The E3 '08 Sony Prediction and Discussion Thread

How does that contributes to this thread, or even the ongoing discussion? Oh, that's right.

It doesn't.

It's in reply to this.

Well if they make it for Wii (which I hope they don't) they could take some guys from the main Kingdom Hearts team after Versus is done, and maybe combine them with the guys working on the handheld versions. But yeh, if Nomura wants to make a PS3 KH that will also slow down any potential FFVII: RE. It's very unlikely that a remake will actually occur imo and it definitely wont be ready for many years if they do decide to do it.

yea but basically every game not called Burnout that comes out on 360/PS3 looks better and runs better on the 360. But anyway, i figured that would be the first response. Personally? I'm not buying it. 2 years in and 360 titles from top to bottom all look, run better than their PS3 counterparts.

Anyway, yea ... I hope we see some God of War 3 gameplay. And THANK GOD it's not running on UE3 - i hate that engine

Well, they've invested enough into the white engine that I'd imagine they wouldn't want to just use it on two games.
Not to mention FFVII + FFXIII/FFVersusXIII could convince more people to get a ps3 than just FFXIII/Versus alone, thus strengthening the target demographic of the three, and boosting the sales of each.

FFVII would definitely increase sales of FFXIII/Versus.

oh I totally agree, I kinda hoped they would try it out on FF VII remake then go full force with FF XIII but i can only hope :)

I like how your constant undermining of PS3 is coupled with some obligatory : ( or some sort of fake concern that you're really concerned. It's funny.

I'm hoping for the following:

- Greatest Hits line for PS3 games
- More third parties announce support for PSN
- New PS3 colors (at least white)
- Infamous
- God of War III
- Ready at Dawn's console (PS3) project?
- Surprise PSP games

I already expect games like Resistance 2, LBP, Wipeout HD, Siren: Blood Curse, Socom Confrontation, and other games we've already seen to be shown off.

Like I called it earlier in the thread, assuming this is real, it looks like it will be officially announced at E3. :D

Also, are those red Bluray cases?

I wouldn't mind Genji 3. But doubt GR is gonna get that kind of budget to play with again :(

They probably can, seeing as how SCEI loves Okamoto and company for some reason. And Okamoto in that recent interview is also gracious of SCEI for all their support of Game Republic.

And remember Genji 2 was rushed for launch, and even Okamoto knew it didn't play well, since all they were told to focus on was graphics and to have the game ready for launch.

Why would this be done? In my mind, red cases like the ones you describe remind me of HD-DVD. Would you remind consumers of a product that you spent so much time/money/effort removing from their conscious? Judging from the picture you seem to be correct... its just a choice I don't understand.

At least in Japan it wouldn't sell well because of the paper thin walls in apartments.

I know there's some sarcasm in that post, but seriously, Japan and pretty much every other East Asian country is where Karaoke is biggest, and Singstar would be an instant phenomenon over there.

Have you even played the UT3 on PS3. Framerate is rock solid.

I don't even think he's played a PS3 let alone own one. :lol

To be fair, those red-looking cases are of a different shade than HD-DVD cases. It also matches with the fact that SCEA has always used red since PS2 GHs. Still, I expected it to be closer to PS2 GH covers rather than making the whole case red.

Valid point, but I would have rather seen the direction you suggested instead of an entirely red case... think we're splitting hairs at this point though! :lol

UT3 on 360 has better textures, better framerate and supports splitscreen play (which apparently was not possible on the Triple)
Textures are the same, both versions have solid framerate with the occasional framedrops and LOL at the last one...

Is there any chance we may see new games from Game Republic or Ready at Dawn at E3?

I'm sure we'll see what Ready At Dawn are working on at E3 either as a teaser trailer or simply as an announcement.

What's less clear however is if it's going to be PS3 exclusive funded and published by Sony or if (as recent chatter has suggested) it's a third party multi format title.

Either way I'm eager to see what they're working on.

