able to connect to a single online match since I got it. I LOVE tekken but super pissed I spent money on this and can't return it right now.

I'm new to Tekken so I might be wrong here.

But I feel like you can learn how to play "Tekken" with almost every character. Maybe with the exception of a character like Steve, a HEAVILY specialized character with a different moveset as compared to everyone else.

The thing about games like Street Fighter is that learning how to play Gief does NOT teach you how to play Dhalsim. Playing Ryu does not teach you how to play Guile and playing Guile does not teach you how to play Cammy. Those games are heavily matchup dependent.

But if you know how to play one character in Tekken, then most if not all of your fundamentals will carry over to almost the entire cast. A lot similar to King of Fighters in this regard. When it's said that a character is good for beginners, it's mainly because they don't require much execution and it's generally easier to get good with them as compared to others.

Mishima characters require strict execution to maximize their potential and focusing so much on being able to do the moves means you're not really spending time learning on HOW and WHEN you should be doing moves.

Again, If I got anything wrong then feel free to correct.

Because training mode doesn't let you program the AI to perform a move after guarding things, I'm not sure if +3 into Death fist CH is real or not >_>

(at least, I don't think training will let you program the AI to perform a move after they block... I can make them side step or mimmick my moves or whatever, but I just want mashed jab lol)

Tekken is indeed about the fundamentals, movement and systems. Once you have a foundation then you can play who you want. Nothing to do with the characters for the most part

The TEKKEN team is actively working on improving the Tekken 7 game experience for everybody. This is currently our top priority and we appreciate your patience. We will be releasing a number of patches in the coming days:

June 7th: We're releasing a patch for the PC version to improve security and update Denuvo. It's important for us to note that this patch was developed concurrently and did not push back the patches addressing online issues (see below).

End of the week: a PlayStation 4 patch to address online stability including matchmaking issues, and bug fixes, will be released. We'll have more detailed info to share soon about this patch.

Next week: a similar patch to the PS4 version will be released on PC and Xbox One to address online stability and bug fixes.

Stay tuned to our official channels for more info shortly, and as always, we'll keep monitoring the situation and collecting your feedback about Tekken 7. Thank you for playing!

So I tested hosting a tournament mode this morning.

Doing a 8 man lobby is a nightmare. With all the 1 - 2 bars coming you don't have the time to kick them before starting. It's an endless loop.

It's much better doing 4 players tournament, but perhaps there is something I do wrong in the options.

Won 3 ranked matches in a row after learning how to BDC and a few moves from the command list. Promoted to first Dan as well.

Law doing work. Best character for initiating air combos.

Ps4 sorry.

No lies detected.

If you're a Tekken newbie or returning after a long hiatus like myself...do not pick Steve. Unless you really reaaallly like the character and will only focus on getting good with him. I'm not winning consistently yet but I'm having a blast trying to get inputs down and understand my options for such a unique character.

I'm just now getting his duck cancels down in practice consistently but the timing is so strict idk how ill ever pull it off in a match. But I can't lie the slow progress keeps me keeping back for more.

Y'all need to add "I'm Here Now 7's remix" to both rounds of the Arena stage and watch that stage suddenly become the hypest shit ever. The song can be found in Tekken 7's soundtrack.

We talking about the same arena that shit's on everyone in attendance? That stage makes me crack up thinking of it in the real world.
