Apparently the XSX version has issues not present on PS5 per DF. Avoid.

The dodge feels good enough but i hate that i have to press the stick all the way, it just feels a bit unnatural, like i have concentrate on pushing the stick the right way when normaly it should be like a second nature, it is hard to explain.GymWolf
- Does the dodge feel good after mastering it?
- Is the game super linear or more Metroidvania?
- Controlling the character feels like RE2R/TLoU or the same Dead Space, or it's a rigid unresponsive piece of shit like The Evil Within 2?
Don't give a shit about its scores personally as it's basically the same as Alien: Isolation and Days Gone which I both loved to death, but especially the last question will determine whether I'll give them €70 or not.
It's not a matter of being hard, the concept is extremely basic and when you have the concept down the 1vs1 are trivial.I just don't get all those complaints about combat. What were they, blind or something, when devs put this on the screen?
How hard is it to notice and read? What's so hard to understand here, games journalism?
At first I could't figure it out cuz I thought that dodge is based on timings, but it's not, if you see that enemy is trying to attack you, just hold stick left until attack will be completed, then attack, if you see another attack coming, just hold stick right AND THAT'S IT. It's not rocket science, games journalism! I mean, jfc. After I learned how it works I don't have problems anymore, although I haven't fought multiple enemies yet so the time will tell how it all works with multiple enemies.
Now, about performance in actual SP campaign. So, it's... how should I put it... a bit better than in benchmark? I mean, there's still a lot of stutters and sometimes cuz of the stupid thing like light turns on the locked door etc. but it's playable. Just to be sure I locked the game to native 1400p 40 in DX11, so I don't give a f about 60 until multiple patches will be released. So far it reminds me The Chronicles of Riddick and a bit of Pitch Black. Character models are very impressive (not ND level but waay better than in Gears 5), art and art design is great along with atmosphere and sound. So in terms of the actual game and the quality of it outside of performance, I've nothing bad to say at all.
He is gonna be a mutated big motherfucker boss by the end, just an hunch i have.By the way, loved seeing sam witwer in the intro. Hope he pops up often.
Just wait and see, even if you are not super fast with your melee attack when they finish, they stay there 1-2 seconds waiting for your attack, so just wait after the first one, if they stay still, then attack. So enemies can do either a single hit or a 2-hit combo. Can someone confirm if the animation for the first hit in both of those cases is the same? I'm having a hard time figuring out if I should dodge twice or not.
You use that baton like a second nature...Another GIF from my overclocked PS5:
It’s pretty easy to click with the combat I think. AND VERY SATISFYING.You use that baton like a second nature...
Don’t be afraid to die with some of the first monsters until you get the dodge system. The game normally loads right before. Test the system and it will click. Then it’s second nature.Played about an hour this morning before work. The polish on the game is apparent from the offset and the haptics on Dualsense are peak. I am having a bit of difficulty with the combat where you hold the left stick to one side then another. That might get better as time goes on. But I can easily see how the sound design, haptics and visuals will make for a treat on their own.
Skill thought it sucked.
This is what i did.Don’t be afraid to die with some of the first monsters until you get the dodge system. The game normally loads right before. Test the system and it will click. Then it’s second nature.
And that the game is too hard. And that it’s Dead Space Part IV.Are the negative reviews due to PC nerds being upset it doesn’t work that well on their 1k+ status box?
The glove changes this drastically and empowers you in that regard. You still gotta use it wisely since the use is limited in the beginning. The levels are literally filled with explosive things to grab and throw or obstacles in which you can push enemies. He is spot on when he talk about combat against multiple enemies, the game is REALLY not suited for that.
Oh, shut your trap. The stuttering makes the experience horrendous on pc and all but fucks up gameplay and jump scares. This isn't nitpicking. Check some videos instead of dismissing legitimate complaints as 'nerd' stuff. Are the negative reviews due to PC nerds being upset it doesn’t work that well on their 1k+ status box?
yeah... I have barely got 2 hours in and the refund butron on Steam is starting to rumble.
It also runs like shit despite my powerful pc - a damn shame
oh rly! damn.Shader compilation is a CPU thing, not GPU. For some unknown reason, UE4 without plug-ins don't have GPU async compute for shaders...
You will have better time than on 5600X for sure, problem is that, they could have crammed that into a loading and it would be all far better (yes it would take large portion of RAM/VRAM), but the fuck cares about that while gaming.oh rly! damn.
I'm using a 7900X for what it's worth. Should be absolutely demolishing this..
It’s funny how the big games are talked about every granular accessibility feature and we have a few critical ones here but no, let’s cry instead.I only just started, but it looks like you can alleviate most reviewer complaints within the options menu. In addition to three difficulty levels it features a lot of other stuff you can enable/disable. Auto-dodge, single button qte's or completely automated ones, snap-to auto aim, aim assist, etc.
At only an hour in I wouldn't say the combat is bad, but it is very different. Don't have a gun yet, so that is just my impressions on melee so far.
Apparently the stuttering issue is pretty significant for some. So, I think that's pretty understandable. SkillUp even addresses it in his video, really takes away from a number of things apparently. Especially scares, which I'm sure could get old pretty fast. Are the negative reviews due to PC nerds being upset it doesn’t work that well on their 1k+ status box?

It took me literally one try after their explanation to naild down how it works. It's not a matter of being hard, the concept is extremely basic and when you have the concept down the 1vs1 are trivial.
It's the fact that the game doesn't like half assed stck movement and that throw people off a bit because we are used otherway with the majority of games.
Publishers selling a product they know is broke deserves all the criticism it get
The only review that matters:
Makes sense tbh. some people prefer horror games.
You must be used to handle your stick more than me then.It took me literally one try after their explanation to naild down how it works.

Good to know, because for now the locations are not nearly big enough to really avoid enemies and dealing with one at the time. The glove changes this drastically and empowers you in that regard. You still gotta use it wisely since the use is limited in the beginning. The levels are literally filled with explosive things to grab and throw or obstacles in which you can push enemies.
Who is crying? It’s funny how the big games are talked about every granular accessibility feature and we have a few critical ones here but no, let’s cry instead.
