The Acolyte Trailer Breaks Lucasfilm Records

Thanks to Star Wars fans, the trailer launch for The Acolyte has been one to remember.

Released yesterday, the trailer for The Acolyte garnered 51.3 million views in its first 24 hours. This is a new digital-only record for any Lucasfilm Disney+ series, surpassing every trailer for The Mandalorian, The Book of Boba Fett, Andor, Obi-Wan Kenobi, and Ahsoka. We’re grateful for your support, and can’t wait for you to experience the series

I have no idea how the reception has been outside of this place. But I could easily envision massive trailer views and general negative reception. The fans have always been there and would love more interesting content IMO. Saturation has never been the problem IMO. The problem has been crappy content since Disney purchased the IP IMO. If the general reaction has been negative I'd guess it's because the trailer suggests that the content will be more like post-Disney content than pre-Disney content, which is why I have no excitement for this despite the flashy lightsabers.

It's like blowing on a dying ember till you are gasping for breath, desperately hoping for it to catch flame.

Dat bad girl is cute though, too bad she us unlikely to be strutting around in skin tight latex like a proper sith :p

Even worse, this looks like something out of a Star Wars pen & paper session.
Those kind of scenes really downplay the gravitas of the Jedi, IMHO. Assuming the concept is that EVERY jedi is the hero of their own story, they really should try to represent them that way, so a group shot like that should be framed and choreographed like a big team reveal, not just a bunch of mooks about to be mowed down. Each jedi should look unique and distinctive, like the way Geddy made them in the 2D Clone Wars show from way back.

Dopest poster they've put out for anything they've made tbh.

I liked the first trailer but the concept of jedi being hunted down one by one is pretty neat. We always see them in a relative position of power when there are numbers.

Hoping they stick the landing cuz theres a good premise here.

Considering Leslye Headland was Harvey Weinstein Personal Assistant when she worked at the Weinstein Company I'd imagine she knows where the bodies are buried and finagled her silence into an unmerited career path at Disney(probably protecting some perverted bigwig) as it seems weird that Kathleen Kennedy would stick her neck out and actually want to hire her at Lucasfilm especially considering how these media companies tend to avoid hiring people even if it's potentially just bad press from guilt by association.

She also looks like impending doom in human form which I'd imagine would normally be a negative considering she's the face of their big new Star Wars I.P...

They look great au naturale ... Not quite so mammoth but C cups.

Haha, I had never seen her outside of this promotional material for the series, the trailer she looked quite buxom, lmfao. C cup is like the woman's version of guys five-incher-average joe character preset irl. Nothing exceptional or absurdly exaggerated in either direction. Good, decent roll for starting stats. It generally works for everyone. It's like the Frieza Force battle armor.

If a dudes wang grew as his body fat went up....whew, we'd all be slinging pythons :p

Granted, the ridiculous proliferation of implants has convinced folks that lean, slim women can somehow also fill a bikini top to bursting, it's nice to see a well endowed young lady with pretty natural assets that is also trim in other areas. We've swung the pendulum waaaaaay over to dump truck wide bottomed women, need to reign it in a bit.

Way off topic, but I feel like as a species we're always trying to manufacture nature in a sense. To improve upon the base qualities or features of everything. Random observation, but sometimes it feels like in an evolutionary sense, we're still chasing our tails. Vanity and avarice are the one-two punch here. Almost feels like if all the cosmetic surgery and equipment to deforest the planet quicker were reversed and all the money magically flew into a bank account, we'd be able to truly put our best minds and funds toward space or ocean exploration, more sustainable farming methods or power. We've stopped trying to make our lives better and have shifted that focus instead to making our miserable lives more tolerable with sinister commercial life-supplements.

Sure, you're practically bed ridden because you weigh 450 pounds, but at least they have that honey bacon cheeseburger at the drive thru for the next two weeks. Shit is stressful? Fix yourself up with a pack of cigarettes! (Guilty, often) Your marriage sucks? There's a vodka for that!

It's like watching monkeys using a rocket Launcher like a baseball bat. All That potential, but it will either never be realized, or accidentally wipe us all out. Neato.

I'm now kinda curious to hear the point he was trying to make, some sort of moral equivalency with "anakin blew up the death star" in relation to something in The Acolyte?

I also acknowledge that for most sub-30 (40?) year olds the OG Star Wars are some ancient movies they may have sorta watched once, but the key parts are so incorporated into popular culture there is really no need to actually see the OG films to be able to watch the PT or ST and enjoy them.

My kids, for example, can describe a LOT of Star Wars lore despite not seeing the films themselves much, but through Clone Wars, Mando, etc or a game. So entirely possible this guy thinks anakin DID blow up the Death Star (he may even know where were TWO DSs) as a semi-remembered bit from the OT but has seen the ST, mando, and Book of Fett a half dozen time sand considers himself a legit Star Wars fan.

Now watch…all this talk about the first non-binary Jedi wi the the cast and the director and then you won’t even know if from the show. The same thing happened in Elemental…they made a huge deal about a character named Lake and how they were so gay. In the movie, the guy says, “This is my cousin Lake,” and she says, “hey.” I wish the people promoting this would just shut up and just let me enjoy the show without making them more than they are.