There haz been THREE J&D game already, including Jak X and Daxter that would be FIVE, let the series take a rest and let Naughty Dog work on it to come up with something fresh, it's not good to have an IP suffering from franchise fatique.

I think he was implying that would like to see Ready At Dawn developing a new J&D game rather than Naughty Dog.

Interestingly, when Ninja Theory 'split' from SCEE one of the reasons given was NT wanted to work on a new IP and SCEE wanted them to work on a new installment of an established Sony IP.

So it would seem that Sony are trying to get new installments of their 'classic IPs' from new studios while the originators of these properties work on new IPs.

But in saying that, I imagine that Ready At Dawn are likely developing an original IP of their own rather than work on another Sony franchise after Daxter and GOW PSP.

Yeah I'm uber excited about the possibility of Uncharted 2 being unveiled. I'm longing for it as much as God of War3 :D
But unfortunately I think it won't be there... there are already many games to talk about, Naughty Dog said their were not happy about the decision to show Uncharted during E3 2006 with the game coming out at the end of 2007 because it was too early and people had doubts about the quality of the gameplay because of that. So this would be the same situation they didn't like before, E3 2008 presentation and end of 2009 release... although this time with the first game released they should be much more confident and people won't have doubts.

Let Naughty Dog work on Uncharted and Ready at Dawn on Jak and Daxter. I don't care if it plays the same, the old ones played great already, and with the superior Next Gen graphics = WIN!

I'm wondering if Namco will announce the US release of Eternal Sonata since it showed up on that UK DS3 listing...

Also, someone needs to slap SCEA into getting Dark Mist out here. Seriously, do it! >:O

I doubt Namco will bother about that, it's such a niche title, they have Soul Calibur 4, Naruto and Tekken 6 as their top PS3 games to promote this year.

I want something more than just next-gen graphics though, and J&D is really Naughty Dog's franchise even if they decide not to work on it for awhile, the problem is that Dan Arey left RAD already (he was only there briefly) so I'm not sure if anybody over at RAD can do a Jak story.

If RAD is indeed moving into the Sony camp, im sure there will be no problem with them creating a decent Jak and Daxter. They did great with Chains of Olympus.

For Uncharted 2 I think they don't have to worry as much about gameplay mechanics anymore since they've pretty much nailed everything, they can still fine tune things but everything works so well already, it's going to be awesome to just see them create new scenarios and story for Drake. The problem has alot to do with the media writing off the game right away as "dude raider", unlike some games that basically get the hype and get the benefit of the doubt even when the gameplay is crappy, Uncharted had to earn every acclaim it had.

Very little chance Uncharted 2 will be shown. I don't think Insomniac or Naughty Dog have ever shown a sequel this far in advance (other than R&C Future, but that was the franchise's next-gen debut). Most likely, it will be revealed in Gameinformer or some other cover story next spring.

I think UT3 360 is already using the updated UE3. Seems to have no texture loading problems..

Or Unreal Engine is finally used the HDD on the 360 as cache

I have this feeling too, it will be unveiled next spring during a Playstation Day event. Same timing as Gears of War 2 or Prince of Persia but I really want to be wrong.

Yep.

I'm rooting for microsoft for JRPG and by the time a few come out Sony will get off the whole shooter genre crap and move to JRPG.

I just remembered about what that OPM AUS lady said:

15. What are the top 5 PLAYSTATION®3 games you're most excited about?

1. LittleBigPlanet
2 Motorstorm 2
3. MGS4
4. An unannounced title coming to PS3 for the first time (Bioshock)
5. Another unannounced title coming to PS3 that'll BLOW you away (????)

Sorry, not meaning to rub it in but OMG! The titles are BIG and so were the forms I've had to sign about not releasing any info until after the embargo dates pass BUT all will be revealed in the next two issues of the mag. We've had to fly to London, Paris, San Fran, Vegas and LA to nab this info. We're tired and our eyes are square.

I'm guessing no. 4 was Bioshock but was the other title ever revealed? Maybe at E3?
