I might pick up a stick. Is the TvC one any good? It got a price drop at Gamestop.

Edit: ugh, never mind. The store closest to me that has one is 25 miles away.
Edit 2: More ugh. Just learned the stick can't even connect to a PS3 without an adapter. Why the hell would they use a wii remote to connect the fight stick? There are freakin USB ports on the Wii for a reason. :/
Does Dungeon Fighter Online count?

Never heard of it so no. lol

Nobi's reactions were just too good!

The person fixing the hair in the background is an even better reaction. Well, maybe not better but still......so nonchalant.

Just bought Tekken 6 in prep for Tag. Boy am I bad at this game. Gonna take some time to learn block timing and combos/set-ups, but I'm enjoying it! Been trying to learn my buttons and strings with Lili. Feels weird to play Tekken on an Arcade stick after spending so much of my childhood on a Playstation controller, but I like it so far!

Movement is everything.
And I haven't tried out sticks myself but I think the general consensus is that Tekken plays better with pad.

Noticed that when Devil Jin stomped me out the first time. I'll spend some time in the lab with movement stuff this week, too. The OP has been really helpful too.

And I can't justify using a pad after I made the investment on the stick last year.

Movement is everything... and it honestly is easier with a pad.

For fun I was trying to pick up a new character last week. And I chose Baek randomly. And since it was almost a brand new character for since I had no clue which moves led to his cancels and what not, I started fresh with a pad. Within an hour I could do a good majority of his FLA cancels from 4,3,3~f and d+3,3~f during juggles. The next day I tried it again with stick and I was honestly having a much harder time adjusting since returning the stick the neutral between dashes and getting the juggle down took so much more dexterity than simply leaving the dpad on a pad.

But then again, being an Armor King player it definitely feels more naturally to play on stick with his crouch dash's and giant swing motions, hence I persevere with using the stick.

So in the end, it depends on preference and the character you're using. Don't play just to justify your purchase, play whichever comes more natural to you.

Let us know if you have any other questions :)

Even with my competition being mostly in Japanese arcades I still find myself preferring pad over the stick I bought a while back.

Old habits I guess.

I've always been a die-hard pad player, but I'm interested in the Hitbox controller. Guy at a meetup let me try his, and the weird directional setup clicked pretty quickly.

Actually, yeah Aris mentioned this earlier on his youtube channel that Hitbox has a significant advantage over all other controllers. He mentioned that Just Frames become significantly easier to do like Kazuya's d/+2 CH into EWGF juggle to the extent where he felt that they should be banned since it's the equivalent of going into a boxing match with extra weight on your gloves. I sorta disagree with him on that part since the actual inputs aren't done for you... but it does speak volumes of its viability in a competitive environment.

Personally, I don't opt for a hitbox since it just feels too monotonous compared to an arcade stick or pad. I don't know how to describe it but it just feels too mechanical and un-fulfilling keeping your entire hand in that stationary position with no wrist movement.

Thanks for the advice guys, greatly greatly greatly appreciated. Played at a friends house on a pad yesterday night and the movement did feel more fluid. So I think I'll play around with both and see how i feel in a week or 2

We're playing Tekken. If anyone else wants to join, there is space for one more person.

Good Luck!

I think one problem is that I'm not satisfied without going for two u+1+2's in a row. We go straight to Hard difficulty with characters we barely know. gaf warriors.

Once you get the bound, go for b+3,2,2 to end the combo.

Will have to try that in the next match. Thanks!

Edit: I can't do it in the combo. Damn. :/

Edit 2: Well, good games everyone. Really glad there were zero disconnects and minimal lag.

27 win streak? How the hell does that happen.

Anyways I just got around to cleaning all the documents I had in my hard drive and I seem to have a lot of Tekken stuff lying around that's taking up space that has to go but there might be some decent info in there. Mind If I dump it here?

Well.... there were a lot of close games that could've broken streak and the loss could've definitely have been attributed to the lag and rage comebacks... But regardless, the man is a beast. His command of the space between you and him makes everything you do seem risky. And when I try to turtle instead his rushdown tactics are no joke either. Friggin Nina/Anna SS cancels!!!

+This thread is home to anything Tekken. Dump AWAY! BTW FW, you being an Australian player, have you ever met St. George from TZ.com? I just caught wind of his and ZerotheShadow's little rivalry and it's pretty entertaining.

Ahahahahaa oh man that little rivalry thing is just to entertaining to not follow, even though it's terrible ZtS continually insists on digging his own grave.

I'm in Melbourne and St George is in Sydney (They have the stronger Tekken community D:) so nah I haven't met him yet. He wasn't at this year's SS (So I didn't get the chance to meet or play him in person) because I believe he was over at Korea battling Nin and several other notable names at the time.

Hey, I'm not that good.
Would probably get my ass kicked if I went to some major tourney. I used to be garbage in this game. Plus, I got demoted from Vanquisher down to Marauder in a matter of two weeks, lol. Now trying to work my way back up. But thanks. :)

Nice FIND FW! Tweet that to Aris, he'll be giddy like never before.

I'm down for some games as well in around 20 minutes

And now, all of a sudden, the online is acting up. :/

Well, I suppose I jinxed it with my talk about zero disconnects. GGS anyway.

hey BestGAF: Back to the subject of pads, check this 360 mod out:

Most notably, the 360 controller's terrible D-pad is replaced by actual buttons. I think it looks solid for fighting games because that's as precise as directional inputs can get. It seems like the Dualshock's D-pad is basically trying to imitate what this one manages to be. I just want a second opinion before I drop the money for it.

Looks sick! Mostly all my gaming is dedicated to fighters so it would be worth it if I was playing 360 exclusively. Although I am curious how qcf/qcb attacks would be performed and differentiated from d/b, d/f attacks since each directional input is an individual button. Would a person just slide the thumb on the buttons the same way its done on a d-pad?

Apparently everything works the same way, just more efficiently. I figure that if you mean to block low, you're either pressing back/down on this thing or you aren't. No accidents.

The funny thing is that I don't even have a 360; I just buy 360 pads for local play at the moment

("at the moment" meaning for the past, like, year and a half)

Magnet link for next Busters episode!

As for that controller, I'd say get some impressions from people that have actually bought it. People thought the transformable dpad for Xbox was going to be a godsend but it was so brittle.
I never had an issue with the durability of that silver controller, but its D-pad wasn't that much better than the regular one.

The reviews are positive but they don't say too much about fighting games other than basic stuff like "hadokens are easier"

Anyway, thanks for the input, guys. It's just a thought; I dunno. Same with the Hitbox controller

Wish I went to local play tournaments and stuff but I don't think there's anything near me. :/
