he posted that C&D likes it and you're attacking him.

you guys have fun in your $30k Tesla. i hope youre not naive enough to think it'll be anything like the tesla S, and that it'll be far better than a Bolt.

Why would you compare the $30k Tesla to the Model S and not the $30k Bolt? I hope both are successful, though I have the luxury of watching how the market plays out for the next year or two before I need a new car.

If the EPA rating is 238, reaching 250 isn't unimaginable.

I never ever want to buy a Chevy, but man it's tempting with my Leaf going on 4 years of age.

Go look at his history in this thread. He has consistently posted anything negative he can find about Tesla and or always posting something positive about the Bolt. And then almost never responds to anyones questions, responses or critiques of his post.

Why doesn't he start his own thread on the Bolt instead of trolling this and other Tesla threads?

It ran over his Bolt.

Or his dog is named Bolt.

The Bolt is an econocar hatch like the Honda Fit or Prius and the Model 3 is more of an entry-lux car like the Audi A3. There's room in the market for both. And there's nothing wrong with either, although content wise it isn't much of a contest IMO.

I think the biggest problem with the Model 3 is that it's probably not going to launch in 2017, and probably not cost just $35k. Tesla has a long history of missing both of those targets by wide margins in the past, and the 3 should be no different.

Yup. There's a New York Times article out today about the Bolt. Mentions something about beating Tesla to the punch. Got a few messages from friends mocking me about it haha. Elon will step his game up though.

It's crazy how quickly Tesla went from ahead of the curve to behind.

That being said, I doubt Chevy has any real enthusiasm for the Bolt and they are going to make like 17 of them, throw their hands up, and go back to ICE vehicles.

They're not really behind the curve if you consider the number of cars they're able to produce. The only real milestone GM is ahead in is first to production, which Tesla could have done a while ago if the goal was only to produce a handful of cars a year.

Or if they had GM's production capability.

Not to shit on Chevy at all (I actually drive a Volt and appreciate what they're doing), but I don't see 370,000+ people lining up to order the Bolt. I wouldn't call Tesla behind the curve at all, even though they'll be releasing a year later.

How many of those 370k are going to get a full refund when they realize tesla won't be making any base $35000 model 3s until 2018 or later? How many people ended up getting a $50000 model S before that trim level was removed? A few dozen?

You have inside info?

Well, maybe in the US it's like that, but you don't get a 50k model S anywhere else.

You can now receive a Model S within a few weeks of ordering. This is down from a few months of ordering. I wonder what the waiting period will be for the Model 3 for those that will order after its release.

I'm ok with waiting if I have to. Worried I won't get in on the tax rebate...

Any guesses for the wednesday event? Tesla says it's a new product.

It's not a big enough event to be a new vehicle (just a press call and then press release), so my thoughts are:

1) Autopilot 2.0 - new hardware to roll out on all new models with software slated for several months down the road.

2) New Charging - updated hardware for supercharging locations that's more autonomous (update of the snake-like prototype they showed months ago) needed for when they roll out their autonomous fleet.

3) Tesla Vision - HUD product for all vehicles that's been speculated about in the past few months.

Small correction, the HUD product is rumored to be called Tesla Glass. Their Mobileye competitor is Telsa Vision.

I think we're most likely going to get the HUD but I also think it could be something left-field like a hands free charging solution or something.

I'm going for some sort of solar panel system, due to the SolarCity acquisition.

There's an actual SolarCity product announcement on the 28th otherwise I would agree with you.

Thanks, got those two mixed up.

My money is actually on the announcement being this (Tesla Glass). Elon said it would be something unexpected and pretty much everyone is expecting autopilot 2.0, and even the new charger was something Elon tweeted out and said they were working on.

Oh wow, I just read another road test article that stated 265.

That's huge man.

I could drive to San Diego and back from Central California with that range.

Crazy. I don't think I do 260 miles a week when all is said and done.

Kinda regret getting an FR-S a few years ago, but my next car will probably be the Model 3 once it's been through a couple revisions.

Will there be a new thread for tonight's announcement? I won't be able to watch live, and I want an easy way to see the major announcements (if any) they reveal.

Since it's confirmed that it's about the model 3 i think we can keep live reactions in this thread. Once project glass is announced i can make a thread about it, since I assume it'll come to the other cars as well.
