TEKKEN 7 |OT| How I killed your mother

Anyone else tried the VR mode? The movement and animation look really fluid there and much better than the usual game, which is probably because of higher framerate.
Wish I could play the whole game like that.

Was using Akuma in ranked and using his projectiles, on top of it I used the equipment Cupid Bow. Spammed the Hadouken and Bow... It felt like bullying. Looking forward to dp FADC Shotgun combo to win though. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Sardine Shooter is also quite dope.

I've been using a similar setup for characters that aren't Katarina or Kazumi. This is the first game where I'm not using the same button layout for every character, feels weird.

I don't know, still feels like a pretty good button to me.
Crimson Dawn (d/f+1) frames on block more worse, damage decreased and tracking reduced.
It could have been so much better tho

How do you do a f + button move after a dash? A lot of of Leo's combo enders require f+4 after a dash. Speaking of Leo, KNK cancels and SS in the middle of combos are supposed to be beginner friendly?

Input a forward dash, leave your stick to neutral so the character stops and then quickly do f+whatever.

Oh wait I just realised Ive been doing this with other characters the whole time. What I meant to ask was how do I connect Leo's f+4 after a deep dash? Her S! knocks them away pretty far in her bnb's.

Hype Train conductor. Works harder than it steams.
Here's a tip on what I believe is the best shoulder button mapping.

L1: 1+2
R1: 3+4
L2: 1+4
R2: 2+3

Why?
Because 1+2 is slightly closer to L1 and the same goes with R1 and 3+4. A lot of moves require both punches and kicks to be hit together, and a single button makes it easier

1+4 "point" towards L2 and the same goes for 2+3 and R2. These buttons are hard to hit on controller simultaneously and some moves require it.
Been doing this for years

Anyone have any tips on hitting those triple forward moves? It's hard for me to do it consistently and it's starting to give me hand cramps.

Josie's execution is quite simple but I'm surprised at how tricky she can be to win with. A LOT of her main strings you use start and carry on high until the last hit hits mid or whatever.

Haven't figured her out just yet.

Online is really not great yet on PS4. Last night I spent 20 minutes waiting for a ranked match. Had three "connection was lost" messages when matching, and only found one opponent. I thought that was fixed, but apparently not.

Tired of that, I found a tournament. Everything was going well until the finals when suddenly the host quit. It was really an irritating experience when I just wanted to play some matches.

And the load times are really starting to wear thin.

Asuka's new ff+1 and d/f+3 are moves that Jun wouldn't be caught dead doing. Jun is very feminine while Asuka isn't concerned at all. I love that they made the characters distinct despite using the same fighting style.

Oh, yeah, I never actually meant Asuka was a clone of Jun. That would have been great, but she's always had her own style. Even the Kazama Style moves she has didn't really feel the same as Jun in the older titles though, but for some reason in T7 I feel like her Jun moves feel more fluid or something, more like T2 Jun.

Buffer your dash during the recovery of your tailspin move aka BOK2. Leo should run. Return the stick/pad to neutral and when she gets close to the opponent do f4. Mainly it's just timing, as too soon you'll whiff and too late the combo will drop.

Edit, it also depends on your juggle filler with how long you'll have to have her run. The longer the combo before S! The farther her dash has to be.

Video's awesome, but as a Tekken beginner, even having played them all since Tekken 1, it sorta indicates what I don't like about Tekken and the high wall of entry. If you're playing by someone who knows some good combos & has good execution, you throw out a move/poke, miss and get countered/parried, and then your opponent does a 7-8 hit combo for the next few seconds and now you've lost half your HP or more.

Like when I'm playing online there's a huge difference between opponents who know combos and who don't. I'll play 5-10 people who don't know more than a 3 hit BnB and the matches are exciting and flow well with pokes and juggles and throws, not too different from VF. Then on the 11th online match I'll run into a guy who basically kills me in 2 long combos every round and it's just a lot of defensive blocking/dodging because if I miss a single attack I'm fucked. I get that this is Tekken, and not asking them to change it for low-level play; but it's just day & night between players who know these long ass combos of those who don't.

Are you using the same character? Ranks are character based.

Really? Okay that would explain it. I could have sworn I switched characters yesterday and maintained it. Oh well.

EDIT: I think I'm getting confused because the profile icon in the main menu's upper right corner still shows my highest rank
