In gearing up to make "The Adventures of Tintin," I suspect Steven Spielberg reached down into that place inside that fueled his "Raiders of the Lost Ark." Here again is an intrepid hero involved in a nonstop series of exploits involving exotic locations, grandiose villains, planes, trains, automobiles, motorcycles, helicopters and ships at sea. It evokes Saturday afternoon serials in an age when most of the audience will never have seen one.
I was surprised by how much I enjoyed myself. Spielberg not only uses 3-D but bases his story on one of Europe's most beloved comic characters. The 3-D he pulls off, just as Scorsese did in "Hugo," because he employs it as an enhancement to 2-D instead of an attention-grabbing gimmick.
All you motherfuckers better go and see this shit! I want the sequel bad.
A sequel is guaranteed by now. The movie made 247 million so far and it´s barely out in Australia and the US. It will probably cross the 300 million mark before the new year i hope.
Not with it bombing in the states man.A sequel is guaranteed by now. The movie made 247 million so far and it´s barely out in Australia and the US. It will probably cross the 300 million mark before the new year i hope.
Studios can be fickle when it comes to observing the US market. Look at the box office of the Narnia films.

They didn't even try to market it. War Horse trailer was being played all day.Paramount always knew it wasn't going to do so well here. Why do you think they placed it in the same week as one of their biggest blockbusters of the year?
I saw this today. I enjoyed it a lot. It was pretty fantastic and I use that word not to describe its quality, but the events and the feats the characters were able to pull off.
Why didn't? I wasn't able to follow the story completely, but mostly.Captain Herrick simply tell his grandson where the treasure was
You mean Haddock? Haddock explainsThat his grandfather told him everything as his dying breath, but that Haddock was so distraught when his grandfather died that he immediately got hammered and forgot everything the old man said.
sadly boxofficetheory is predicting this won't even reach 90 million $ domestically TOTAL with final world wide total just under $400 million. the only country where this is doing really well is france and India. Sad and If it does bad business we might not see a sequel. we only had 15 people in the theatre last night for our show at 7 pm among 150 seats. the manager said MI:4 and Sherlock/GWTT was attracting a lot more people.
If MI4 attracts more people than Tintin, I do not want to live on this planet anymore.
Wait you actually thought Tintin had a chance head to head against MI4?

Can someone tell me how badly this sinks into the uncanny valley?
I'm a huge TinTin fan, but the aesthetic in the trailers seriously worries me. The realistic eyes and pores on characters with exaggerated features is bugging the absolute hell out of me, which is the same thing that kept me from enjoying much of Tangled. How bad is it, or does it end up looking alright?
Wait, you actually thought Tintin had a chance head to head against MI4?
Why? MI4 was fucking awesome, one of the best action movies I've seen in the past decade or so.

I should add some snarky comment here about the US having shitty taste, but eh.
To which someone could retort by thanking the rest of the world for making Jack Black's Gulliver's Travels a success. Still shocked by this.
Everywhere has shitty taste in movies for the most part.
Wait, Gulliver's Travels didn't bomb everywhere?
I want a noose for Christmas. Fuck this world.
$237,382,724 worldwide gross. Proof that there is no God.
man i hate the look of this movie.. it's so sterile. reminds me of polar express

looks really .. grey
This movie looked better than Avatar holy fuck.
It reminded me a lot of Uncharted 3 which is a good thing.
The one shot was the best thing I've seen this year (even better than Burj scene in MI4)
I really hope they make the sequels. Spielberg killed it this year (and I didn't even love Warhorse but holy fuck this man is a master of the craft)
Paging Sculli. This movie looked better than Avatar holy fuck.

Its Spielberg, its okay.Paging Sculli.
I have no interest in seeing this due to the advertisement. Someone said it already, but it really looks crappy(Creepy could be a better word) like the Polar Express. Probably looks great on the big screen, but didn't when I saw it on a TV.is there any doubt that MI4 is going to demolish Tintin in Box Office worldwide, not just the USA? Tom Cruise is still a big draw.

Polar Express is Simpsons S1-quality of animation compared to Tintin. Wow.Glad you enjoyed it. T-minus 2 days till I rewatch this baby. Easily the movie of the year and people comparing it to Polar Express have absolutely no clue, which is a big shame.
Go see this movie.
