It's been about 5.5 hours and no email yet. I think it said 24 hours. I should point out also that my credit card is showing a pending $1k transaction so that's positive. :)

Ok. I was worried that there was an error in the signup. There was no confirmation number or anything when I left, so I'd hate to wait in line all day for nothing. Luckily I also see the $1K deposit on my credit card, so it's clear it went through.

Got my reservation in this morning in Cincinnati. I see the $1k charge but no confirmation e-mail yet. I wouldn't stress too much about the confirmation mail. I've seen some images online that says it'll be within 24 hours

Ditto, took my money and ran!

Looks better than

Seriously?

Hey the 2016 honda fit looks good for what it is!!

I wouldn't call the model S gorgeous by any mean..but he tech is awesome..

I also think other over hyped cars are ugly ..like the GT-R....

guys, it'd be better if we didnt feed the trolls. No one in their right mind possibly thinks the fit looks better than a model s. Like c'mon son.

I wasn't even trying to troll.

I was just trying to understand the hype and have an opinion that they are boring looking.

Other people in this thread are also wondering why people are lining up for a car they haven't seen before...

Honda fit..

So because I drive a honda fit, I can't say the tesla model S is a boring looking car?

Yeah, but people have to look at you driving the eyesore that is a Honda Fit. People never think of the others they hurt.

Honda Fit is an awesome car!! I don't think it's an eyesore....

Looks like I'm in the minority here but I actually prefer the X grille to the S.

Also, I waited in line for two hours and missed work this morning to order mine. Got to work and my boss decided he wanted to reserve as well. He went in at 1:00 and there was no line. Took him like 10 minutes because it's right by my office. Oh well.

I was pretty off-line about this until I spoke to a friend today who advised me to consider it.

If I drop the 1k and, in twelve months' time, I don't think my finances/situation make it a good idea, is obtaining a refund easy/simple? That's the biggest concern for me at the moment.

Yes.

Yes, deposits are refundable. I don't really know how easy it is since I've never done it, but I would imagine you just contact Tesla and they take care of it for you.

There was a guy talking to a Tesla employee about just this and it sounded pretty simple. Honestly, if you have any interest in the car and $1k is something you don't mind departing with (it goes towards the car as well), I would say do it,

Not looking for a car right now but was just checking the charging stations map on Tesla's site and only one supercharging station in the entire DC area? Is that right?

Next closest 40 mins away (with no traffic, which does not exist here).

Teslas are pretty popular around here but that seems weird.

Most Tesla owners charge at home. Superchargers are meant for travel.

It goes 200 miles on a charge. You have to have a home charger also, so unless you want to go on a really long drive the 40 min away isn't bad at all.

edit: If you live in a apartment I would imagine this isn't for you.

Right, so take one of the most popular routes traveled by people in the DC area to the Delaware beaches. If you want to charge at some point on that trip, which is about 120 miles from DC and farther or much farther if you're in Virginia, you have to go to Salisbury to do it, which is 40 miles out of your way, and Salisbury is the only supercharger in all of DE.

For some reason I just expected many more at this time.

I think you just summed up why Tesla is going to win the EV battle. They don't treat electric cars like ugly kids toys or second class citizens. Honda could make a good looking EV, they choose not to. Same with BMW. There is no excuse for the i3 looking so fucking bad. The Bolt looks better than the i3, but it still looks shitty. Hopefully seeing todays lines wakes the other manufacturers up, but I think they are so used to sucking on the tit of oil companies that they won't learn until it is too late and Tesla/Apple/other disruptors completely eat their lunch.

Well, they got a 100 million dollar capital infusion today (of thereabouts) to start building out more locations.

People already plunked down $1k sight unseen?

Happily

The design aspect sums up why so many people are excited for the Model 3. The thing that made the Model S such a great car was not only because it had good range for an electric vehicle, but the design and performance of the car really took it to a whole new level.

Someone in the thread posted the bolt and asked why people aren't excited about that. Well I can't speak for everyone but the design alone made it an instant no in my book. The Model S, X and hopefully 3 show that electric cars don't have to look like crap.

The X would have been so much better if they had kept the same grill as the Model S..

Everytime I see this covered grill it reminds me of this for some reason;

Holy crap. I had to decide between Bellevue and Seattle, happy I chose Seattle. Our line is long but not that long.

I had forgotten how awful the layout of the Bellevue mall is, without being able to recall how the map looked specifically it always made me think of a pound sign. Always felt way too easy to lose my orientation in there :p

Looking forward to seeing how this car looks in a few hours.

Doubtful it is a hatch back. No one has seen the car yet though so we don't know.
I have a friend who claims he saw a test mule in the Bay Area. Not sure if I believe he actually did (or wasn't just confused, but it was not a hatch back

HELP AM I IN NORDSTROM OR MACYS?

DID I PARK ACROSS THE BRIDGE OR NEXT TO CRATE AND BARREL?

To be fair, the addition of a bar in Nordy's is a game changer. Best margarita on the Eastside. Of course, you're on the Eastside...

The 3 will most likely be a fastback like the S. This is the only picture that is somewhat legit, and it's almost indistinguishable from the S thanks to the sheet. We'll know soon, for sure!

Sorry I used an old picture of an ugly car instead of a new picture of an ugly car.
I like the way the Fit looks and so do a bunch of other people. But that's beyond the point. I think both the Bolt and the Model 3 will sell very well. Different tastes for different folks is what makes cars great.

I think the Bolt looks terrible, and I bought the i3 because I think it is the best looking car under 100k lol. I will admit I get an equal amount of "love it"/"hate it" reactions from people.

You don't at least like the i3 interior?

Why is this so late in the day is there going to be fireworks or something.

Seriously. I kinda figured it would make the most sense to do this early in the day to get the hype storm brewing down the daily news cycle.

Though I guess this way it will get revealed and then be talked about all the way down the day tomorrow from 6am radio talk down to the evening news.

What are your overall impressions of the i3? I was torn between it and the tesla, so i'm curious to hear first hand what you think of it.

i3 interior is pretty amazing. I wish they would sell it with matching body panels though.
